A girl grinned as her legs crossed one another. Looking above, a boy tuning an acoustic guitar murmured, “I learned.” A playful smirk tugged on a corner of his peach lips. “Just when I saw your Spotify activity. You took song repeater that hard, didn't you?”
“I don’t get what you mean,” replied the girl, playing fool.
“You know,” said the boy, “you’re on the same song over and over again.” “As if it reflects your life—love life to be specific.” After a pause, the boy added as she noticed he had put his fingers on the strings, ready to voice the chords, “Well, I can play it, Lilian.”
The strawberry blonde girl, Lilian, thought a moment before she responded, “Alright.” Her smile rose again, “What song is it, I wonder?” With great enthusiasm, the bony fingers started to dance just the moment his lips moved.
“You’re on the phone with your boyfriend…”
Giggles came from Lilian, “You told me you weren’t a swiftie!” A light chuckle followed then, “I know.”
“…you’re upset. You’re going off about something that he said.”
“Hey, that’s not the lyrics…”
“Cause he doesn’t have time for you like I do…
…I’m in my room multitasking, or so it called
I’m hovering between your chats and the council works
And he’ll never do the same as I do.”
“Ah!” he exclaimed, realizing how bad the made-up lyrics sounded. That boy grinned, scratching his scalp. “Pardon the off-keys, will you?”
Suddenly, a rumble of footsteps, accompanied by students' babbles was heard from the music room. “Now, what is this?” mumbled the boy, his song paused to the distraction. “The meeting in hall ends early.”
For a moment, the green eyes of hers stuck to his face that brushed with stray black strands. She left him back in silence for seconds. “I have to go.”
He sighed. The guitar was put back in a reluctant way. “Why?” “He’s going to enter this room to turn off the sound system. He will be upset, if… if he sees us together.”
“Don’t be silly.” He clutched the curve of her bent elbow. “We’re just hanging out.”
“Atlas.”
“No,” he insisted. Firmly, he gripped her shoulders, forcing her to look at him in the dark, navy irises. “You changed, Lilian. You changed since you got together with him. Do you even realize it?”
“Right now, you look like you’re a rebellious teenager trying to sneak out of a strict parent’s watch to meet a friend. And it’s damn ridiculous. He’s not your dad, hello?”
“Do you really see this normal, Lilian? His behavior? If he’s really your boyfriend, he should never be dramatic and restrict you so selfishly, right?”
There was a glimmer of tears wrapping her sclera.
“I know you better, Lilian.”
“Atlas, I have to go.”
“Does he ever notice your Spotify activity?” he asked crossly. The girl sighed in her weak smile. “We don’t follow each other there.”
“He… he’s busy, Atlas.” He spat on the words scornfully, “Busy? I am busy, too, Lilian. That’s a shit reason. You know my responsibilities right now?”
“Yet, I’m still here for you, giving in all my time. And do you know why is that?”
Atlas leaned in closer, brushing the soft cheeks of hers, which threatened to be wet by stray tears.
“It’s because I want to. If your damn boyfriend wanted to, he would, Lilian. But do you see him now?”
The room was initially back tranquil despite the rumbling noise some moments ago, up until a husky voice pierced in sharply at the door frame.
Ya'll. My favorite fanfic ever seems to be gone. I read that Archive of Our Own was being cyber attacked or something, and that some works did not make it. Lisafer on AO3 and Fief Goldenlake wrote a phenomenal fic about a romance between Sir Myles of Olau and Wyldon Cavall whilst he is at the castle training to become a knight. It is called "Paragons of Knightley Virtue." It. Is. So. Good. And it's gooone!! I hope to someday find it again, because Great Mithros, it is so fire.
