Kaebedo Week 2023 Day 6 - Hurt/Comfort ~ Gift Giving

Kaeya and Albedo haven’t talked about what happened on Dragonspine and Kaeya hasn’t thought it to be a problem before. It’s not as if he hasn’t heard all about the imposter from the Traveller. And Eula. And Amber. And Bennett.

He is certain that he heard enough and Albedo had seemed positively crushed the days after the incident, so Kaeya didn’t have the heart to talk to him about it.

Which in hindsight, seems to be the biggest mistake he made yet.

Because the imposter is here, right in the middle of Mondstadt and he’s wearing Albedo’s face.

Kaeya feels anger churn in his gut but he forces himself to stand still for a moment, to think this through. He hasn’t gotten his position by blindly following his emotions and so he takes a deep breath before he makes his way over to what appears to be Albedo.

He’ll have to come up with a name for it, Kaeya realises with a start, otherwise things will get all tangled up in his mind and he resolves to calling him Elbedo. It almost makes him laugh, if Elbedo weren’t staring him right in the face now.

It’s good, his design; he even got the star on his throat right this time. The traveller informed Kaeya that he had forgotten that before but clearly he learned from his mistakes.

The Traveller had mentioned other things, regarding Elbedo; called him Subject 2 and a brother in relation to Albedo and that is the only reason Kaeya doesn’t impale him right where he stands.

Kaeya sees the look on Albedo’s face when he visits Durin’s heart; Albedo has told him how much it pains him to be the only one left. So no, Kaeya can’t kill Elbedo where he stands.

That doesn’t mean he’ll have to be entirely nice though.

“Kaeya,” Elbedo greets him and even his voice sounds exactly the same.

Pity for him that Kaeya can tell. He’s not even sure if there’s something to give him away, it’s just—he feels off. He doesn’t feel like Albedo to Kaeya and that is enough for him.

“Albedo, dear, care to join me on my patrol?”

Elbedo’s face twitches just like Albedo’s would at that endearment and Kaeya has to admit that he’s impressed. He really did his homework, it seems.

“Certainly,” Elbedo answers and falls into step next to Kaeya. “It is a lovely night after all.”

“Right,” Kaeya agrees and then makes honest to the gods small-talk with a thing that is wearing Albedo’s face and possibly here for nefarious purposes.

He feels a little bit sick to his stomach if he gives that too much thought, so Kaeya pushes it far out of his mind.

Kaeya leads them along his normal route, only waiting for them to be out of sight of the general population and soon enough they reach the back alley that goes right along the city wall. There are no prying eyes here and Kaeya doesn’t hesitate.

He pushes Elbedo against a wall, a dagger of ice pressed to his neck. He briefly laments the fact that he didn’t talk to Albedo about his brother, because the Traveller mentioned cryo powers and that could potentially come back to bite him in the ass but he’ll spear him with his normal sword just as well if he has to.

“Kaeya, what are you doing?” Elbedo asks and his voice is a perfect imitation of a surprised Albedo.

“Drop the act, I know you’re not him,” Kaeya says, keeping his voice level and calm. “Who are you?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Elbedo tries again and Kaeya presses the dagger more firmly against his throat.

It seems to do the trick.

“She didn’t bother to give me a name. She called me Subject 2,” he spits out and Kaeya releases the pressure of the dagger.

“How tragic for you,” he sneers and then tightens the grip he has on his shoulder. “Here’s some friendly advice. If you’re here because you want to see what it’s like to be a human in the city, then I suggest you pick another face. Preferably one you could call your own.”

“And if I’m not?” Elbedo asks and it seems as if all the humanity is stripped from him. It feels as if Kaeya is staring into an endless abyss of ice and he doesn’t care for it one bit. “Here for that, I mean?”

“If you’re here to take his place or to hurt him in any way, then I will kill you,” Kaeya easily gives back making it a promise more than a threat.

Elbedo blinks at him.

“How did you know I’m not him? My disguise is perfect.”

“Because of that,” Kaeya says and enjoys the confusion on his face. “It’s a disguise. You could never embody the real Albedo.”

“I fooled the knights at the entrance easily enough.”

Kaeya doesn’t even bother to argue with him about that. He’s sure Elbedo had no problems walking right past them but Kaeya is not Swan.

“Clearly. But your luck ran out when you bumped into me. And there is no way you will ever fool me.”

