Could be a christmas decor. But no this is a Siphonophore colony called Physophora hydrostatica. 💧 They can reach a length of 8-12cm. On the top you can see a gas-emitting pore that controls the buoyancy of the colony like our BCD!

My current books wishlist

A book on the indigenous history of Vancouver Island and the Kwakwaka’wakw and K’omoks peoples, ideally with an atlas with place names in Kwak’wala and/or Comox (ʔayajuθəm)

A book on the comparative anatomy of siphonophores (if I had to pick a suborder, physonects), with detailed reference to how each zooid actually works and interacts with the other zooids

I’m not trying to be weird, I would seriously appreciate recommendations on both counts.
