"I don't need men" says me right before I meet the only hot tboy in the entire city
Mansion of the Doomed (Massacre Mansion, 1976)
"You must trust me. I'm going to give you back your eyes, all of you. Soon. As soon as I've succeeded with Nancy, as soon as I... I discover the truth. I will share that truth with you. For the whole world! I believe in humanity, that's - that's what it's all about."
the omen is a well-made movie, but it is ultimately a love letter to the catholic idea that some kids are, BY BIRTH, super evil.
as in it is quite literally a movie about a father coming to terms with the fact that the right and good thing to do WOULD in fact be to listen to the Catholic church and murder his son. *WOMP WOMP*
trying to brainstorm what little treat I should get myself after doing like the equivalent of 5 people's month worth of work in less than a week
that post about visualisation and realising how many ppl CAN’T rly got to me….. like it is tragically fascinating to me that so many ppl can’t visualise. “can you picture the apple clearly” i can see it in perfect detail, down to the shape and texture of the stem and the drop of water on the side from being washed. i can see the table it’s sitting on, the house around it, the way the light streams in and the dust floating in it. i know what the living room looks like to the right and the garden out the door to the left, which herbs are first in the rows, i know what it feels like and smells like, what the apple tastes like, how heavy it is in my hand. i don’t have to close my eyes to do it either. i can see it picture in picture or i can let my vision fade and Go Inside My Head into this little house with the apple and i can pick it up and eat it and walk down the hall, peruse the bookshelves, go outside and stroll the grounds and meet the neighbours. i can see the apple in my hand in the garden or i can see it in my hand right here in the physical, can see it floating in front of my face.
what do u mean u don’t see anything. where do u go when u get bored of the place ur body is
leigh (ross duffer's ex wife) having written explicit queer horror romances before (fear street trilogy. i haven't watched it but apparently there's a couple in there similar to byler?)
ross duffer getting divorced between s4-5 production
volume 1 feeling like a completely different writer's room from vol 2-3. as in the writing quality just... tanked
the hints on the writers' twitter account, that one poster at a strike protest "byler won't write itself". btw that twitter account stopped posting in 2023, which i think is around when writers strikes were happening, take from that what you will
constant contradictions in the duffers words with the season 5 story beats teased pre writers strike
the subtext already built into the show that reflects the way slowburn queer romances have been set up in other shows-yet vanishes mysteriously from vol
2-3
the "for will" tape and mike funko pop with the painting never being explained
previously well written queer character (robin) is suddenly written very weirdly at the end of the show and has an off screen breakup, despite ST always showing breakups on screen. also the difference in her coming out scene vs will's? how could those possibly be written by the same people
a cast interview implying the duffers didn't show anyone the script at all
all of the attention to detail in the cinematography, set design, character outfits etc building to nothing
like call me insane but i'm pretty convinced that the duffer brothers lost people in the writers room + leigh, and we can now see them for the mediocre screenwriters they really are
edit: oh how could i forget to add that no fucking way any feminist writing in this show was the duffers' doing.
no way they wrote el and max's friendship or honestly any of el's complexity and heartbreakingly beautiful character trying to be a person after growing up in hell. no way they did that when they called her a girl E.T. and gave her THAT ending + all the stuff in the recent interview about mileven and this being the ending they always envisioned for her + making her entire arc tangential to the men that saved her. oh and killing kali
no way they wrote erica when they say in an recent interview that nobody would care what happened to her. the misogynoir is fucking disgusting auughhhhh