Kaeya can see the twinkling of a challenge in his eyes and he takes his dagger away.

“Try it again and I won’t hesitate. This is the only warning you get. You do not get to hurt him in any way.”

He doesn’t raise his voice but he can tell that the threat landed when Elbedo swallows. He seems so very human in that moment and Kaeya wonders if he even knows it himself.

“You’ll let me go?” There’s confusion in his voice and Kaeya shrugs.

“If you’re simply trying to fit in, if you’re trying to find a place for yourself, I say go for it. Everyone deserves at least a chance at that.”

“But not with this face.”

“Not with this face,” Kaeya agrees. “Now get lost before I change my mind.”

Elbedo gives him one last look before he scrambles away and for the first time some of his own personality shines through because Albedo never runs like that.

Maybe there is yet hope for Elbedo to find out who he really is, Kaeya thinks as he shakes his head and then he decides that he has had enough patrolling for one day. He gets his relief early and then he makes his way home, suddenly longing for a cuddle session with Albedo on their couch.

He is in rather high spirits when he enters their home but all of that crashes when he comes face to face with an Albedo who is in the process of packing his things.

Kaeya freezes in the doorway and Albedo goes completely still as well.

“What are you doing?” Kaeya asks and Albedo’s shoulders drop.

“You’re not supposed to be home, yet.”

“That’s not an answer to my question,” Kaeya says and he forces himself to close the door silently behind him.

He doesn’t yet know what’s going on and it’s not going to help if he panics.

“I’m asking again, Albedo: what are you doing?”

“Giving you the greatest gift I could ever give you,” Albedo mumbles and throws his coat into a bag.

“And what is that?” Kaeya demands to know but he knows. Deep down he knows what Albedo is going to say.

That doesn’t mean he’ll have to accept it, though.

“Breaking up with you. I’ll be gone in a second.”

“Like hell you will,” Kaeya spits out and walks into the living-room. “What brought this on?”

Albedo doesn’t look as if he wants to answer him but Kaeya is not going to accept any of this. And especially not without a proper explanation, so he plants himself into the doorway, making sure that Albedo has nowhere to run to.

“Kaeya,” Albedo starts and just that is enough to tell Kaeya everything.

He does know him too well by now, after all.

“It’s because of your brother,” he says with a sigh and watches how Albedo flinches.

“Don’t call him that!” he hisses out but Kaeya doesn’t apologize.

“Why not? It’s true, isn’t it?”

“And what if it is? What does it matter? I can’t stay here.”

“Ah, I see.” He walks into the living-room and sits down on the couch, trying for relaxed and apparently succeeding if Albedo’s confusion is anything to go by. “You’re not only leaving me, but you’re leaving Mondstadt. You’re running.”

“And what if I am! He’s still out there and he wants my life. He’s going to come for all of you and he will hurt you!”

“He already came for me,” Kaeya informs him with a small shrug and while he doesn’t enjoy the panic that flits over Albedo’s face it at least keeps him tethered to the spot.

“What do you mean he came for you? Are you hurt?” There’s panic in his voice too and Kaeya almost feels bad but then again, it’s only fair.

His heart is still beating in fear at the thought of Albedo leaving.

“Please, I am more capable than that. Besides, he didn’t try to hurt me.”

“Kaeya Alberich, you will tell me right this instant what happened!” Albedo demands and Kaeya gives him a small smile.

“Nothing happened. He had the audacity to show up, wearing your face, and I told him what would happen should he try that again.”

“You let him go?”

Albedo seems to have half a mind running out the door after his elusive brother and Kaeya can’t let him leave. Not when he doesn’t know if he’ll return to him.

“Albedo,” he rushes out and leans forward, catching Albedo’s hand in his. “Don’t. He’s just—he doesn’t know where he belongs.”

“What?”

“He was wearing your face, yes, but he wasn’t even doing anything. He was walking down the streets, simply taking everything in. When I found him he was staring at Flora’s flowers.”

“You talked to him?” Albedo doesn’t seem quite as willing to run anymore but Kaeya is still loathe to let go of his hand, so instead he threads their fingers together.

“Yes. I had to talk some sense into him, mh?”

“What did you do?” Albedo breathes out, and he sounds so fondly annoyed that Kaeya dares to press a kiss to his knuckles.

