Summary: With the Grand Ball only a day away, preparations are in full swing across Darkwick Academy. While helping Sho choose an outfit for the event, you find yourself facing an entirely different challenge: keeping your jealousy under control. Sho naturally finds the situation hilarious. As admirers gather around him and his shameless flirting pushes every one of your buttons, what begins as playful bickering quickly turns into a heartfelt reminder of where his attention truly lies.
The Grand Ball is tomorrow and that fact has managed to turn Darkwick Academy into complete chaos. Students rushed through hallways carrying decorations, invitations exchanged hands, dresses and suits were discussed with utmost seriousness. Meanwhile, you were standing on the first-floor receiving area, trying very hard not to lose your patience. Specifically because of one person named Sho, the infuriatingly talented and unfortunately for your peace of mind, ridiculously handsome. The sound of shoes against marble echoed through the corridor and you looked up.
Then immediately regretted it. "...You've got to be kidding me."
Sho leaned casually against the railing above you as if he had stepped out of some romance novel. His white polo was partially unbuttoned at the collar, sleeves rolled up carelessly to his elbows, a mustard necktie hung loosely over his neck. His silver-blue hair looked slightly messy, as though he'd been changing outfits for the last hour knowing him, he probably had.
One hand rested lazily on the railing. The other toyed with the necklace hanging around his neck then he bit lightly against the chain and winked directly at you and you just stared, Sho grinned.
"Oh?" His voice dripped with amusement. "That look means you like this one. You looked for three whole seconds."
"No, I didn't."
"You absolutely did."
"I was judging your fashion choices."
"Sure." The smirk on his face grew wider. "You were staring."
You folded your arms. "I was not."
"Liar."
"You are unbelievably annoying."
"And yet you're dating me."
"..."
"..."
"...Unfortunately."
Sho burst out laughing, the sound echoed through the hall and you hated how much you liked hearing it. Unfortunately, there was another problem, several girls stood not far behind you and they were very obviously staring at Sho; whispering, giggling and pointing. One of them nearly squealed when Sho pushed his hair back. Your eye twitched and you slowly turned around, the girls froze as you smiled in an unfriendly way. The kind of smile that silently communicated: Leave immediately. The girls visibly panicked, one grabbed another's arm, the entire group hurried away while bowing apologetically.
"S-Sorry!"
"We were just looking!"
"We're leaving!"
Within seconds, they vanished and a laugh followed from a distance, you turned. Sho was practically folding over the railing, as if he looked entirely too pleased with himself. "Oh, that was priceless."
You narrowed your eyes. "Not a word."
"I didn't even say anything."
"You were thinking about it."
Sho wiped a tear from his eye. "You scared them."
"They were staring and you're my boyfriend." The words left your mouth before you could stop them.
Sho blinked then smiled, a real smile this time different from his usual cocky grin, the kind he reserved only for you. Sho apparently wasn't finished causing trouble, a moment later he pushed himself off the railing and descended the staircase, slowly like he knew exactly what he was doing, which he probably did. You watched him approach, one, two, three steps until he stood directly in front of you, closely as his blue eyes sparkled with mischief.
"What?"
You immediately grew suspicious, that expression never meant anything good.
"What what?"
"That look."
"What look?"
"The one that says you're about to be annoying."
Sho laughed. "You know me too well."
"Unfortunately."
"There it is again."
You tried to maintain your composure, he reached up and gently flicked your forehead.
"Ow."
"You've been glaring at everyone all afternoon."
"They keep looking at you."
"And?"
"And I don't like it."
The confession escaped before you could stop it. For a second, neither of you spoke, Sho stared then his grin returned worse than before. "Oh, you're jealous."
"I am not."
"You absolutely are."
"I am not."
"You are."
You pushed his shoulder, Sho didn't move.
"You enjoy this way too much."
"A little."
"A little?"
"Okay." He laughed. "A lot."
Your irritation only grew which somehow made him happier and you hated that, Sho leaned closer.
"You know something?"
"What?"
"You're cute when you're jealous."
Your face immediately heated. "No." You shoved him again, he caught your wrist effortlessly enough to stop you, his thumb brushed lightly against your hand. The teasing expression softened slightly.
"I mean it."
You blinked. Sho's gaze remained fixed on yours.
"I know I joke around a lot." He admitted it immediately. "But I'm serious about one thing."
The playful atmosphere faded, his voice lowered. "Tomorrow, I'm dancing with you."
Your heart skipped.
"No one else." His fingers tightened slightly around yours.
"Got it?"
You looked away because looking directly at him suddenly felt impossible. "...You better."
Sho laughed softly. "There she is."
The comfortable silence lasted only a few seconds, Sho possessed an incurable condition known as being Sho. He leaned down near your ear far too close, you could feel the warmth of his breath. "If you're this jealous now..." His voice became a teasing whisper. "...maybe I should reward you tomorrow night."
You froze completely, your brain stopped functioning. "What."
Sho's grin widened. "Oh, you heard me."
"SHO."
"What?"
"You can't just say things like that."
"Why not?"
"You know why not."
His shoulders shook with laughter. "You should see your face right now."
You pushed him away immediately hard this time, he actually stumbled a step because he was laughing too much.
"You're impossible!"
"And you're adorable."
"Stop it."
"No."
"Stop."
"Never."
The two of you continued arguing all the way down the corridor. At least, that's what it looked like from the outside, beneath every complaint and every teasing remark was something neither of you needed to say aloud, trust and affection. The certainty that tomorrow, when the ballroom lights illuminated the academy and music filled the grand hall Sho would be waiting for you out of everyone in the room, he would only be looking for one person. Despite all your jealousy, all your worries, and all his shameless teasing, you knew that whenever Sho's eyes found yours, they never lingered anywhere else for long and that was proof enough.

sho doesn't think you deserve to be with him since he's a ghoul
wc: >800
warnings: angst, breaking up
the first time you meet sho, you don’t know what he is. you just know he looks tired in a way that goes deeper than sleep, like something inside him has been breaking for a long time and he’s too used to the sound to notice anymore. he’s sitting alone in the corner of a half-lit cafe, hands wrapped around a cup of coffee that’s gone cold, eyes fixed on the window like he’s waiting for the night to swallow him whole. you should’ve walked past him. you tell yourself that later. but there was something about him, something fragile hidden under his rough exterior. when he looked up, it was like he’d already seen you before.
