A friend was designing a D&D one-shot in a microscopic setting (which is an AMAZING idea) and commissioned me to draw the final boss: a fantasy version of a *real* hydra. If you didn't know, a hydra is a freshwater polyp, barely visible to the naked eye, and biologically immortal. So here's the hydra hydra! I kept the base anatomy of the polyp version (the anchoring "foot", the radial tentacles, and the central mouth), and then added some legs and dragon heads. I was of the opinion that this hydra should move via wiggly somersault like the polyp, but that idea was vetoed lol

Polyp's artfight ref is finally updated now with tentacle back view :D 🪸🐙🐟🦑
