Love that the most memorable thing Sir Bleoberis does in the whole Arthurian canon is cuck Sir Palamedes's brother
"Sir Segwarides rides after Sir Tristram."
King Arthur and His Knights of the Round Table (1912)
can’t believe palamedes and his brothers safir, segwarides etc are all half giants and are still being triumphed by tristan constantly
Segwarides: Look, that's a woman who hasn't slept with all of Cornwall while she was married, if you don't marry her right now... I don't know what to tell you Safir: I do. You're stupid Palamedes: But... Florie: Give it a chance at least Palamedes: Alright. I'll ask her to go see a play, but nothing else! (Leaves) Segwarides: If my Math does not fail me, in a year or so we'll have the wedding, in around three, a nephew or niece
They got Palamedes to do this on their first attempt and Tristan is screaming about it.
Segwarides: You became a knight of the Round Table?
Palamedes: What? Like it's hard.
Tristan and Arthur: A Monday Evening Drabble
Happy Monday! Have a little drabble with Arthur and Tristan -- I was nice and left out the part where it gets full of painful dramatic irony, so you can get 100% Arthur-and-Tristan-being-20-something-girls. It probably won't make it into the actual story, at least in this form, so enjoy:
“That’s Safir. We, uh, don’t really get along.” Tristan looked away and tugged at a curl at her nape in an awkward show of guilt.
“Did you do something to her?”
“What?” Tristan looked back with innocent eyes. “No, nothing. I mean, her brother Palamedes fought against me in the tournament for Isolde’s hand. He still resents losing. And her other brother Segwarides… well. I sort of stole his groom.”
“You what?” Arthur took a step back, appraising her friend with new eyes.
“No, not stole. Borrowed. Sort of. They’re together now, very happy. Very lovely couple.” Tristan nodded with a little too much enthusiasm.
Arthur had to cover her mouth to hide her laughter. “Do you have a problem or something?”
“Yeah, Arthur,” Tristan answered in a voice dripping with sarcasm, “I really love being known as an adulteress. It’s always been my life ambition.” She crossed her arms and resumed her usual tone. “That Segwarides situation was not my doing. He came onto me. He came onto March. He came onto everyone, I think. I didn’t know he was off-limits until his husband came chasing me down.”
“Tristan,” Arthur said, placing a parental hand on her friend’s shoulder, “you know there are available men that you could pursue.”
“I’m not pursuing anyone!” She swept Arthur’s hand away and sighed, suddenly wearing a face of grief. “I’ll never love anyone other than Isolde.”
“Hm. That’s too bad. I was thinking that you and Lancelot would make a charming couple.” Arthur’s eyes twinkled with a hint of mischief.
It worked. Tristan abandoned her grief momentarily to break into a fit of laughter. “Oh, friend, even if I’d never met my Isolde, I wouldn’t touch that emotional shipwreck with the longest spear on earth. Talk about unavailable.”
