Literally paused episode 32 just to remove this from my brain.
That's okay, buddy, we're from the Federation union
i think about this specific shrek scene whenever i remind myself that dante said this to vergil.
Is this anything?
I've thought about it and after intense consideration I have concluded that Shrek does not count as a Monster Lover Romcom [pause for raucous booing] I know, I know, but LISTEN.
Monster Loving, as a genre, is inherently a cross species affair. And Fiona was already an ogre. Sure only half the time, and she was deeply in denial about it, but the fact remains.
And it's a beautiful story about Monster Self Acceptance, but ogre x ogre is not technically "Monster Loving" because there's no taboo.
Beauty and the Beast gets honorable mention, but since The Beast turns back into a human, same as Belle, it's in fact just monster-baiting us
Therefore, with the utmost regret, I must inform you that Twilight owns the title of: First True Monster Lover Romcom (You may now resume booing)
