#3,123 of why I relate to Frankenstein's Creature:

It's so fricken hard to find/make friendships into your adult/young adult years

Like, I just want a companion to spend my time with and to talk to!

I want to go on and on about books, art, and literature.

I want to go down endless amounts of rabbit holes of my favorite movies and book adaptations with someone and spend hours talking about it to no end - not to an imaginary audience or to a wall

I want to deep dive on games and media and find someone who feels like we've been friends/companions forever, and we've somehow known each other all our whole lives

There are a LOT of reasons I relate to the creature, but one of them is the incessant loneliness of it all. It's not his fault Victor made him grotesque and, yes, although he did some horrible things to some innocent people, it's the idea that he was just so lonely and so deprived of affection/companionship that he was practically proven on this idea that no one would see him as an equal. (I do not condone what he did, btw, I'm just stating an opinion)

Somehow, I feel that GDT's version hurt more on this concept because the Old Blind Man didn't just turn him away. He didn't freak out when The Creature came to him; He allowed him to share his food, fire, and friendship. He taught him and enjoyed his company before the hunters and wolves came to ruin it all.

Elizabeth wasn't scared of him. She EMBRACED him! She found her missing piece in the world through him, and he found a form of compassion and companionship through her, yet, again, it was all ruined by humanity's gaze.

The end is just as bittersweet, but also a reminder to keep going despite all the heartache.

Victor tells the Creature to live; enjoy life; make your place in this world, but we as the audience (and even The Creature, himself) knows that will be hard for him. Yes, the Creature can go anywhere he wants in the world, but he's still going about it alone. GDT gave us hope that he might find someone, it is possible, but there will be turmoil with it all.

And, I think that's the message to all of us lonely monsters. Yes, you might be lonely. You might be extremely lonely, but you have to have faith in a concept.

Hope.

If you have hope, if you strive to find the very best in yourself, then you will find a companion. The journey will be long. It will be painful. However, with hope, maybe you, dear Creature, can find a companion lucky enough to love you just for who you are.

Whether you are an Elizabeth or a Creature, you will find your match - you just have to believe and have faith and hope. It doesn't have to be romantically, either. It can even be platonically.

And... that's what I'd like to believe myself 🖤

Small post before I sleep

I find it interesting how my brain works

I'm usually incredibly adverse to change. I hate it, I won't accept it. New people in a friend group? Fuck off. New terms I don't understand? I hate you. New anything? DIE.

For a few days, weeks sometimes months, I'll hate these new things. Not very badly, I won't burn with it, I probably won't even talk about it unless it really really annoys me. But I'll still hate them. Because they're new. Because I don't understand. Because I'm scared.

And then it passes. The hate calms down, I'm not angry anymore, just scared and confused. I branch out, talk to the person, look up the term. I form a genuine opinion on them, one more in depth than just "it's new so I don't like it". Maybe I still hate it, maybe I love it now, but at least my opinion is genuine.

I've seen this happen, over and over in my life, mostly in myself, but sometimes in others and idk. I just find it interesting

Like when I find out about new things that I can't control, unless it's introduced to me very carefully, I'll hate it. I'll need a week, maybe a month, to let myself cool before I can judge it properly

And idk, maybe I just think people should do that more often. Get used to the idea that "this is new. Maybe I just don't like it because it's new?" Give yourself time. Come back to something later, decide what you feel then

(obviously there are exceptions, when things are obviously harmful or when things are hurting you in someway, but I'm talking more about like. Having new people introduced, finding new gender or sexuality terms, ect)

Recently I’ve been stuck cause I want to write a romance fanfic for myself but even that’s hard. I get demotivated to actually write and then hare myself fro not writing, and that makes me feel like I can’t write the thing because it won’t be perfect, and I hate myself for not making progress.

I’m trying to remind myself that it takes time, I mean, Dark Harmony has 9 chapters and took like…half a year to complete the first arc. And I had infinite time to work on it. Also the fact I barely have an outline so that’ll probs help the most. But even then the thought just coexists with the “why am I not writing enough, I suck” stuff, and those thoughts are louder.

Idk what to do, but I know that the most important thing right now is to make it exist. So I think I’ll focus on that.

the difference between what i post/ how often i post on tumblr vs my instagram is sending me.

Every instagram post is an acceptable work of art and has to be carefully checked by me to see if i want the people who i vaguely know IRL to see it. Plus it has to be worthy of me posting it cause the instagram algorithm combined with the average attention span of an instagram user is terrible for smaller artists like me.

But with tumblr im like so much more casual. tom nook x wilson p higgsbury mpreggers? sure why not. love that i can just post anything for any fandom on here because the algorithm actually works and people are bothered enough to look for what they want!

Fuck I’m almost finished with my latest chapter. It’s the longest one I’ve done as I’ve finally felt brave enough to delve deeper into some of the characters thoughts without thinking it’s just waffling and wow I wished I’d done it sooner 🤣

Oh well, next fic will be much better after all I’ve learned this time round 🥳
