Vyrian, Varys and Sarys - Some Terms
Vyrian is the name of the language spoken by dragons. It is a naturally sang language, instead of being ‘spoken’, so to say, the language is usually sang. Vyrian has it’s own alphabet, called the Vyr, which works as glyphs or runes, and often reflects the vitae (spiritual energy) or intention from the writer (kinda like Skyrim’s Thu’um/words walls).
The romaji equivalent to Vyrian is called Varys, which is the mixture of the common tongue alphabet with the vyrian pronunciations. The Varys has no power or vitae associated with it and even when verbalized, it is spoken not sang. It also mixes in common tongue words.
The Common Tongue, aka Sarys, is the language created by the goddess Saryon to be spoken by humans. It is derived from Vyrian and it first passed through Varys until it became it’s own tongue. It has Vyrian terms to it.
When writting, Sarys is always written in our equivalent to it, which would be English globally, or portuguese in my personal case. Varys is Vyrian but as spoken by humans.
Vyrian is a made up language though it has a mixture of terms from other languages. The main origins of the Vyrian tongue while I was creating it were hindi/telegu, arab, hawaian and latin. There’s also some irish and welsh, korean and japanese. Some words however are entirely made up, others are adapted from known terms and other are copypasta (like Emir for example and Shah).
Terms that will be most used in Vyrian:
Vamir - Parent who mothers Vatir - Parent who fathers Vamir’tIr - Only to dragons who have both mothered and fathered eggs (often through parthonogenisis) Kine - Sibling Kine’tir - uncle/aunt from the father’s side Kine’mir - uncle/aunt from the mother’s side Val’Vamir - “Grandmother”
Dall - Child of - usually used as a prefix - Merinn Dall’Kalajarah means Merinn is the Child of Kalajarah.
Val - Honorable/Great/godly - prefix Aladara - Universe Valadara - Multiverse/ Godly Universe / Great Universe - also used as “beloved” - Name of the High Paradox who personifies the “will of the Universe” or “will of the writter” - Whenever dragons refer to the Universe they specifically call it this, MahV - Abbreviation associated to Valadara - Also means “writter” but again is ONLY used when referring to the Valadara. Rah - God, suffix, sometimes comes in the end of a name, like Havu’Rah (technically his name is Havura, but instead of saying God Havura, or Havura’Rah, people often abreviate it to Havu’Rah. Same with Kalajarah, as her name is Kalah, the suffix Jarah means goddess. Dragons don’t have a gender like humans and usually refer to Kalajarah as Kalah’Rah). Jarah - Goddess, suffix, it’s considered Varys and not Vyrian as it was adapted by humans, as dragons have no notion of gender the way humans do. Ja and a - Prefix and Suffix used to code a work as feminine - Only humans use it as dragons have no binary gender the way humans do.
Ja - Prefix as used in Vyrian means young, adventurous, open-hearted. Only used for naming. Example: Ja’Vashani.
Shahkiertai - Loremaster or Lord Lore Keeper. Dragon, and rarely a human, associated with writting down reality. Kier Tai. Kier means keeper, tai means lore.
Shaha’Raja - King / Queen - Tittle given to the Ruler of a Kingdom, City, prefecture or - When there’s two, one’s called just Shaha, while the other is called Shaharaja, usually the Shaharaja represents the will of the Court and Allies, while the Shah represents the will of the People and the Kingdom as they aren’t usually both the same. The Shaha is always the main ruler while the Shaharaja acts as their right hand. A Shaha can chose to be the sole Shaha’Raja, the Shaharaja is then removed from their duties and only the Shah remains as the main ruler. This is usually not advised as if something happens to the Shaha’Raja, their direct heir or second in command will take on their duties. Humans sometimes wrongly use the terms as to mean Shah (abbreviation for Shaha) - King and Shaharaja - Queen (see Beszarin). Raja - Also means ruler. Can be used as an abbreviation for Shaha’Raja. Often used for high ranking chiefs under the Shaha’Raja’s rule. Can aso designate a Prince ruling over a specific area (Emir’Raja or Raja’Dall). Emir - Prince / Princess Shaha’Dall - Prince / Princess Both Emir and Shahadall may be used but the meanings are diferent. While Emir means just Prince of Princess, without it actually meaning royal or noble descendence, Shahadall specifically means child of the Shah. Yuv’Raja - Crown Prince / Princess - Tittle given to the direct heir to a kingdom, clan. Yuv - Heir / “Horn” - Crown.
Dall - Can be used as both suffix and prefix. When associated to names it must come as prefix, meaning child of. When associated to tittles it must come as suffix as it means [Tittle] Child. So Child of Merinn, will be Dall’Merinn, Child of the Shah, will be Shaha’Dall. Dragons don’t use the tittle King.