“you shouldn’t be here this late,” he said softly, voice steady but distant.
“neither should you,” you replied, smiling without really knowing why. that’s how it started. little moments in the dark. whispered conversations at the edges of the city. sho always half-turned away, like he didn’t want to get too close. like he was afraid of what might happen if he did. you noticed things. how his eyes widened when looking at dark corners or roads behind you, but when you turn to look you don't see anything. you noticed the way he talks to his motorcycle like it's a person, but that's normal right? you noticed the way he’d disappear for days and come back with that same hollow look in his eyes, the one that said he’d been fighting something you couldn’t see.
one night, he told you the truth. he didn’t look at you when he said it, just stared down at his hands. “i’m not human,” he murmured. “not anymore, anyway.” the silence that followed felt heavy enough to crush the air out of your chest. he told you he was a ghoul, that he sold his soul to a demon for a wish. sho also told you about the anomalies that he sees now, how he has been tasked to kill them.
“you should run from me,” he said, voice shaking. “i’m not what you think i am. i’m not someone who gets to love. not someone who deserves it.” you wanted to tell him he was wrong. that whatever he was, he was still the boy who listened when you talked, who looked at you like you were something he couldn’t quite believe was real. but he looked at you then and there was so much pain in his eyes that your words caught in your throat.
“sho,” you whispered.
he flinched, like the sound of his name hurt him. “don’t,” he said, shaking his head. “don’t say it like that. like i’m someone worth fighting for.” you reached out anyway. your hand brushed his, and he went completely still, like even that small bit of warmth might undo him.
“thank you for telling me this, sho.”
his eyes glistened, the faintest hint of red at their edges. “it still doesn’t change what i am.”
“no,” you said, “and it doesn't change how i think of you, either.”
for a long time, he didn’t move. then, so quietly you almost missed it, he whispered, “i don’t know how to be loved without breaking the person who tries.”
you didn’t answer with words. you leaned in and pressed your forehead to his, and he trembled beneath your touch. his breath came in shallow bursts, like he was holding back everything he’d spent years trying not to feel.
“you shouldn’t keep doing this,” he said, voice barely a whisper. “you’ll regret it.”
“maybe,” you murmured, “but right now, i don’t.”
and then he kissed you. gently, almost fearfully. his lips were wet with tears that had fallen, and his hands shaking against your skin. it felt like something that couldn’t last. but for a few seconds, he let himself be human. when he pulled away, he looked at you like he was already mourning the loss. “you make me want to be someone i can’t be,” he said.
you touched his cheek, felt the faint tremor beneath your fingertips. “then just be here,” you said. “for now. with me.” he didn’t promise anything, sho never did. but he stayed until the first light of morning began to creep through the cracks in the window. and when he left, he whispered your name like a prayer and a curse all at once.
later, you found a bloodstained note tucked under your door. no signature, no explanation, just five words written in his careful, uneven handwriting: i’m still the monster.
HOW THE VAGASTROM BOYS WOULD ACT IF THEY WERE YANDERES. ft. alan mido, leo kurosagi, & sho haizono
wc : 1.2k
warnings : sfw, gender neutral reader
request : Helloo! I saw that your requests are open and when i saw that you wrote for Frostheim i could not resist (not when there's barely any content for tdb that i could get my grubby hands on, let alone yandere). Anyway! I was thinking how would yan! Vagastrom act around with the reader? Take your time and hopefully this isn't uncomfortable :3
ALAN is the most reasonable, violence-wise. sure, he has an ogre-like quality, but whoever said he wanted to hurt you? and, of course, whoever said he couldn’t hurt the people around you?
he might be one of the few yanderes who understand that you like your friends, and that makes you happy. if you’re happy, he’s happy—simple as that. however, if he starts doubting those “friendly” touches on your arm or the overly obnoxious laughter, he can just as easily take that privilege away.
even with all his ideas, the way he cares for you is oddly innocent. it’s sort of like those kids who take revenge in dodgeball or tag after their crush gets out—except it extends outside of the game…
mostly, it’s just roughing people up so they don’t talk bad about you. in reality, those girls in your class were just pointing out the sauce on your shirt that vaguely looked like something funny.
still, there’s no stopping him, so don’t waste your breath trying to explain your side of the story. he knows what he heard and saw. you don’t need to step in with excuses; you’re too kind for that.
he always has your “happiness” in mind, no matter what he does. this is all for your sake.
he’d definitely have a photo of you in his wallet or, when he goes on missions. maybe even a tiny locket with your picture inside. he’d get teased relentlessly for it, but he’d never stop wearing it.
maybe i’m stretching, but i see him as the type to have a secret shrine to you hidden in his room. it wouldn’t be anything big or extravagant, just something mellow—a lock of your hair here, a framed candid photo there, and a few candles sprinkled in. it gives him motivation, knowing that you’ll be there (in his heart) when he gets hurt because you’ll be there to (poorly) patch him up.
he’d be holding back drool if you bandaged his hands after a mission. you’d just assume his hands were twitching from exhaustion—or some medical term you’re not familiar with—when in reality, he’s trying not to pounce on you and show everyone who you belong to. we have to respect his self-control.
LEO the freak he is. we all saw what this man did with the takeru case—god knows what he’s capable of if he puts his mind to it.
he’s more of a traditional yandere than the other two: stalking, jealousy, manipulation—the works. and he wouldn’t even make it seem like a big deal. somehow, he’d make you so paranoid that you’d turn on everyone else except him, all while acting like it’s just another average afternoon.
he’d have the mindset of a love-sick high school girl crushing on a guy in the hallway who just broke up with her friend—so technically, she can’t like him.
he’d be burning holes into the back of your head, keeping a journal full of manifestations where you run to him and confess your love.
he curses every single person who talks to you or befriends you. he’s the only one worthy of you. why can’t you see that? (probably because he acts like you’re the devil incarnate.)
he’d blackmail some scary-faced sweetheart into chasing you home every day, not in a b-list horror game way, with losing stamina and blood-curdling screams, but in a psychological way. you’d feel someone watching your every move, sensing the breath down your neck as you walked home.
your stalker probably just thinks you’re available—or so leo tells you. “if this little stalker of yours knew you had a boyfriend, they’d back off. especially some scary man from vagastorm.”
alan? aww, that’s so precious leo could just die and take you with him! post it for the world to see!
clearly, he’s talking about the person who has dirt on every single per—no he’s not talking about tohma.
and you can’t forget they need to be attractive. good looking yet mysterious, aloof… are you schizophrenic? what janitor are you talking about?
him. the person is him.
if you have such low expectations for others, maybe you should leave yourself in his care. after all, he’s there for you: to protect you, to listen, to scare off anyone—all for you.
if only you realized he’s the one you should truly be afraid of. a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
soon, you start closing yourself off from your friends, all thanks to leo. but it’s really your fault, isn’t it? he keeps telling you not to trust them. “there’s no one stalking you,” they’d say. “you’re weird for making that up—for what? attention?” they’d accuse. so why bother trusting them when they wouldn’t believe you in the first place?
next thing you know, your friends are avoiding you. and all you have left is leo.
if only you realized they weren’t avoiding you—they were avoiding him. or maybe it was those marks on the back of your neck that you hadn’t noticed yet.
