Today Feb 22 2023, I sowed the first seeds;

Red Carpet and Oneida Onions.

The red carpets mostly passed the sink test, a giid chunk of the Oneidas did not.

Seed starting plan!

February:

Start inside: kale, broccoli, radishes, celery, parsley, cabbage

March:

Start inside: few tomato and pepper plants, basil, dill, leeks, kohlrabi

Sow outside: Peas, potatoes, carrots, beets

Middle of March: start inside first serious wave of tomatoes and peppers, ground cherry, zuchini, cantaloupes, one single eggplant, cucumbers

April:

Start inside: okra, flowers, last wave of tomato and pepper plants

Sow outside: more potatoes, another wave of carrots, swiss chard

Transplant outside from starts: kale, broccoli, radishes, celery, parsley, cabbage, kohlrabi

Middle of April: transplant first tomato and pepper plants as a risk wave

May: After the end of last frost

Sow outside: Green beans, dry beans, kabucha, butternut squash, hokkaido pumpkin

Transplant outside: Tomatoes and peppers middle wave, basil, leeks, ground cherry, zuchinni, eggplant, cucumbers

June:

Transplant last wave of tomatoes (this ensures tomatoes in October!), transplant okra outside (at this point some onions, garlic and carrots are already harvested so there's space for this last planting)

My gardening efforts are mostly about seeds and seedlings just now. Not a lot of posts about that as I vowed this year my blog would not be full of pics of soil and compost. However the green leaves of these Morning Glory seedlings are quite pretty, so I thought you could see those.

At home it’s sowing seeds time;

Dahlias

Progress on the veg and dahlia bed: more turf was removed, 7 dahlias (3 varieties) were moved across from elsewhere in the garden, artichokes were planted out in between those, and 6 rows of seeds have been direct sowed: wild rocket, purple sprouting broccoli, beetroot ‘Bolthardy’, mustard greens ‘Mizuna Red Streaked’, green purslane, mixed lettuce. March 2020.
