Regarding the prohibition of music during sefiras haomer and the three weeks, have any poskim written about what constitutes music? I know there’s some debate about whether it’s only live music or also recorded music that’s prohibited, or whether a capella music is permitted, but I am curious if anyone has written about this prohibition re: genres like harsh noise or artists like Merzbow, where many people might not think of it as music. Or what about bird or whale “songs”: do these constitute music even though they’re not human-made?

There's a band I like , von cantos, that is nearly a Capella, but they have a drummer. this is really annoying as my family has the tradition to only listen to a Capella during the omar and the 3 week. Got any suggestions for me to listen to?

There are some who don't consider drums to be music, in regards to sefirah. Just so you know!

I have an a capella playlist on spotify with tons of awesome a capella music that I've curated over the years for sefirah!

Pentatonix, BYU Vocal Point, Home Free, Straight No Chaser, VoicePlay, and Citizen Queen are some of my favorites, and Six13, The Maccabeats, and The Y-Studs are some good Jewish a capella groups.

Also, I recommend looking up the BOCA albums, they put one out every year. (Literally titled BOCA 2011, BOCA 2012, BOCA 2013, etc etc). They're compilation albums of college a capella groups and a lot of them are awesome.
