THE FACT THAT APPY WAS RIDING A WHITE HORSE IN THE WOODS IN SHINING ARMOR 😭😭 IDK WHAT WAS THAT CREATOR/REQUESTER PERSON SMOKING BUT IDK IF THAT ONE SHOT ACTUALLY EXISTED😭😭😭
Hey, saw a post you had some Thade/Skin-boy headcannons that you'd share if someone asked so now I am coming to you like a poor sickly victorian boy with my hands open for crumbs of bread (your ideas are all so fun btw love your modern au take).
Alrighty! These are obviously just mine so uh- feel free to not like them!
Even though he's from the Abyssal Kingdom, I see him being Italian. He has a faint accent and is very much fluent in Italian.
Given he's obsessed with colour, I like to think he paints. We know that he can sew so him painting isn't exactly impossible, he loves to do it and even uses it as his love language with Lillian
He's very tall, 6'10 to be exact. As Thade, people were surprised to see what is essentially a giant puppy when the expected him to be like- 6'2? As Skin-Taker, it's very much an advantage because he can really loom over people as he's taller than most of them.
He did know about Auburn initially but uh- sorta forgot when he lost it until he saw her and uh yeah- If he were sane, he'd be a very protective father.
I feel like, back in the Tarantula Crew days, he helped raise Percy and maybe taught him textiles. Unfortunately, he's pretty much unrecognisable.
If he was around in modern day, I feel he'd misuse memes or call people like Sans "Sans Undertale" just because he's a little shit like that.
Percy got the "stab almost blindly when scared" from him.
So uh- those are the main ones! I will do other characters and thank you so much for asking! I hope these are what you wanted!

Skin-Taker and his weird philosophy about death
CW: trauma, death/murder, some su1c1dal 1deat1on-sounding stuff (I mean, just death in general being spoken about in a positive way, but be warned)
I headcanon that Skin-Taker's belief of death and killing people not being bad came about as a coping mechanism for Red Mary killing all his close friends.
Like, he made himself believe that Red Mary's betrayal wasn't a big deal, and that everything could go back to the way it was. As the ship was burning, he was running around and collecting his crewmates' body parts, hoping to use death magic to resurrect them, or at least be able to communicate with them.
(I'm not sure if or how this worked out. Maybe Lillian was like, "Thade, we need to get off the ship now. Stop trying to remove people's skin" and he wasn't able to do death magic on them after all.... Anyway, regardless of how it worked out, he still ended up believing death was okay. Like... all that changed is that his friends are ghosts now. And that isn't so bad! (according to him))
The idea of death being no big deal comforted him, but also made him afraid of himself because, according to his logic, killing people was okay, too. This is why he left Lillian and Auburn. He was worried about how his beliefs were changing and that he may eventually snap.
He was right about this. By the time Red Mary came back and killed Lillian, his philosophy was almost what it is now, and seeing Lillian dead is what pushed him over the edge. This is why he tried to kill Auburn at first. (This was him being like, "Well, murder probably isn't so bad. I'm going to kill this random girl just to try it out and see how I feel about it.")
I think his reasoning is something like, being dead is better than being alive? Like, when you're alive, you can get sick and injured and feel pain, and you need to eat and sleep and do a bunch of other stuff, but when you're dead, you can just be a ghost and vibe. But I'm still figuring this out.
And the reason he's always targeting Percy specifically and trying to get him to kill people and stuff is because he recognizes him from the Tarantula Crew, and he sees how scared and anxious he's become since Red Mary's betrayal. And he just wants him to realize that death (the root of all Percy's fears) isn't anything to be afraid of, so that he can find the same peace that Skin-Taker found.
I do want to figure out how death and the afterlife work in Candle Cove's universe. Like, for all I know, Skin-Taker could be RIGHT. If it's not just an illogical fantasy he believes in to cope.
