Too Much - Lin Kuei x GN!autistic!reader (headcanons)

in which you experience a sensory overload

ship[s]: tomas vrbada, kuai liang, bi han, cyrax, sektor x GN!autistic!reader (separate)

warning(s): sensory overload (i did my best on research guys), pre-lin kuei split

Sensory overload: "...occurs when one or more of the body's senses is overstimulated to a point where a person is unable to cope."

While it can be used for PTSD and OCD, for the purposes of this fic, it will be related to autism and people on the spectrum

Tomas Vrbada - Ear-clapping

- ear-clapping is one of the more serious mechanisms that could happen with a sensory overload, which involves the person with autism to aggressively clap their ears. in the most severe cases, screaming and crying can occur

- Tomas learned this was caused by very loud sounds

- to help you, he learned that immediately moving you to a quieter area works wonders

- if there were no available quiet spaces, he did his best to hold you very tightly (and i mean very tightly) and cover your ears for you himself

- sometimes, during the severe attacks, you scratched his arm because they were in the way, but he powered through because you would not only calm down, but according to him- "tis but a scratch!"

Kuai Liang - Foot-tapping

- Kuai Liang used to think you foot-tapped when you were annoyed

- it always happened during the meetings where they were held in the old meeting hall, where the flames always seemed to flicker a bit too much

- or it happened when you heard the ancient clock in your shared room tick-tick-tick too much (he had it removed after weeks of back-and-forth between one of the elders)

- Kuai helps you out during these moments by just sitting next to you. he'll even talk to you (only when you say so)

- he learns that holding your hand is the best way to help you overcome the overload

Bi Han - Sensory-seeking Behavior

- Bi Han though you were really odd when he first saw you intensely smelling the unlit candle in your shared room, he realized though it was much more

- Bi Han definitely has "asian dad vibes" because his response to that was buying the entire stock of the candle you liked in case you were going somewhere and had an overload without him

- if you couldn't get your hands on the candle scent, Bi Han juggled ice balls (no you will not correct me on my headcanon that Bi Han juggles). he even mastered how to do multiple ice balls at once

- he learned this was caused by the intense smell of the incense that's burned in the training room. a combination of smelling salts plus some weird potion the elder mages imbued with the salts

- he prohibited the use of it immediately, but you occasionally smell it due to the centuries of use

- still, when you do smell it, he'll help you anyway he can

Sektor - Distraction Behavior

- Sektor thought it was weird that you fiddled with the stylistic wires that stuck out on the back of her helmet, but after learning it was to cope with sensory overload, she was more than happy to help

- sektor made you a personal "sensory toy," a stick with the exact wires that stuck out on one end. you use it often, but when it isn't on you, Sektor has other ideas

- she brought you this toad sculpture made of wood, with ridges sculpted in them for you to touch (you find it rather soothing)

- if it those things aren't present, Sektor doesn't mind that you fiddle with her hand: tracing pictures with your finger, playing with her fingers, etc

Cyrax - Sensory Avoidance Behavior

- after Cyrax watched you shut your eyes as tight as possible while rocking in place after dropping a huge aluminum tube, she felt really really bad

- caused by loud sounds, she learned your overload coping behavior was to not feel, see, or hear everyday sounds

- she made you a helmet that's blacked inside and out, and has incredible noise cancelling abilities

- she also made you earplugs, a combination of technology and soft materials so that you wouldn't be uncomfortable. she paired it with a simple blindfold made with the "blackest fabric dye in the world" (with what funds?)

- while there were days you wanted Cyrax to hold you, other overloads weren't as kind. sometimes you didn't want her with you, and thank the elder gods she didn't take it personal. she still felt bad leaving you alone, so she always left a pillow that was heavily doused in her natural smell

Sektor and Bi Han discover you were abused by your ex:

Dear Anon, I hope you are well, healthy and full of happiness. To answer your question, I’ll answer simply at first:

They would go for blood, and kill him. But there are differences on how they would manage it.

