Note: if youre sick I hope you get better soon!
Jason Todd had faced a lot of things in his life-- gunfire, gang wars, the Joker--but nothing could’ve prepared him for you with a stuffy nose and a sore throat. Absolutely nothing.
You were sprawled dramatically across the couch like you were auditioning for a soap opera, three blankets piled on top of you, surrounded by tissues, cough drops, and a half-drunk cup of tea that had long gone cold.
He stood in the doorway, arms crossed, wearing that tired, half-amused look that meant he was trying not to laugh.
“Don’t look at me like that,” you rasped.
“Like you’re judging me silently.”
Jason walked into the room, the faintest grin tugging at his mouth. “Babe, you’ve been moaning for the last hour like someone stabbed you. You’ve got a cold.”
You sniffled miserably, glaring at him through watery eyes. “A severe cold. My immune system is fragile and poetic.”
Jason chuckled, shaking his head. “Poetic, huh? Yeah, I’ll write that on your tombstone: Here lies my dramatic girlfriend, taken too soon by mild congestion.”
You started a coughing fit when you gasped dramatically. “You’re heartless. I could be dying.”
He crouched beside the couch, one big hand brushing your hair off your forehead. His touch was gentle rough knuckles, soft fingertips. “You don’t feel like you’re dying,” he said. “You feel like someone who needs soup and sleep.”
“I can’t sleep,” you groaned. “If I fall asleep, I’ll stop breathing through my nose and suffocate.”
Jason blinked. “You know how ridiculous that sounds, right?”
“Love me through it,” you whined, reaching for him like a damsel in distress. “Hold me before I go.”
He rolledhis eyes but he still leaned in and let you grab his hoodie, tugging him down until he was half bent over you. “You’re lucky you’re cute,” he muttered.
“I’m adorable” you corrected weakly, voice muffled against his chest. “And contagious. You should kiss me to share the burden.”
Jason laughed low in his throat. “You’re not sucking me into your plague pit.”
“You already breathe the same air!” you argued, looking up at him with watery eyes. “What’s one little kiss between doomed lovers?”
“Doomed lovers,” he repeated with a grin. “You’ve been watching too many period dramas.”
“Maybe,” you said softly. “But those girls had guys who brought them tea and didn’t mock their suffering”
That made him pause. Then he stood, disappeared into the kitchen, and came back with a new mug of something steaming. You watched him like he was a miracle worker as he set it down in front of you.
“Tea,” he said. “Honey, lemon, some kind of herbal shit Alfred gave me for you when i picked up the soup.”
You blinked up at him in awe. “You made tea for me?”
“Yeah. Because unlike you, I’m not trying to have either of us die today.”
You sniffled, touched. “You love me.
Jason gave a small smirk. “Unfortunately.”
When you took the first sip, you let out a dramatic sigh, melting into the couch. “You’re saving me. I can feel my life force returning.”
“Uh-huh,” he said dryly. “You feel your nose unclogging, maybe.”
You reached out for him again, mumbling, “You’re supposed to hold me while I recover.” He rolled his eyes again, but he sat down anyway. You immediately tucked yourself into his side, curling up under his arm like a sleepy cat.
Jason rested his chin on the top of your head, rubbing his thumb over your arm through the blanket. “You’re such a pain in the ass,” he murmured.
“You love this pain in the ass,” you said, voice thick with congestion and smug satisfaction. “Yeah,” he said quietly, pressing a kiss to your hairline. "I Guess Ido.”
You yawned, eyes fluttering shut. The rain outside softened to a steady patter, and the room fell quiet except for your occasional sniffles.
A few minutes later, Jason looked down and there you were, fast asleep, mouth slightly open, a tissue still crumpled in your hand. He huffed a laugh under his breath and pulled the blanket higher around you. “Drama queen,” he whispered, shaking his head. “My drama queen.”