SHO would be the most reasonable of the three. it’s not like he wants to kidnap you and make you taste-test all his dishes while using his thumb to wipe stray sauce off your lips. oh, yeah, no. definitely not… he just doesn’t want to break the bond you already share. besides, it’d be a pain to explain why the honor roll student is locked in his room surrounded by twenty stacks of sandwiches.
there are other ways to get his point across. for example, he might “accidentally” brush against someone looking at you too much—with his motorcycle. who cares if bonnie has to be revoked for a month or two? the point will be made, and it’ll spread across campus.
sho respects both you and the art of cooking too much to consider drugging you. at least at first. but after a few months (weeks at most), he’s finally cracking, giving you the worst case of food poisoning in darkwick’s history (which, in reality, is just a slight tummy ache and a fever).
he’ll take care of you, curse the cafeteria attendant, and insist it wasn’t his cooking. don’t be rude—it’s obviously the school lunches! you know how stingy schools can be.
he’d use your illness as a chance to get closer to you: making soup, hand-feeding you, placing a cold towel on your neck, and rubbing your back as you throw up a third of your body weight. he might even clean your room (and pocket a few things, but who’s counting?).
can’t you see it? he has it all—he’s caring, can take care of you, and even cleans! come and get it while it’s hot, or before he’s off the market!
not strictly yandere, but i can see sho scaring you on a motorcycle ride. he wouldn’t actually scare you, but rev the engine, and go slightly over the speed limit, just enough to have you clinging to him for dear life. he’d memorize your scent and, the second he gets back, he’s inhaling the spot your body touched on his jacket.
can i please request for the valentines day event: prompt 37 with ren, prompt 31 with rui & lastly prompt 32 with sho (for obvious reasons, but still so cute) all x MC
tysm <3
Yes of course. Sorry this is so latee, I got busy. I hope you enjoy it still. Rui’s prompt is made to be gender neutral, and I didn’t mention any specific clothes. I also just guessed how Sho makes him food(his chicken over rice), as I’m not sure how he does. Thank you for requesting and I hope you enjoy.
Prompt 37: “I’ve seen like three couples making out in the last five minutes. It's actually disgusting.”
Prompt 31: Going shopping with their s/o and modeling for them
Prompt 32: Baking/cooking together
Valentine’s prompt list
You sat in the booth of the Mysterious Diner, waiting for Ren to show up. You scrolled through the various posts on Wickhive, head in one of your hands. A minute passed, and the bell on the door dinged, as Ren entered.
His face was full of disgusted, the kind you’d often see him use for nasty anomalies. He plopped himself onto the booth seat across from you, looking away from his phone to look at you.
“What’s happened?” You asked, placing your phone to the side.
“I’ve seen like three couples making out in the last five minutes. It's actually disgusting,” he said, the disgust on his face deepened.
“Gross,” you said, returning the look back at him. Ren sighed, before raising to his feet. He turned to walk towards the bathroom, you grabbed his hand. When he turned to you, you pulled him down and placed a kiss on his cheek.
Ren stood up, a blush on his face. A ‘tch’ escaped his mouth.
“I’m going to get ready now. You better at least order a drink,” Ren said with a frown.
“I will.”
The mall was packed, and you struggled to hold onto the bag over Rui’s shoulder. When you found a place to stand that was out of people’s way, you stopped. There were several stores around, but you saw one that piqued your interest.
You walked in, and saw all the nice clothing. You went over to one, found your size and picked it up. Rui pointed out a top that was in your style. You grabbed two other pieces of clothing, and headed for the changing room.
You opened the curtain, wearing the top Rui has pointed out. Rui stood outside, when he saw you, he blushed. He opened his mouth to say something, but he kept stuttering.
“That looks really good on you,” he finally managed to get out, blushing hard. You smile at him before going back into the changing room. You showed him the other clothes, each time his blush increased. When you finished deciding what you wanted to buy, you grabbed them and headed for the register. Rui ended up paying for them, after rushing to do so before you could do it yourself.
“Thank you for coming to the mall with me,” you said, hand returning to the strap of the bag on Rui’s shoulder.
“No. thank you for inviting me,” he said.
Sho had invited you to come cooking for Valentine’s day. You quickly accepted, one for a chance to eat more of his cooking, and two to see him. He was going to show you how to make his good chicken on rice.
Sho was already standing in the kitchen with his apron on, when you arrived. The ingredients were already portioned out, waiting to be cooked.
“Hi Sho,” you said, giving him a kiss on the cheek, and grabbed the other apron dangling from his arm. You put it on and turned towards him.
Sho got started cutting up the chicken, while you placed the rice into a rice maker. Sho finished and handed you the cutting board, you placed the chicken into the wok.
You stood over it, mixing it up with a wooden spoon. Sho came up behind you, and hugged you from behind. While he was still behind you, he held your hand, stirring the chicken along with you. The rice cooker beeped, and Sho moved to put them on some plates.
The chicken finished a couple minutes later, and you pulled the wok off the hot stove. You grabbed the plates Sho had put the rice on, and put the chicken on it. You turned back towards Sho, who squeezed the sauce onto them. You held out the other plate towards Sho, who took it.
Summary: He's tried to convince Leo that you're a cool person, to which the former just scoffs and accuses Sho of having a crush. Honestly, the reaction is obnoxious – people of the opposite sex are perfectly able to have platonic friendships. Just because Sho's taken to bringing an extra lunch for you on training days so you can eat together after, and he enjoys spending time with you, and you're pretty and smell good even after an hour of sparring, doesn't mean he has a crush.