“I gave him a choice. Either I kill him next time he shows up with your face, or he picks a face he can call his own and gets to have a place in this city.”

“Kaeya! He’s dangerous! You don’t know what he could do.”

“As dangerous as you or I? Or as Rosaria? Or Venti? Albedo, my love, the people in this city are hardly harmless. Yet we all choose to not hurt this city. If he chooses the same—who are we to judge.”

“Were you soft on him because he was wearing my face?” Albedo asks and it startles a laugh out of Kaeya.

“There’s no need to worry, sunshine. I knew immediately he wasn’t you.”

“How? He fooled everyone else on Dragonspine.”

“But I’m not everyone else. I know you. There is no disguise he could wear that would ever make me mistake him for you.” Kaeya leans back on the couch, pulling on Albedo’s hand until he stumbles right onto his lap. “Now are you quite done with being stupid or is there something else?”

“You act as if it could be that easy,” Albedo mumbles but he doesn’t move to get out of Kaeya’s lap, so he counts it as a win. “What if there are other’s out there?”

“Then we’ll deal with them, too. Hell, if it makes you feel better, I promise right now to even tell Rhinedottir to suck it should she ever come back and threaten you. No one gets to do that.”

Albedo lets out a scandalized gasp.

“Kaeya!”

“What? She’s just a woman, my love. Just like you are just a man. Now, are we going to have a fight that will end with you not leaving me anyway or can we skip that and cuddle?”

“You’re insufferable,” Albedo mutters, but he slings his arms around Kaeya’s neck. “I didn’t want to leave you. I just thought—”

“You would protect me,” Kaeya finishes for him and presses a kiss to his hair. “But there’s no need for that. We protect each other best when we stay together, alright?”

“Alright,” Albedo whispers. “I love you.”

“I love you,” Kaeya gives back without hesitation and then—finally—he gets to do what he wanted to do all along.

Cuddle the love of his life on their couch in their home.

Hanging on His Every Word - Kaeya x Reader

(A/N): Ah, Kaeya. The Calvary Captain, whatta guy.

This prompt ending up falling on the perfect character in my list, I'd argue. It fell on his name and I was like "Great. Beautiful. Love love him to be whispering just ... everything in my ear." God, talk about a tease, right? I hope you enjoy the emphasis on tease I put on him in this oneshot. I think my brain tried making it a little angstier at one point because 🤪 plot??? But, not enough to make it surrounded with angst. Genshin characters are really hard to write, I've come to realize. I wish I knew them all a little better, but reading every five-part backstory is a lil intimidating t.b.hONEST- so I hope this suffices ^^" I also have been reading other one shots on Tumblr and realize people put warnings even if it's a soft one shot, so I'm gonna start doing that 🤩 just cuz' I feel a little foolish if that's what people are worried about here. Prompt #9: Whispering Sweet Nothings

Living in a teapot didn’t seem so comforting in the beginning, the idea of a cramped space like that being utilized as a home seemed… for lack of a better word, unfit. Yet, after some help from Chubby and encouragement from your team, you actually were able to spiffy the place up appropriately for your needs.

The outside closely resembled the Liyue nation you had recently traveled through—the sun always golden in a constant lowering within the sky. It lit your surrounding, glass china which encased world in brightened gold, a direct replicant of the sunsets you had since observed against the Liyue skyline. The ones you’d found yourself basking in with your teammates, and now one you could show the other team members who all now resided here. Or, at least had another home to confide in outside of their dwellings across Teyvat.

You weren’t one to usually spend much more than a few minutes, or so, within your teapot’s domain. Not that you didn’t like the space, there was just too much to also be done in the real world towards completing your adventures that finding time for the teapot was difficult. Chubby assured you not to ever worry about the wellbeing of the realm, and he would be happy in keeping its upkeep in your absence. Nevertheless, your lack of nurturing the teapot would always spawn some anxiety.

Tonight was actually a night you were able to seek out the time and rest in your home. Recently, you had called upon Lisa to help you appropriately furnish the home you were gifted to make the place actually live-able. She had picked out a couch and surrounding table and chairs for your entry room, making the hall to left hold a kitchen, a closet, and a study. The librarian still was determined to help with the opposing hallway, but for now you were appreciative of the space for a study she had currently built.