They have come to the conclusion that, in order for you to be happy and content , they need to keep you safe and guarded from danger. I don't think they would do it from a “Yandere” perspective (It's funny because it's a japanese term but, whatever, they were called “ninjas” anyway.).

But I do think that, no matter how gruesome, they would do anything, and I mean anything, to protect you. (Keep in mind that they are thieves and assassins, this is nothing new to them. But they do not tend to go into “missions” for their own personal vendetta, like Scorpion would.)

Bi-Han would chase him and kill him on the spot, because he made you suffer and cry. And do not get me started on this, if he learns that your ex assaulted you or forced you sexually in any way, that will play on their death.

He will freeze the aggressor, rip their genitalia most likely, and crush it into his hands so he will never, ever be able to desecrate you again.

Bi-Han, of course, would go for direct killing.

Sektor, on the other hand, would go for something more subtle and nuanced. He would go for the long run, the indirect way of killing.

If your ex was a Lin Kuei (might be the highest chance), it will start from a promotion. Hóng (Sektor's name given by @bihansthot , I paid my Bi-Han! Tax here lol.), would move contacts, and take this person under his wing, only to betray him at the end.

The harder, more difficult and dangerous the missions are, the higher the chance of your ex getting killed.

Hóng will not kill him directly. Oh, no, he’s way too good to do that. He would leave the guy alone in missions, would give them the hardest quests and order him to do things that are way out of his league.

He wouldn't get his hands dirty for a loser like him.

I bet he would die in the second or third mission he gets, not more than that. (Or Sektor could make him the first prototype for the cyber initiative, and fuck it up on purpose, like having the prototype for practice matches and such. That is a fate worse than death, as Raiden would say).

Whether it was Bi-Han/Sub-Zero or Sektor/Hóng, you were horrified when you learned about your ex’s fate. It wasn't him…right? Your boyfriend treated you well and respected you, and while he was an assassin, he wouldn't go out of his way to kill your ex, right??

…Right?

But deep down, one part of you felt safe, alleviated that he would no longer be around, the pain wouldn't linger in your heart or mind anymore. You didn't care about how it was or who did it.

You cared about yourself, your new life, your beloved, and that you finally, finally, had justice for all the pain you went through.

Karma…it can be a bitch sometimes, doesn't it?

"Strange Manicure"

"Hey, Sektor?” Smoke calls out to her from across the table, snapping her from the thoughts. New blueprints for her flamethrower’s harness and what material would be best suited for it served as her mind's distraction as they waited for Bi-Han's arrival.

“Yes, Smoke?” She replied, lifting her head up from its resting place on her crossed hands. She had cleaned her hands free of her workshop's dirt and oil before coming to this assembly, and her nails were just as spotless. That was not what Smoke wanted to point out, however. It was something else on the Master Armorer that confused him.

“Why are the nails on your middle and ring fingers shorter than the others?” 

The young man asked his question, truly clueless on the matter. Her work was very hands-on, of course, but her nails were deliberately cut short on both hands compared to the rest on her other fingers.

Sektor sighed and glared, breathing low through her nose. Next to Smoke, Scorpion coughed loudly behind his mask, trying to cover up the laughter that tried to spill out.

“Mind your business, Tomáš.” Sektor scoffed, turning away from the smoke user. Scorpion is now chuckling silently, his face in his hands. Smoke blinks rapidly between the two of them, not sure what he did wrong.

“I did not mean to offend, I was only curious since it seemed like you did it on purpose.” He explained, making his situation even worse. Sektor glared daggers at him that would have killed him dead if she had it her way, and his brother laughed loudly, tears building up in his face.

“You have not felt the touch of a woman yet, have you?” Sektor mocked, still refusing to give him the reason for her strange manicure. Tomáš gasped, confused about what he did to deserve that when Kuai Liang spoke up from his laughing fit.

“If you are truly curious brother, go ask Sektor's assistant. I'm sure she wouldn't mind helping you!” Kuai teased, earning Sektor’s ire.