Pairing: Haizono Sho x Reader x Kurosagi Leo

"If you can't do it what's even the point of taking you on missions?"
Leo's condescending, disappointed tone cuts you like a knife. Your stigma-enhancing ability, one of the only reasons you're supposed to be useful at this academy, didn't work on Sho during the mission.
"You just expect us to protect you? You're dead weight. Right, Sho?"
You tune out the rest of their conversation as shame flares in your chest, hot and painful. As much as you want to fight Leo's cruel words, the inherent truth behind them clogs your throat. Because he's right. You can't fight, you don't know anything about anomalies, and you've had to be rescued in every mission even when your ability did work.
He doesn't have to be such a dick about it, though. Stupid finger-hearting TikTok asshole. Harsh truths are even harsher when they come from someone you dislike, and you've disliked the pretty, silver-haired influencer ever since you met him, when he unnecessarily antagonized your friends just for his amusement. The impression has only been further compounded by his attitude during the mission, and just how convincingly he was able to spin tales and fake emotions and tears to convince his audience. Leo is a manipulative bastard, and you don't trust him one bit.
Unfortunately, that doesn't make any of his current words less valid. At this rate, you're going to die sitting on your ass while the ghouls do all the work. You only have a year until your curse kills you, and you've already almost died more than once. So why are you being so timid and hesitant? Might as well risk earlier death by giving it your all than sit passively and hope everything works out.
Your resolve grows, and by the time you're back at your own chapel-dorm, you've made a decision.
~~~~~
Sho blinks as he arrives at the Vagastrom Pit at lunch, because for some reason the honor student is already there. Looking at you gives him a twinge of shame – sure, he'll scam rich assholes with Leo and follow his plots, but he's never almost caused an innocent person's death before. Especially one who has done nothing but try to help others, the entire time he's known you.
The look of panic on your face, the way you had tried to reach out – still trusting him to save you despite his failure – had plagued his dreams last night, and seeing you solid, safe, and alive in front of him now is more of a relief than he wants to admit.
"What are you doing here?" he asks, making you squeak and almost drop your phone, and he resolutely does not notice that it's quite cute. He doesn't really deserve to.
For some reason you're the one who looks guilty, despite having done nothing wrong. And then he notices you're wearing athletic gear rather than your usual uniform.
"Alan told you to come here at lunch for training, right?" you ask, standing up and tossing your phone carelessly into your bag to give him your full attention in a way Leo never does. "I want to join."
"Are you crazy?" asks Sho incredulously, wondering why on earth you would voluntarily sign up for what is most likely going to be a beatdown. Based on how the mission went, you've never even been anywhere near a fight before coming to Darkwick. So why this?
"No. Maybe." you reply, your face determined. "But I'd rather be crazy than useless."
Oh. So that's why.
Alan arrives right then, which is probably a good thing because Sho feels a nauseating mixture of shame and – admiration? The reminder of Leo's jibes makes guilt bubble in his stomach, but something about the staunch resolve on your face fills his chest with a warmth akin to the first time he held your hand on the mission. Or maybe it's an after effect of you enhancing his stigma.
Sho's not really sure, but he does decide then and there that he is going to do his best to make it up to you.
~~~~~
"Oh my god, this is so good," you practically moan as you take a huge bite of your sandwich. "Sho, you should charge for this." You're so invested in your meal that you miss the way the tips of his ears turn pink at your praise.
"It's just a sandwich," he replies, brushing off your comment and resisting the urge to twirl his silver hair like a schoolgirl. The two of you are eating in the courtyard after getting pummeled by Alan for the better half of the lunch hour, sitting in the grass because all the benches are already occupied.
He shouldn't feel this pleased by your approval, but as he's gotten to know you, he's come to respect and value your opinion. Sure, maybe at first he had begun spending time with you out of guilt, but you really are cool – fun and snarky in a way he hadn't noticed during the mission. Hanging out with you is comfortable, easy, and he doesn't have to worry about silly intrigues and gossip. You're honest and upfront in a way Leo has never been, and while he loves his best friend, being around you is refreshing.
And you're determined, never complaining during the training sessions no matter what Alan has you do despite the fact that you're clearly out of your element. Sho supposes Alan saw that in you long before he did, because the captain seems completely unsurprised by your conviction. It makes him feel a little ashamed in a different way than guilt – that he has nothing to strive for other than whatever Leo comes up with.
Sho kind of wishes the three of you could hang out together, but Leo's made it clear he has no interest in ever interacting with you, and you look distinctly uncomfortable any time Leo is in the vicinity. Which Sho can't exactly blame you for, considering his friend's behavior.
He's tried to convince Leo to give you a chance, to which the former merely scoffs and accuses Sho of having a crush.
"No, I'm serious," you insist, jabbing the half-eaten sandwich at him for emphasis. "The fried egg is salted perfectly, and I never thought of including green onion with other veggies. It's really delicious."
The sweetly earnest expression on your face brings that familiar warmth to his chest, and Sho can't help but smile when he notices a dab of mayo on your nose.
"So you're saying I should start charging you for these lunches?" he teases, using his thumb to wipe the condiment off your face and absently noting how soft your skin feels.
"What? I don't get VIP privileges for being adorable?" you reply with a pout that is, indeed, adorable. Sho just snorts at your audacity as he wipes his hand on a napkin.
"No, you don't. But I suppose I can give you friend privileges since we're both being physically abused together."
Your eyes sparkle when you smile, and Sho feels that fluttery warmth again. They really do need to do more testing with your ability.
"Thanks Sho, you're the best," you announce happily, dropping your head on his shoulder affectionately. "I'm glad you're my friend. And not just for the food, either."
How do you still smell so nice after all that sweating?
~~~~~
TikTokBitch: Hey honor roll
You: What do you want
TikTokBitch: I know ur free
TikTokBitch: Come to the garage quick
Your brows crinkle as you scowl at your phone. Does he really think you're going to just rush over like an obedient little puppy? If his personality matched his good looks, you'd be happy to help him. It's truly a waste that such a gigantic turd has such a pretty exterior.
You pause, an idea sparking in your head.
You: I will if you owe me a favor
TikTokBitch: Whatever fine just hurry up
~~~~~
Leo rolls his eyes in annoyance as you stroll into the Pit, tape wrapped around your knuckles as if you're actually going to fight.
