Life Advice From A 19-Year Old Who's Been Homeless Off And On For Around A Year:
Cheap hotels are nice yes, but save around 50 dollars more than the actual price of the room because there is ALWAYS a deposit
If you live in a car, always keep a 20$ emergency gas fund, even if your funds are low, you'll suffer further if you're stopped on a highway somewhere
WALMART/HOME DEPOT PARKING LOTS ARE IDEAL FOR SLEEPING! They are less likely to kick you out or fine you for staying too long
Always, always, if you have a phone with service, sign up for any food/gas rewards you can get. You'll be able to eat more often for less money
Any work is good work. Even if you aren’t making enough for rent, you are making enough to live
Baby wipes, dry shampoo, deodorant and cologne/perfume will help with hygiene. You can also wipe your teeth with a tissue or a napkin. It may not be much but it is better than being unhealthy
Keep wasp spray with you. It doesn't make you a threat but it will defend against a threat if you find yourself in danger
Once again, for people who are staying in cars, BLANKETS, it gets buttfuck cold at night so PLEASE have as much warmth as you can afford/store. These are cheap at Walmarts and thrift stores, even if it seems gross it is better than hypothermia, believe me