“Do not even think about it Tomáš!” She snarled, standing up from her seat. What goes on between her and her signif-her assistant is no one's business but there's.

Smoke stuttered, not sure why you of all people would know the answer to his question, but then Bi-Han walked through the room, icy vapor trailing behind him. The Grandmaster's presence forces them and everyone else in the room to look at him.

“Is there an issue?” The cryomancer spoke gruffly, seeing the scene playing out between his brothers and Master Armorer.

“Nothing, Bi-Han. May we begin now?” Sektor spoke first before Scorpion and Smoke, the two younger brothers quickly changing into pictures of obedient subordinates with the eldest of them now appearing.

Bi-Han looks between the three of them, still suspicious that he interrupted something judging from how Smoke keeps looking at Sektor, like she offended him. He will find out more later, from Sektor herself or from one of his brothers, and the meeting begins with little fuss.

Later on, while Sektor is off distracted somewhere, Tomáš makes his way down to her laboratory. He dodges cables, heavy boxes of building materials, and random chemicals in bottles stamped with symbols he doesn't understand. The person he seeks is currently leaning over one of the many tables around the room, a pair of heavy goggles protecting their face as they piece together more toxic yellow glue bombs for Cyrax. They hear his footsteps on the metal floor and look up from their work, lifting the industrial goggles hiding their eyes from view.

“Tomáš! What can I do for you?” You ask cheerfully, twisting yourself in your chair to face him. The Czech greets you back, making his way around your lover's magnificent lab to your side.

“I hope I am not interrupting you too much, I have a question to ask you that Sektor refused to answer.” Tomáš reveals, making you hum. Sektor could occasionally be a bit brash, a side effect of a large ego combined with a strong mind. It annoyed you in the beginning, but now you know better than to let her attitude get under your skin, and better yet, how to get under hers.

“You're good! What is it?” 

“Why are Sektor’s nails on her ring and middle fingers shorter than her other ones?” He asked, still just as clueless. He watched as your eyes widened and mouth dropped, a tiny squeak coming out from your throat. Your face heated up from embarrassment, and you quickly looked away from the warrior as you sat up.

“What!? W-why would I know?!” You yelled, your fingers coming up to try and cool your heated face. “Why are you asking me?”

“Scorpion said that you would know!” Tomáš defended himself, now on the receiving end of two different women's anger. You were not as skilled as him or Sektor in kombat, but you were more than able to hold your own. As if Sektor would ever leave you alone without some way to defend yourself. 

“Well I don't, so there's your answer!” You snapped, bringing your conversation with the typhomancer to a close. You stomped away from him, flinging your goggles and gloves to the side and going after wherever your lover was in the temple. To kiss or slap her, you don't know yet, you'll figure it out on the way.

Tomáš meant to chase after you, asking for forgiveness for whatever he did, but then the invisible light bulb over his head went off. He still didn't understand the thing with Sektor’s nails, but he did understand why his brother sent him after you. 

You, a lowly engineer and Lin Kuei initiate, and Sektor, the clan’s Master Armor and its best mind…what an interesting couple.

Where is she?

You wonder as you pace the floor of your room. The dinner you made for her and you to enjoy was cold now. You worked so hard on it, it was a new recipe and you wanted Sektor to be the first to try it. You worked on everything in general tonight. You had hoped for a romantic candle lit dinner, you got her favorite flowers, got the candles you knew she liked, you even got the best wine you could get your hands on. You meticulously placed rose petals onto the bed in the shape of a heart. You knew hard things had been for Sektor so you wanted to do something special for her. And she hasn't shown up yet.

This was the 5th time this week, Sektor was supposed to be here by now, and like what has been the case for almost a month now, she was late. Where is she? You wonder again, dropping into your seat with a huff. Maybe she was just working on something in her workshop, or maybe she was with...him...

