Session 25: Protection of the Serpent

First it was getting captured by cowards who didn’t even show their faces or let them see them, then Sponsor shouting at someone named Hastur, and some sort of discussion-argument over... A deal? What? Then this Hastur asking them if they wanted to secure their own destruction after unblinding them and untying them and then...

“Well, lets make this a little bit more even for you,"

Alexos getting thrown into the ceiling, Aether taking some sort of damage from a green flare of light from Hastur’s eyes, and that was the sign needed for the fight to start.

Hayate was ready for a fight, even with the drugs he’d taken earlier, he was ready to fucking go, but a spark of mixed emotions flared up when he felt Vasuki practically press up behind his eyes. It was a relief to know they were there, that he wasn’t alone, that they’d be there to help if he was too weak himself to help the rest of the team.

But the rampage he’d gone on previously scared him, worried him, making him fear he’d hurt the others if they came to help.

“Don’t hurt anyone but that bitch in yellow if you need to do something.” He mentally muttered before drawing his sword, the lightning bursting into life with a crash as he lunged.

Gunfire, plasma, magic flying-

A swing going at Terrance.

Hayate only noticed it for a moment before a piercing spike of pain lanced his mind, and he could only come up with a single thought in response.

“Protect them.”

Then his body started moving without his consent, watching as it twisted and warped into something like the form he previously took with the bookapeed, but something far more monsterous and serpentine, new limbs growing, eyes emerging, teeth multiplying, growing larger and larger until the bitch in yellow no longer looked massive and towering. Just equal, and fair. Like he wanted it to be, right?

If he could have, he would have covered his ears from the roar that came from his own throat, and then he just watched, felt, the attack with the claws and felt it hit.

And while he had a sense of satisfaction being able to feel that damage get dealt, watch Vasuki tear this bastard apart, he couldn’t help but think of the party. He couldn’t focus on them, look for them, know if they were okay, know if Terrance was okay.

“Kill him- Protect them, please don’t go after them, just focus on this bitch-” He thought while watching the teeth and claws tear and rend.

As soon as it started, it seemed to end with the snap of a neck between his- Vasuki’s, jaws, and they started to consume what was left of the body. He just wanted to look over everyone, make sure everyone was okay, but consuming the body kept them from doing anything like last time, maybe? Kept them from trying to destroy anything else.

They’d protected everyone, Vasuki promised him that they’d do that. He managed to get a glimpse of everyone else, and see that despite being battered, broken, they were all there, all alive...

“So... Uh... How long is this eating going to take?”