More than appreciative, especially with the fact she so took to heart making the place feel like a real home for the companions like her who liked comfortable downtime, you were eternally grateful for the authority she took in her interior design. She definitely felt prideful in her work, and you felt she was rightly entitled to. It was cozy, welcoming, and let you take on less of a job for once.

Currently, basking in that forever setting sun from outside your window, you were curled over the dark oak of your desk—a worn notebook laid out before you with scribbled writings marking the lines in frantic thoughts and recollection of your day. The interactions you had, the importance of items you had picked up along the way, mapping out waypoints and why they held certain importance. Anything that came to mind, it was marked down, and now you were simply paused to try and wrack your brain for anything more. 

So engrossed in your trying to remember what had happened through your earlier afternoon, you weren’t tuned into your surroundings like usual. Not that you would necessarily need to be worried of what’s around you, it was here where you were supposed to trust in the security of your surroundings. That was the whole point, right?

To true enemies, yes; that would always remain fact in this plane. What the rule didn’t apply to was your acquired comrades from over the journey—those who loved to antagonize only being an objection to your found peace in this evening. And, it was him who now descended on your space, careful to not make much noise as he entered your study and proceeding his silent approach behind you.

You remained unsuspecting, much to his amusement, and quickly from there he finally made himself known in the quiet room. He wasn’t quick to speak, but swiftly his hands grabbed gently at your shoulders which he further used to pull himself up and slightly over your back. You gasped at the sudden ‘attack’ instilled against you, your face flying to look up and confront the oncoming person—gaze dulling at who you found.

“I should’ve known better.” you scoffed irritably, throwing the hands off your shoulders with a quick yank of your upper half, “You must think you’re so funny, don’t you?”

“Haha, a little~” The man behind you finally spoke up, his purr of a laugh eliciting the butterflies in your stomach to flutter up a storm, “What? You’re trying to tell me this wasn’t a good surprise?”

“Not at all, Alberich.” You snappily quipped in his direction, waving your hand dismissively over your shoulder. “Would you buzz off? I’m a little busy right now…”

“Really.” He didn’t obey, flopping over towards the space of desk next to your arms; still determined to see what you’re working on. “Writing in your little diary about me?”

Your head fell towards the page, baffled at the Calvary knight’s persistence to keep you irritated. 

“Kaeya…” 

“I tease, doll…” Kaeya hummed from beside you, his one eye flicking over to the paper again and pushing his head closer, “I am curious, though.”

“Well, you’re going to be disappointed when I still tell you…” your fingers slipped under the notebook’s cover, flipping it up and letting the pages slap shut against one another, “no.”

“Oh, please,” Suddenly the book was snatched away entirely, Kaeya holding it to dangle between two fingers tauntingly over your head. “like your no is gonna stop me.”

“Kaeya.” You growled, your arm flashing out to try and grab the book away from him, “Give it back.”

“Mmm-noo,” He took a lumbering step away from the desk then, grabbing the book by one of its covers and letting it hang by its spine. “I’ll take my time with this novel, I think.”

“Kaeya!” You leapt from your chair, almost being caught in the falling backwards of the piece of furniture. “It’s not funny! Give it back!”

The man paused to throw a glance your way, the gleam in his gaze and twist of his mouth clearly showing you how much he was enjoying this game of cat and mouse he so quickly enforced. What joy he found in that irritated scowl you held so prominently for him. But, he also knew you through other expressions—and could clearly see what differed even now in the face of your irritation.

From darker circles around your eyes, a new scar or two from your travels and the violence you often challenged, the lack of vitality in your being with maybe how tired your body grew over time. He registered this in his heart, and suddenly the grin fell from his lips and settled in a hesitant frown.

“…Fine,” He sighed, bringing the book back forward—you taking a beat and snatching it out of his fingers before he could think twice on his decision.

Kaeya scoffed a soft laugh at your desperation, not being able to help himself, you then clutching the diary against your chest. With his hand still lifted, he flicked his fingers into a snippy wave as though to brush you off in the other direction. You frowned with his dismissal of this entire interaction, suddenly; you stepping out in his path to make him pause.

“What?” You ask, your voice having an edge that showed you weren’t going to let him lie his way out of this one.

“Nothing, it’s nothing…” He sighed, almost dejected as he further turned away, “just… you look tired.”

You were speechless in the wake of his commentary, confusion quickly flooding itself through the rest of your emotions as he continued in his now exiting of the room.

