Sonic & Shadow

had an actual more cutsey Valentines day drawing planned, BUT I'm lazy so here's this 😁😁. (More info below)

was orginally going to make Shadow more angry but I felt like him having a softer expression worked better!!

Dont ask me how shadow is holding up sonic, because even I don't know lmao 😭😭. Like after doing the sketch/lineart I realized "how is he being held???". Just try not to think about that to hard because yet again I am to lazy to come up with a solution 😋👍🏼

I feel like people who make Bruce a bad Dad (and also a bad grandpa) to make Dick and Jason Damian’s dad and everyone else’s (for some stupid fucking reason) are in the same group as people who make Sonic the Hedgehog a bad parent

There was an influx of shadow and sonic fan kids, and in almost all of them, he was the shittiest dad on the planet. Like, he raised Tails, why would he be a bad dad????

They’re also the people who make Sonic so incredibly stupid that you wonder how he’s even still alive. It’s flanderization, I’m telling you. They're massacring his character

They make him so stupid, especially around Shadow. I get it, Shadow is the fan favorite, but Sonic is incompetent and isn’t going to automatically lose to Shadow every time. It’s so annoying how you can’t find anything good about Sonic anymore that sticks to his true character

Sonic is smart. Compared to Tails, who is a child genius, it may not look like it to those who are only looking surface deep, but he's incredibly smart, and no one treats him like he is. In modern or high school au's, they'll make him hate reading and get all F's, when he canonically loves reading and traveling and has all this knowledge from his adventures

One of my favorite tags for Sonic is 'Sonic the Hedgehog speaks Japanese,' because it's a really cool headcannon. Additionally, Sonic the Hedgehog is selectively mute and uses sign language as a nod to when Sonic didn't speak. It's super cool and interesting and super underutilized by the fandom

And I know it’s for shipping purposes, I ship Sonic and Shadow too, but why is Sonic the only one getting his character skewed? Is it because he’s the happy-go-lucky one, and people project too much onto Shadow, therefore not really understanding his character and taking every bad trait he has as a slight to themselves; therefore, making them refuse to let Shadow have any bad traits, so they don’t feel attacked??? That only leaves one person in the relationship to project all the bad traits on

Shadow has flaws, Sonic has flaws, Bruce has flaws, and Dick has flaws

I think people self-project too much nowadays. No, I know people so. You are not this character, and this character is not you. Nobody knows you, no offense, but you're not important to this character in any way

This is an excuse for me to rant about Sonic. There’s more to say, but I won’t
