How much technique is too much? For every body there is a unique way to use the yoga poses as an introspective learning tool. If you’re told exactly what to do, where is the learning? Instead of learning if you’re just following directions it might be more like programming. The best teachers seem to be the ones who navigate their role as providing just enough direction for the student to learn without interfering with the student’s active role in their own learning process. Teaching yoga isn’t about making carbon copies of yourself. Teaching yoga is about holding space for the students to learn. It seems to me that there is a sweet spot that sits somewhere in between way too much technique and thinking and not enough so that people feel lost and the experience gets overly mystified. _ Many people say we are at a critical stage in the evolution of yoga exploring a post-lineage world. Maybe that’s true, and maybe it also means that we are finally digging deeply enough into yoga as a spiritual path that we are waking up from the slumber of unconsciousness. Either way, we are all students on the path and no one can do the work needed for us to learn the lessons we are here to learn in this life. _ Keep practicing 🙏 _ Las Vegas Weekend Workshop December 10-12 @yogasanctuarylv _ One week Mysore with me starts in January @miamiyogagarage _ Tune into my podcast with a new episode each week. _ Photo @ifilmyoga #miami #miamibeach #yoga #yogi #yogapractice #yogainspiration #ashtanga #bestrong #winterinflorida #lbh #ekapadasirsasana #legbehindhead #secondseries 💕 (at Miami Beach, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/CXHHOFsuReW/?utm_medium=tumblr