“Woah, woah, woah, hold up.” You suddenly are tripping over yourself to reach out and grab him, “I asked you to give me my book back, not that you had to leave.”

“Ah,” he finally paused and returned his attention to you at the sense of your touch, “I guess that would be true, wouldn’t it?”

“So…?” You nodded up with your chin, urging him to speak, “What was that, just then?”

Kaeya’s light tease subdued at the question, the knight’s gaze falling as though he were suddenly beside himself. “I just thought I don’t need to be taking away from your time alone. That’s all.”

Your frown only deepened at that, a light squeeze from you against his wrist brought his head back up—his one eye revealing more to you than maybe necessary. On the rare occasion, and really only with you, the man before you arguably appeared to feel guilty. 

“I mean… sure, I’ve had a long journey thus far and enjoy the quiet moments when they come. But…” You shrug your shoulders indifferently, “It’s no problem if you’re quiet and respectful.”

It was meant to be a little bit more of a jest than you trying to comfort him, but he seemed to appreciate the effort you gave in making him feel welcomed even after he had been so adamant on messing around with you. You were too kind to him when it came to things like that, in his eyes. Also understanding, that was half the fun of having first been sneaking around with one another—it all starting on a stealth mission in Mondstat when he couldn’t help but tease at you beneath him, simultaneously pinning you both to a wall in an attempt to stay out of sight from your target. That moment changing the course of your relationship entirely, as it probably would anyone’s. 

“Haha, I barely know the definitions of those words…” He chuckled, turning back towards you and stepping in the direction of your smaller frame. “Teach them to me?”

“Woah, buddy…” You chuckled, your breath a little short with how intimate the space had suddenly become, “I’m a partner, not your dictionary.”

“Mmm, two birds with one stone?” His voice was next to your head, breath washing over the side of your ear, “Why not be both?~”

“Kaeya…” You managed to say through a building pressure you then realized was starting to build in your chest, as if the air was thin with how you felt so closed in against him.

“The definition, doll…” He purred the instruction into your ear, knowing exactly how his voice was affecting you.

“Quiet,” you shuddered, his hand in your wrist now twisting to grab at yours while you spoke, “the-the opposite of what you’re doing now.”

A quiet chuckle and squeeze at your wrist was the response you received, and it only was urging you to continue. You bit on the tip of your tongue to keep from being snarky again, a rebelling glare hardening itself against your features. 

“Respectful… showing respect for a person.”

“That’s cheating,” his voice resounded in a deeper register, more a growl this time around, “try again.”

“Kaeya…” you whined, your hand leaving his grip and placing itself against his chest in trying to push him off. It was evidently no use, his stature stagnant before you. 

He dipped his head evidently closer towards your ear, a hushed uttering against your ear, “Enlighten me, little one.”

Your head flew up at his calling, a wide eyed stare being your only reaction for the time being. Blinking furiously, you had to will yourself into giving him some better answer, the other half of your mind pleading to let him continue. Wanting desperately to hear what more he could say, that half hanging on his every word. You shoved him into a stagger with how your strength struck at him this time around, needing both him and your own opposing thoughts to be silenced in that way.

“You need to stop that.” You announced while he laughed obnoxiously over your head, his own falling back in a resounding cackle much to your dismay. “It’s not that funny!”

“Ah, yes it is. When this is your reaction?” He craned back forward, you not being able to stop him in time before his nose gently touched against the tip of yours, a light brushing of faces between the two of you. “Besides, I can’t call on you in an endearing title?~” 

“I—Well, can it be a nicer one?” You hummed in return, you cautiously watching him above you and how his features rested. The point of contact appearing to make him ease. You frowned at the expression on his face, not loving how it alleviated your tension and heightened your yearning of the knight. It caused the tone of your voice to ease and your expression fall into one of subdued defeat.

As usual, he read you better than anyone you’d already grown accustomed to and saw right through your request. His gloved hand raised to your cheek, and his own appearance changed into something more endearing. Like he were nurturing the world at his fingertips, and in his case he knew he was. You had become everything for him in the span of a few months you now had spent together, all while becoming that more familiarized with the other. Most definitely in ways you never imagined would be possible with someone like him—and in that thought, he too was shocked to have wooed someone like you into loving even those darker aspects about him.

Circling back on your question, the man shook his head. “No… I don’t think it’s inherently rude in any way. You’re just being picky.”

