whenever i used to dm campaigns in the past, my FAVORITE thing to do was creating items because there really is no limit to them. they can be serious, cute or really stupid so i always got a kick out of it

of course, im still on locations part since april has not been kind on my creative soul _:(´ཀ`」 ∠): literally have not done a rendered, serious creative thing in like… 3 weeks orz

im getting that section done though while at work breaks, but im more so excited for when i get to the ‘beastiary’ section because i have monster ideas that have been twirling around my head that i want to write so fucking bad

Actually slight continuation of the post I just did in. well. post about wor but if there is anything about reading romance/non-platonic relationships is that as Soon as the text says "these characters are attracted to each other" in any sort of way I immediately get more critical of how much I buy it

Like if it's just like Me Shipping It that's just Me. That has nothing to do with the text. That's me deciding that Oh I kinda like this I'm gonna read into this. But if the text itself says This Is How It Is, then suddenly it's not just me reading into it, the text Wants Me To Buy It, which means suddenly I'm counting my pennies Very carefully if you catch my drift

Arguably this is why I prefer shipbait/anything goes stuff like ensemble casts or even fucking Active bait (like your average gacha cast since the past 15 years) because at least then I get to Decide if I wanna buy it, but the SECOND someone goes "Hey this is what we're selling", there isn't any choice anymore, which means I can no longer go "well. that's fine. I'm reading it that way because I choose to". Suddenly it's a part of the text and the quality Actively Matters. How much I buy it is suddenly apart of what the book is Actively trying to Sell Me. Which means I immediately get more critical because now it Wants to succeed, it Wants to succeed, it's actively Trying to sell me something (which is also why shipping discourse in these sorts of ensemble cast medias is fucking pain because ehm. sorry dudes but the plausible deniability for Everyone Involved, including you personally, is kind of the point. That could be its own point of discussion tbh because holy shit does that Complicate things because at what part is it text and at what part is it just 'meh the reader can decide' because the reader decision Is very intentional, but also it isn't Exclusively JUST me deciding that it's there because someone is sure as hell making sure that you CAN read it that way, but I'd Digress-)

And that per automatic heightens the stakes because You've shown your hand that this actually matters now (and that means it's something I'm now consciously paying attention to because you Told Me to pay attention to it)

This esp goes for romance since it's one of THE biggest subjects which society (hence media) will just tell us To Buy Because Because (99% of the population see it as something which doesn't need to be sold in the first place because well ofc it's Romance it's just exactly what it is! Like the fucking fools they are smh smh smh)