With a frustrated sigh, you laid your head onto the table. You were used to Sektor coming late, and insisted it was the best time because of the lack of people possibly seeing her come to your room, but not this late. It be and more and more of a struggle to keep your eyes open. You try to fight off the sleep, but you slowly feel it claim you. She'll come, you try to convince yourself, she's going to walk through that door and everything's going to be just fine. You rise to your feet and stumble towards the bed. Surely you can close your eyes for just a few seconds. You are careful not to ruin the pattern of roses at the center of the bed, you curl up at the foot of the bed and softly yawn. You'll rest your eyes for a moment as you wait for Sektor, she'll show up and wake you. Then you'll have dinner and everything will be just fine. She'll come, you just know it.

"What happened last night?" You whisper under your breath to Sektor. The training room was empty now, the echo of you impatiently tapping your feet against the cold stone bounced across the walls. Sektor has just came out of a training session to test her new equipment, you caught just as she was leaving. Sektor side eyed you for a second, a slight apologetic glare in her eyes. "I was working late, Bi-Han wanted to go over plans for a...special assignment." You didn't like the sound of that. Bi-Han has been working for Sektor for the longest, he and her would meet in his office or to the training grounds or wherever, and they would be there for hours. You say to her it's fine when she leaves to meet with him, but you can't lie, it burns you up inside. Why does she have so much time for him, but almost none for you? "You said you'd visit me tonight, I had planned for you and me to spend some time together."

"I have responsibilities, Y/n. You know that.". You take a deep breath as you try to maintain your composure, you don't want to cause a scene. You notice that Sektor is making sure to maintain a noticeable distance from you even though there weren't a lot of people left in the room. The few in the room were packing up their things and getting ready to walk out, they were in the training room locker, where they couldn't see you. Sektor rested her hands behind her back and fixed with a stern look. It didn't feel like you were talking to the woman you loved, but rather being scolded by your superior. You feel ashamed how intimidated you feel by how she looked at you, how you feel the need to cower before your own girlfriend.

"I know that. I'm not asking to abandon your responsibilities. Or to throw away your life for me. I just want us to work for you to include me in your world." Sektor had a busy life, you knew that. So you always appreciated when she made time for you. But now that time has gotten shorter and shorter, as she has spent more time with Bi-Han. Sometimes, you wouldn't even see for 3 while days because how devoted to him she is. You won't lie, that makes your stomach churns with fear when she does that. Even worse, the way she changes in his presence.

You remember one time, you and Sektor were in Sektor's lab, holding hands as you enjoyed each other's time. You remember smiling like an idiot and enjoying this moment. Then Bi-Han walked in. It was strange watching Sektor completely change upon hearing Bi-Han. The sweet smile that painted her face snapped into a cold glare as she ripped her hand out of yours and started to pretend to scold you, harshly criticising you and every aspect. The Grandmaster looked you up and down, a chillingly heartless glare in his eyes. He asked, well, more like he ordered you to leave their presence. You remembered looking over to Sektor, expecting to say something. She didn't so much as look at you.

Sektor later came to you, insisting that she said all those things and the nothing at all to protect your relationship. You forgave, but never forgot. You want an end to this, you just Sektor to hold your hand and not be scared that someone might see you. You wanted her to say you're hers. You wanted to know that she loved you and weren't just using you for emotional support and a good time.

"I'm trying my hardest, but I don't have enough time for you." You now stare at Sektor disheartened, "I know..." A heavy sigh rips free from your nostrils. "Yet you have all the time in the world for Bi-Han." You pout as you cross your arms, trying to avoid her gaze. Sektor lets out a frustrated sigh. "What I do, I do for Lin Kuei's future. Bi-Han and I share a vision for it, and we're working together to achieve it." You squeeze your eyes shut and cross your arms and you begin to tap your foot against the hard steel of the floor. "Do you know how much you've spoken to me?" You nibble ever slightly on your lip while trying to control your breath. Sektor let out a heavy sigh. "Y/n, I don't-"