He'd been surprised when your "favor" had been to spar with him, of all things. Are you trying to impress him or something? Maybe you think close physical contact will make him like you. Sad, really.
Still, he had stupidly agreed to give you a favor in his impatience to hear more clandestine conversations, and now he's here wasting his precious time. He thought you'd learned your place after your mission together, but apparently he'll have to humble you again. Leo isn't exactly a fighter, but he is still a ghoul, and that means an NPC like you doesn't stand a chance.
Which is why it's laughable that you're stretching as if this is serious, like it's a real pit match rather than just the two of you here at night. Leo hasn't even told Sho, because he doesn't like the way his friend seems to be getting closer to you by the day.
Leo contemplates how Sho has been spending his lunch hours with you. Does he actually have a crush on you despite his denials? You're not even that interesting.
He narrows his eyes as he watches you finish warming up, trying to understand what Sho sees in you.
You are kind of brave, he supposes, considering you've been a normal person without any knowledge of this side of the world until recently. And you have a pretty face, when it's not twisted into a sour expression every time you see him. You also have a nice ass, he vaguely notes as you finish warming up. Then he realizes he's ogling and snaps out of it, irritated because you're definitely wearing those little shorts to show yourself off in a way your uniform skirt doesn't.
He really needs to get Sho off campus so he remembers other girls exist, because this is ridiculous. You aren't special, and Sho obviously needs to be reminded of that.
~~~~~
"I win," you sing out smugly, smirking down at the ghoul you've pinned beneath you. Leo's pretty face exudes irritation, if not a little bit of shock, which just serves to boost your ego even more. Not for the first time, you lament that such beautiful golden eyes and sharp cheekbones belong to an asshole like him.
"Don't get cocky," he hisses in frustration, too stunned to do anything but glare. "Just because you caught me off guard, doesn't mean you're any less use–"
– SLAP.
You are so sick of his shit. Perhaps he did underestimate you, but that doesn't make your victory any less valid. If you've learned anything from Alan and Sho (other than that it's possible to be sore in muscles you didn't even realizes existed), it's that there are no rules in a real fight. When you're trying to survive, any and all possibilities should be taken advantage of. The one time you managed to land a hit on Sho (not that it caused any actual damage), he hadn't been pissed and petulant. He'd been proud, approval for you shining from his handsome face.
Leo, on the other hand, can't seem to stand the idea of anyone being better than him. Or even having more attention than him. All he does is manipulate and pull down everyone around him, and you are done hearing the poison that drips from his lips. You open your own mouth to give him a piece of your mind when you feel it.
It being something stirring beneath you, and you're reminded that you are straddling the TikTok asshole in a rather compromising position. One glance at his face shows reddening skin from your slap and shock in his golden eyes.
What the fuck.
"G-get off me," he mutters, staunchly looking anywhere but at you as a rosy flush creeps up his neck. Holy shit. Did slapping him… turn him on?
It's the first time you've ever seen him this flustered, and as disgusted as you are, a petty part of you is pleased to finally have the upper-hand. For this small period of time, you seem to be the one in control, and that feeling is… satisfying in a way you're not currently ready to acknowledge.
So you make a somewhat questionable decision. Instead of scrambling off him as you probably should, you grind against him just ever so slightly. Leo's gaze meets yours, wide in surprise as you feel him harden beneath you, and at the edge of your vision you see his fingers twitch as his hands inch toward your hips.
You slap his other cheek, and feel him twitch against your shorts despite the way his eyes burn with rage. You give him your sweetest smile, infinitely pleased to have confirmed your suspicions, the sting of your palms a satisfying proof of victory.
Then, you do what any other vindictive human would do. You flick his forehead and get up, very charitably resisting the urge to kick him before walking away.
Before he can do anything other than gawk and splutter, Alan and Sho enter the room. Perfect timing actually, because despite your bravado you actually have no idea what to do next other than run away as realization of what you had just done crashes into you.
"Oh hey guys!" you chirp happily, doing what you do best and shoving the event into a dusty corner of your brain to avoid thinking about it. You prance over to the two and tackle Sho in a hug, just to annoy your opponent even further. "I beat Leo!"
Alan's lips quirk into what, for Alan, counts as a smile, and he pats your head gently.
"Good work."
You still haven't really decided if you have the best luck, or the worst. Sure, you've been cursed by a creepy one-eyed flower to die within a year, and sure you're basically Darkwick's slave and periodically sent on dangerous missions with superhumans of questionable mental stability, but well.
At least they're hot.
And most of them treat you like a human being, other than perhaps Jin who sees you as a glorified chore-peasant, and Leo who perhaps after today will stop looking at you like gum stuck to his shoe.
"You've been training with them?"
You turn to see the man in question, looking pissed but otherwise back to normal as if nothing has happened. He's still looking at you like you're unworthy of his acknowledgement, and you can't help but antagonize him.
"Yeah, maybe you should too. It seemed like you were having a hard time out there."
His expression twists – a mixture of furious and mortified – and it's more than enough to have made all this training with it.
Sho chortling as he teases Leo for losing to you is just the icing on the cake.
Hi ! I wanted to say I love your work a lot, especially those stories about Tokyo Debunker characters going to the future !! Would you mind doing one with Sho please ?
A bun in the oven
Cw: Hyde slips a future potion into Sho's drink without him knowing, reader described as pregnant
Wc: 1,2K
Notes: if there is something in the new chapter that contradicts anything in here, no it doesn't (haven't gotten around to reading it jiji)
For some reason this doesn't read like I wanted it to but it's kind of cute sigh
Sometimes muscle memory takes over when Sho cooks, zoning out and looking at nothing while cutting vegetables or mixing batter, more than once freaking Leo out at his zombie like state.
It just came so naturally after spending so much time in his hobby, mincing garlic, salting water and reducing the sauce. It isn't until he dips his chopsticks in his mouth that he snaps back.
An horrible itching and burning inside his mouth waking him from his trance. He quickly throws aside the offending chopsticks and hurries to the sink to fill a glass of water.
Without a care, he throws his head as he chugs the water faster than he ever shotgunned a beer. Not even caring to wipe the droplets slipping from his lips to his chin and down his neck.
There is only one reason he would cook something like that, he thinks, god-damned Leo and his hellish spicy things. He always tells him that he won't taste anything but the chili oil and jalapeno but he just rolls his eyes and tells him to do as told.
