What Makes Our Yoga Different?

At Yoga Nature, we’re not trying to be everywhere.  We’re not chasing numbers.  We’re not building an empire. 

We’ve chosen something slower.  Something quieter.  Something sacred. 

We’ve chosen a small and beautiful timetable and we’re so glad you’ve found your way to it. 

🌱 Spaciousness Is the Medicine 

In a world that exalts speed and productivity,  we are remembering what it means to be well. 

To rest.  To return.  To breathe. 

That’s why we close for Christmas and Easter.  Why we pause in August.  Why we teach fewer classes, with more depth. 

And that’s why our regular offerings are 90 minutes long.  Generous. Spacious. Intentional. 

Because in nature, nothing is rushed and yet everything is accomplished. 

🌀 Why 90 Minutes? 

Many yoga classes today are 45 or 60 minutes.  They’re slotted between meetings or squeezed in before dinner. 

And while there’s value in that; something different happens when we give ourselves more time. 

In 90 minutes: 

• The nervous system has time to fully downshift  • The breath deepens, naturally  • The body unfolds at its own wise pace  • The practice shifts from performance to presence 

You begin to drop beneath the surface into a more intuitive, more honest, more embodied space. 

🌸 A Full Cycle, Not Just the Highlights 

In 90 minutes, we honour the full arc of the yogic journey: 

• A grounding centring practice  • Breath awareness and seasonal movement  • Time to explore postures with care  • Restorative stillness, mudrā, meditation  • Occasional mantra or philosophy for integration 

Not rushed. Not chopped up.  Just one whole, living rhythm. 

The way nature moves.  The way practice should feel. 

🌾 Not a Workout, A Way of Being 

We don’t see yoga as a workout.  We see it as a way of remembering. 

A way of living in rhythm with the land, the breath, the deeper self. 

In a culture that teaches us to override our bodies,  slowing down; really slowing down; is a radical act. 

When you gift yourself 90 minutes, you're saying: 

“I matter.  My wellbeing matters.  Time matters.” 

That’s not laziness.  That’s devotion. 

🌿 A Timetable with Room to Breathe 

We don’t run ourselves ragged.  And we won’t ask you to, either. 

Our small timetable means we know your name.  We remember your story. 

We honour your rhythm,  your seasons,  your becoming. 

Because when the timetable is small, it can also be deep.  When the class is long, it can also be true.  When the schedule is light, the presence is full.

#slowpractice under #performance conditions For #fastplaying passages I practice #undertempo with #tinybow strokes which have #stickysounds This prepares #qualitysound as the passage gets #fasterandfaster Here’s an example of a #practiceroutine I use and teach my #violinstudents learning J.B Accolay’s #violinconcerto in #aminor 5 videos: 1) Practice half measures with pauses. Include all #dynamics (don’t wait until the passage is learned to do the #crescendo and #decrescendo ~swipe left~ 2) Slightly faster. One measure at a time. ~swipe left~ 3) Slightly faster. No pauses. Don’t forget dynamics! ~swipe left~ 4) Slightly faster, still under tempo. Notice how the small sticky bows are starting to sound “normal” ~swipe left~ 5) Performance version. Notes are clear and brilliant as a result of training the small bow strokes. I feel in control of the bow. Dynamics sound natural and clear as a result of including them all along. Swipe back to video 1 and notice how I am using the same amount of bow at every speed!