"This is the most we've talked in a month." Sektor studied your face as she let this sink. Now that she thought about it, the last time you two even interacted was when you brought her water after a gruelling training day. She remembered smiling as she wiped the sweat from her brow. "Thank you, Y/n. I lo-" at that second she immediately closed her mouth and looked away from you, her face burned bright red with blush. Since then, you two barely said more than 5 words to each other, which wasn't usually often because of how much she was with Bi-Han. Sektor falls silent, it feels like forever as she does is stare at you blankly. You throw your hands in the hand, turn on your heel and match away. "You know what? I'm done!" You say a little louder than you should. "Y/n!" Sektor bellows in a low growl. "Oh, no don't worry about me. Who cares about me when you have your precious Bi-Han!?" You swing around to face her. By now, Lin Kuei poked their head out of the locker rooms to see what the commotion is about.

"Y/n, we both know that nothing's going on between and Bi-Han." Anger flared in Sektor's eyes, yet the Lin Kuei somehow managed to keep her voice steady and low. You were the opposite, you lost yourself in the moment. Now you're storming down the hallway, your voices echo vibrated off the wall. "Y/n!" Sektor calls after you. Once again, you swing around your feet to meet her, you eyes burning with jealousy and rage. "What!?"

Immediately, Sektor slams you against the wall, before you have a moment to react, her lips are on yours, her tongue is inside your mouth. She places her hands firmly placed on your waist as she just holds you there. Oh gods, her warmth, you forgot how warm she was. You feel little shame as it melts in her arms. At that second, all that burned, caused you to act out, feels like a distant memory slowly fading away as she pressed you against the wall. "Enough of this nonsense, Y/n!" Her voice is low and firm. "You are one of the best things to ever happen. Bi-Han is my Grandmaster and I honor him, but he is nothing else but a friend." You feel your heart begin to skip a beat as she got closer to your heart, whispering in it. "I love you, Y/n." At that, you feel chills running down your spine, your legs slightly turn to jelly.

The way I act around Bi-Han, treat you in front of him... I'm sorry." You both sit in a pregnant silence at this. "Sektor." You open your mouth to speak, but Sektor is quick to interrupt. "No, no, there's no need to excuse my actions. I...I was wrong." Another silence passes between you two. "No, I actually was going to agree. You were a real jerk." Sektor grows a stupid look on her face, until she finally dryly chuckles. A wide smile spreads across both your face. "Yeah, I was." She agrees. You key out a tough sigh as you hold on tighter to her arms around you.

"To be fair. I acted like a jerk too. I'm sorry for my outburst." The air about you two suddenly feels free. You rise to your feet and rub your neck, you can just feel the markings. Sektor said with a hungry grin on her face. "Y/n, no matter what, I want you to know that I love you. I can't imagine going on without you. You're so...so...you. You're so you." At that second, Sektor closes her eyes and grits her teeth in embarrassment. "Um, thank you, I guess?" You cross your arms. "Look, I'm not good at this, I adore you, understood?" You giggle as she rises to her feet. "Understood. I love you too." It felt so good to finally say it, you found yourself with a dumb smile on your face.

Sektor grabs you and kisses you again, her hands travel up and down your back. She pulls back, "Let's take this up to your room. I'm yours for the rest of the day." You bite your lip in excitement, you spin on your hells and rush to the exit. Sektor walks over to one of the workshop drawers. She hurriedly opens it and begins rummaging through it. "Coming?" you stop right underneath the door frame and look behind you. Finally Sektor finds it, she grins at the sight of it. "I am, I just wanted to bring this. I've been working on it just for you." She pulls out a strange device. A phallic shaped gadget that appeared to be composed of multiple small parts, maybe it moves in different parts. You blush and bite your lip at the sight of it. "This is going to be a long day, isn't it?" Sektor only smirks at you. It is going to be a long day.

It’s the one thing I can find any motivation for however Sektor is involved in it if that’s of any interest but she’s in a ffmm relationship.