That damned brat, how can he even eat this bullshit without losing his tongue? Maybe he lost his sense of taste after chewing on his special artifact so much, he insists it doesn't taste like anything but some anomalous chemical in it must have ruined his tongue.
Footsteps sound behind him but Sho doesn't pay it too much mind, must be leo, he thinks while swishing water inside his mouth and spitting it out. The last time he spits it out he is lucky it didn't go up his nose at the unexpected hug. Arms wrapping around his waist and someone's head resting on his shoulder.
A soft voice talks just behind him, the sweetness dripping from it too real to be Leo's “Thanks for cooking for me, love, I know you hate spicy with your whole soul after Hyde tricked you” was that…? If Leo was pulling his leg again he swears to God he will never tell him anything ever. Just one time he tells Leo he likes to spend time with you -maybe a little too much to be like friends- and he has never known peace since. Whenever Leo gets slightly bored his little crush is something so easy to exploit, teasing about white day's gifts, sending him photos of couple's discounts at stores, links to rings with obnoxious remarks like ‘Better hope they have cheap taste’ or ‘your food truck better be making some good revenue otherwise I see it hard. I'm not lending you even one yen’
Ripping him away from his thoughts, the muscles under his skin tremble and shudder as if an electric current went through them as your lips fall just beneath the angle of his scapula, an almost mockingly honest ‘mhwa’ follows as you get away. Luckily you didn't do it as he was pouring the blistering oil in the bowl or when he was cutting the garlic, Sho is sure he would have spilled oil all over himself or sliced his finger open.
“Whatever. It should be ready” he mumbles as he drags the cutting board and pot where the oil was boiled to the sink to scrub them.
Without a peep you grab the bowl and walk off to the kitchen island.
“So how was the truck today?”
“Hyde was hanging around all day and wanted to watch how I did everything, such a nuisance.”
“Like a little kid! Maybe that is why he was so happy at having a nephew, he wanted someone close to his maturity!”
Letting out a small laugh to let you know he heard you, his mind starts chewing and begins to understand what you said. ‘nephew’ stands particularly up, he is Hyde's only sibling, so that would mean… no, there is no way, is it?
And for once, he turns around to see you, not dressed in school uniform and loafers with tidy and neat hair but rather you are on the stool wearing a t-shirt he has been thinking about buying for a few days and your hair on a messy bun. But that is seen as normal over your hand, spotting a ring over the sage's ring, resting over a very noticeably pregnant stomach.
Oh, fuck, it wasn't a prank, that fucking masked creep truly got that damned potion. That is why he was so fucking annoying to get him to share a drink. He should have known it wasn't from the goodness of his heart. Was he getting back at him from when he stole his beers? Immature bastard.
“Huh? Is something wrong” lazily you lean back and look at him wondering.
“... No, not at all”
Leaving the dishes halfway done, he sits on the stool next to yours and stealing glances at you
“baby, he is kicking, have a feel” without giving him a second to pull away his hand lies flat against your swollen stomach, and soon is greeted by a harsh kick from the depths of your body “he is kicking like crazy”
“Are you sure it isn't because… he hates spicy” it takes him a second to not call that an ‘It’. He does like you, maybe enough to have a serious relationship and not just mess around like he always does but it's a wide jump from the ring around your fingers and having a fully fledged family.
“If that was why then your son shouldn't make me crave spicy food!”
“Are we sure it's not Leo's?” He jokes, unsure how to continue the conversation, and gets a smack in the arm while you laugh “hey, I think it's a fair enough q-” suddenly another smack lands on him but this time it's harsher and directly on his face, accompanied by such and annoying voice.
“Shohei-kun~~” his brother is hunched over him and slapping his face, there isn't much worry on his face as annoyance, as if him being out of it because of something he slipped in his drink “finally~♪ I would have thought ghouls have a higher tolerance to potions but doesn't seem like it”
Sho’s hands fly to Hyde's collar, or so he thought, his body must still be halfway asleep given how easily he dodged his grasp.
“No need to get so aggressive so soon! I just wanted you to tell me how your future was going to be but I doubt you are speaking, right?” Wobbly kneeling up Sho only is capable of snarling a string of curses making his brother, who rolls his eyes and helps him up on a chair.
“You should get better in a few minutes, how about you tell me all about your little dream when I come back~?” And hurriedly he rushes out of his own office to dodge a book thrown by his little brother.
Sighing into his arms, it seems that the only way to calm his stomach and stop his head from spinning was closing his eyes and anchoring himself to the desk. Stupid Hyde and his stupid potions.
Cracking his left eye slightly at the buzzing of his phone, he is faced by the only text he couldn't stomach to answer right now. Even a text from Leo or Hyde would be better.
Senpai: Sho, are you fine? I couldn't find you at recess
Senpai: call me when you see this, don't make me worried!!
He should call you but how could he look at you in the eye after that “damned masked freak”.
No smut at all. Only fluff and definitely some…unseriousness. Do not ask for smut because 1 most of the characters in the show are children and are never seen aged up in the future. Reigen may have some suggestiveness but like kinda cranky yk funny. Requests will be available!!
❍ She is a third year student in Lightias Academy and the Captain of the Chiyo House.
❍ She was born in the Nomura family, one of the most prestigious and noble families in the archipelago alongside the family of Chiasa, Noriko and Fuyuko. She is the heiress of the family, expected to succeed her mother who is the current matriarch after she is done with her studies in the academy. Her family is highly respected by everyone and very influential for they were responsible for keeping the traditional beliefs and culture of their islands, tasked with protecting certain artifacts or items that are only used for ceremonial events, festivities or special rituals. Not to mention, the Nomura family is a matriarchy where only women should succeed the position as the head of the family because their ancestor had a special ability that can only be passed down to her daughters and granddaughters in a matriarch lineage which is the same ability Ayane has inherited from her mother.
❍ Ayane was raised by her mother alone, never having seen her father but her mother's love and affection made up for it and never felt herself yearning for a father, always being held by the arms of her mother who sings lullabies to her every night and always wake up to see her smiling face first thing in the morning. From a young age, her mother decided to personally teach her daughter herself in certain topics but did have professional teachers she trust to give her lessons regarding the history of their family, the duties and responsibilities that comes being the only heiress and most of all, embrace the ability passed down to them from their ancestor because it's what makes them special and powerful to protect themselves and their loved ones.
❍ She was raised in a traditional way but did received knowledge of the modern world so she's not that ignorant of the technology or any of the sort, including being aware of the issues and problems outside her mansion. Many of the female ghouls have commented Ayane is the epitome of grace and elegance with how she perfectly conducted herself like a true noble lady, befitting her status that it caused Fuyuko and Chiasa to feel a bit embarrassed around her because she is the role model of what an heiress should be but she told them she didn't have to be like her for the way they are right now makes them unique and likes them just the same.
❍ Out of the female ghouls, Ayane is the most knowledgeable when it comes to the traditional practices, culture, items, events, stories and history of Japan than anyone else in the academy including knowledge of other countries because of how much she loved reading books about each nation's culture, traditions and history. She is considered as the second most knowledgeable person in the school after Rosa, the Captain of the Oblivia House who has far too knowledge due to her immortal life in the world.
❍ She may look like a graceful and elegant lady with a kind smile on her face but when it comes to her close friends or those she trusts, she let herself go and express her quite easily, showing much she prefered to be free in front of those who likes her being who she is, not where she came from or her family background. She is one of the unfortunate souls who gets a lot of teasing from her fellow ghouls, wanting to see her flustered and her reactions never failed to amused them but they knew when to stop teasing the Captain of the Chiyo House in serious situations. She doesn't mind their teasing because it's harmless and they never really mean any of their words, giggling at the end of the day if it makes them that happy then it makes her happy, too.
❍ Ayane is sensitive to people's feelings and emotions, being always careful not to breach any subject that they may not talk about and has a sharp intuition of their true intentions hidden by their facade, feeling uneasy all of a sudden whenever she is facing someone which is a sign to her that means the person she is against doesn't have pure intentions at all and is using a "mask" to conceal it. The heiress may not show it but she actually dislikes people who are two-faced or back stabber, making her question if the time she spent with them were all fake and not genuine at all, merely acting the part of a character that aren't their true selves and is never really honest to anyone, not even once. The girl isn't very fond of actors or famous celebrities in the entertainment industry involved in acting because she later found out from her mother's most trusted lady-in-waiting that her biological father was an extremely talented actor who broke the matriarch's heart and left her alone to raise their daughter herself, completely wasting his only chance to become her consort and enjoying the privileges being the husband of powerful woman like all the other consorts before him. If there is anything she learned from her mother's story, someone with a mask and putting on an act should not be trusted.
❍ She is actually Nora's closest friend and the first year student calls her casually without a honorific whenever they were together. Their relationship isn't that of a senior and junior but more like an older sister and younger sister type of relationship because Ayane's mother was an acquaintance of Nora's mother and the heiress was asked by her mother to look after her friend's daughtet as a small favor which she gladly complied. Ayane really likes how genuine and sincere Nora is, always feeling comfortable beside the female werewolf because she has a pure heart that cannot be tainted so easily and likes how well they get along surprisingly well despite meeting each other for the first time. She has some fondness towards people who are very sincere and genuine in their actions and words, making her react positively more than those who aren't.
❍ Her Ghoulmate is Subaru. She will meet him later in the memories of MC, possessing her body and going through her memories to find out the truth.
𝕳𝖎𝖓𝖆𝖒𝖎 𝕸𝖎𝖞𝖆𝖟𝖆𝖐𝖎 - 𝕺𝕮 𝖋𝖔𝖗 𝕳𝖆𝖐𝖚
❍ She is a third year student in Lightias Academy and Vice Captain of the Chiyo House.
❍ She was born from a family of priestesses who worships a God and owns a shrine dedicated to that God, spending the rest of their lives praying to the entity for their blessings and good fortune upon their family and descendants. Hinami has two older sisters, two older brothers and one younger brother and one younger sister which means her family has seven children including her. The moment she was born, her parents had been expecting her to inherit a purification ability from her mother or an ability from her father by letting her enter a ritual to determine what she will manifest but turns out she doesn't have any of those, making her a "defective" and everything drastically changed from that day forward for her.
❍ Ever since it was revealed she has no powers or talents to be a priestess, her family have started to treat her badly. Her older sisters mocked her, her older brothers humiliating her and her younger brother has no respect for her whatsoever, always throwing insults at her whenever she was walking back to her room. Among her siblings, only her younger sister was the only who genuinely cared for her and tried to visit her in secret to check on her, always worrying about her health or bringing her proper meal so she could eat comfortably. Hinami hates her entire family for treating her like this just because she doesn't have an ability to be useful to them but hopes her younger sister wouldn't be harmed by them, promising herself that should they really hurt her younger sister, she won't show any mercy to them after she gets in a position she can overpower them.
❍ Shockingly, her younger sister persuaded Hinami to escape in the dead of night because she heard from their parents of how they are considering of selling her older sister off for marriage with another family just to receive some benefits from it since they can't bear to sell her other two older sisters and upon hearing that, she was horrified. Hinami didn't want to leave, worried that her family might find out it was her who let her escape and receive punishment from their mother but her younger sister assured her they won't find out because they wouldn't dare imagine their youngest child to do that due to her character. Hinami promised to her she would come back and bring her younger sister away from them, sharing a hug before she slips away silently in midnight, unknowingly awakening as a ghoul in the process.
❍ A teacher of the academy sensed her power and had a serious but gentle conversation with Hinami, offering her to seek refuge and protection of their school and at the same time, helping her to achieve her personal goals to take down her family and see her younger sister again. She agreed on the condition the academy will aid her in taking care of her family and take legal actions against them, wanting to have the ownership of everything her family owned as a payback for all they have to her. This is where she met Ayane and Shiori during their days as first year students when the heiress wasn't their Captain back then.
❍ When she became a second year student, she found out she actually has purification ability and it unlocked her true powers. Turns out she has an absurd of pure energy like a bottomless well, making it extremely hard for her to control the amount of pure energy she has and whenever she is in the vicinity where spirits, ghosts and yokai are, they would instantly run away to avoid themselves being harmed or affected by her unbelievable purification energy. According to Rosa, Hinami doesn't need to lift a finger when she is near curses, illusions, yokai, ghosts or anything supernatural because her energy can simply make them go away making it a bit sad for the young priestess to see real spirits in person, let alone talking to them to see if there is anything she can do to help them. But there are rare times when spirits and yokai are allowed to approach her despite the pure energy she has and Hinami finds out that creatures who don't have ill intentions towards her or her allies can approach her but she can still kill them off nonetheless so they would act pretty submissive whenever she is around the area to avoid themselves getting "purified" by her.
❍ She and Tsukiko are very close and their abilities shockingly worked well together where the priestess represents the boundaries of the souls while Death's Maiden takes care of the life and death cycle of all creatures. The two Vice Captains make quite a deadly combo and are threats to the yokai and ghosts of both worlds because they are scary and blesses by the gods. Even the supernatural beings has implicit agreement not to get on their bad side if they don't want to be sent away by them. Hinami is a chill and easy going person, preferring to take things in her own pace and make sure everything is fine while the Captain is away, not wanting to make everyone panic and cause even more trouble than the one they have now. She has inherited her ancestor's special ability that was protected by the God her family worships and fully accepts her role as the chosen priestess to serve the God by building a shrine dedicated to them in school with an extra land for it to be built and have the entity transfer their protection on the academy instead in her family in the condition the students of all the seven houses gives them a heartfelt offering in their altar once a day.
❍ Hinami is protective of her close friends, afraid of losing them because of her experience with her family, always losing anyone who would dare to show kindness to her and will do anything to keep them away from her parents and siblings except for her younger sister who she still worries to this day, wondering how she is doing right now and hoping no one would find out she was the one who helped her escape. Everyone in the Chiyo House really liked how reliable and thoughtful she is, guiding them as another dependable leader whenever Ayane isn't available at the moment and feel very safe when she's with them during their missions because her purification energy instantly covers the area, preventing any malicous spirits to approach them easily.
❍ Her Ghoulmate is Haku. She will meet him later in the body of MC, possessing it to get through her memories and find out the truth.
𝕾𝖍𝖎𝖔𝖗𝖎 𝕬𝖐𝖎𝖞𝖆𝖒𝖆 — 𝕺𝕮 𝖋𝖔𝖗 𝖅𝖊𝖓𝖏𝖎
❍ She is a third year student in Lightias Academy and a member of the Chiyo House.
❍ She is the daughter of an extremely famous writer and author known for his literature works that are greatly favored by many noble and powerful families as well as loved by several thousand book lovers who always have a copy of his works in their bookshelves, always reading it again and again of how much the words written on those pages resonated with their hearts. Her mother is also famous as well, coming from a family known for their impeccable and unique calligraphy styles that became the reason why her father fell in love with her mother in the first place. She has a younger sister who is the Vice Captain of Medisca House and despite being in two different houses, the two sisters still spend their time together whenever the other has free time or when they both have leisure time on their hands, letting them able to have some sister time.
❍ Shiori inherited her love of reading stories and novels from her father, finding herself lost in the words described in each page and she took up the pen to write her own story, wanting to share her stories to others just like her father. Her parents encouraged her to try publishing her very first novel because her father's manager read through her manuscripts that was placed on the table one day and instantly liked it, asking Shiori if she is interested in letting them publish it for her with her father's permission. The moment her first novel got published, the youthful readers became fans of her writing and appreciated her style in the words she used on the pages, saying that she is different from her father and relies on herself to write a story that none has ever done before. Before she knew it, she began releasing each novel that became a hit just as good as her father was and began to release volumes of those novels due to how extremely popular it was, readers getting so desperate to read the next chapter whether it was a prequel, sequel, series or anything to get their hands on it as it's written by her own hands.
❍ Her novels also became popular at the academy to the point their librarian had to make a separate space filled many novels written not just by Shiori but including her father's works as well, couldn't help deciding to choose between the works of the father and daughter so the librarian chose both so everyone can equally enjoy reading it. The students favors Shiori's works because her writing is suited to the youth's taste while her father's works is suited to the taste of the ones with more sophistication, intrigue and those who really loved deep meanings that are very heartfelt to them or in simple words, for those who are deep book lovers. Everybody knows the author herself is a student in the academy but they had an implicit agreement not to bother their favourite writer because as her fans, they shouldn't be crowding her too much and let her have some normalcy in her life which she greatly appreciated and in return for their silent kindness, she makes sure to publish the next volume of her novels weekly or monthly depending on how much she managed her time as part of the Chiyo House and seeing her younger sister.
❍ Shiori completes Ayane and Hinami as a trio of knowledge where each girl is a real walking human encyclopedia that knows everything about culture, tradition, gods, rituals, and literature works. The other Captains would seek them for their opinions and suggestions whenever they have a mission that involves traditions and cultural beliefs so they wouldn't disrespect the innocents who firmly believed in them. The young writer always likes to ramble on and on about her inspirations of her new story or chapter to the younge heiress and priestess because the two of them really understand the things she wished others would understand her the way they do for her and they are great listeners, always listening with attention with a serene background that fits the atmosphere between the trio.
❍ All of the female ghouls are fans of her novels and some of them can't help asking her to spoil them a little bit of the next volume of the stories which she always rejects with a mysterious smile, saying that her chapters will leave them amazed just like the first time they read her book. She likes to write down her manuscripts whenever an inspiration strikes out of nowhere and once she does, she'll flipping through her pages and write it all down before it goes away from her mind, forgetting the world all around her and solely focusing on her pen and book, writing down the words she wished to convey.
❍ Even though she is a writer, she is just as capable as the Captain and Vice Captain of the house to guide their members with encouragement and hope. The Chiyo House members trusts her just as much as they do with Ayane and Hinami because she showed them how to resolve their problems creatively and gave them great guidance whenever they want to someone to ask advice. Safe to say, they trust her unconditionally and have a silent agreement to have faith in the writer for unknown reasons which she appreciated because this shows how strong her bond is with them.
❍ Everyone in the academy are well-aware of how much the writer dotes on her younger sister who is the Vice Captain of the Medisca House and the two sisters are extremely close with each other. Shiori always make time in her busy schedule to visit Hitomi, her younger sister, to check on her and confide in her a lot of things she doesn't tell to Ayane and Hinami as only sisters do. Even though her sister is completely different from her in terms of their talents, goals and beliefs, they still found a way to accept the other and support one another's dreams. Between the two of them, the youngest one is more protective of her older sister because Shiori can be a little dense in certain things that should have raise alarms in her mind but can't see any of that unless someone points it out to warn her.
❍ Her Ghoulmate is Zenji. She will meet him later in the body of MC, going through her memories to find out the truth.