“Wow.” You huffed, not being able to stop the smile that then grinned across your face, “What am I going to do with you.”

“Hmm,” Kaeya seemed to ponder the question for a moment, but ultimately his eyes fell back to the desk and he was nodding towards your abandoned journal that not lay flat on the corner of the small table, “I guess I’d still appreciate being enlightened on what you’ve written in there?”

You turned over your shoulder in following his direction, straining a frown at the idea of rereading your thoughts out loud. “It’s really nothing interesting… just travel detailings, puzzle solutions I want to try… the normal scheming for an adventurer.”

“Exactly why I wish to know about your journey’s recollections.” He sounded a matter-of-factly above you, “I’m sure I can help problem solve a few things for when you go back.” 

The hands that once shoved against his chest were now resting on the biceps of his arm, and you squeezed at the arms against your palms in knowing he would ultimately get what he want. You had a hard enough time telling him a straight no when he was teasing, the genuine curiosity he now displayed making an objection to his want arguably impossible. 

“…Fine, okay. You win.” You relented suddenly, slouching forward and pushing your head into his chest. He made a soft hissing yes in success of his wants being met, you tensely turning up and huffing at the eye-patched fighter while he reached over to retrieve the book. 

“Thank you, my love.” He chuckled, hoping the display of appreciation was clear enough in more than just his words, him further reaching your work of writing up in your direction. “Please. I’m dying to hear about your travels in my absence.”

Quietly, you gave the book a once over before taking it tentatively in your grasp; quietly than cracking the cover open in reading what was first in the writing. That quiet plead of his made your heart burn all the more, and you grinned in looking back to him.

“Where do I begin?” You chuckled, the man taking your hips and pacing back towards the chair at your desk. He hoisted himself down but only while positioning you in-between his legs, pushing you then to rest easy before him.

“Wherever you deem fit, little one.” He hummed, his thumb stroking at your clothed side making the goosebumps race along your arm.

“Ah, well…” You turned a page or two where your writings first started, pointing at the first word for you to recall a little of what you had already written, “I think that first day in exploring Mondstat works then, yes?”

Kaeya’s warmed face somehow grew to seem more sincere, and he quietly nodded, “That sounds absolutely perfect to me.”

Freeze daddy headcannons, when he finds his lover get angry

Oh boy, where do I start!! This grown man gets so excited when you get angry!!

Whether you're angry at him or at someone else, he'd think it's so hot.

You'd usually get mad at him because he drinks so much. When he'd be giggling a lot, grinning like a smitten cat.

Oh my god and he would still try to flirt! His words would all be slurred though lol.

But perhaps, on this particular day you didn't find it funny and it infuriated you.

You'd grab his collar and pull him close to you roughly.

"kaeya Alberich, I swear to fucking hell if you get drunk again and even when I told you you had an important commission to do today! Why can't you fucking behave like a proper adult?!!"

You'd see shock clearly written on his reddened face. Maybe it got a bit more redder cause of your sudden outburst.

He'd become so shy quickly! Adverting his eyes and hiding his face in your Neck or shoulder.

"M'sorry" you could feel him lean into you, maybe kiss your cheek.

He'd pull away, heavy lidded, "I won't do it again... Forgive me?"

Now how could you resist this sexy ass man looking at you puppy eyed.

Hooking your finger on his neck piece on his collar, you pulled him close, roughly kissing him.

And you bet your pretty self, he'd MOAN. His breath would be so raggedy, whimpering, moaning mess.

It turned him on so much to see you so riled up.

It was quiet in the Alberich household - not uncommon but certainly strange as the man himself was in fact situated on the settee in his living room, and not in the bar he oh-so-dearly loved. Yet tonight was different.

Tonight, his lover sat beside him with their arms wrapped loosely around his stomach.

How long had it been since they were last like this? Too long. His title of Cavalry Captain and theirs as a mole stationed in Snezhnaya meant that time spent together as such was a luxury they couldn’t afford to waste.

Kaeya’s fingertips grazed the side of their head softly, his lips relaxed into a line and eyes wandered down from their head to their shoulders. Their hair was as soft as he remembered.

Was that a scar on their cheek?

“You’re staring.”

A voice piped up from below him and he quickly snapped out of his momentary daze. The corners of his lips curved swiftly.

“Is that so? Then how is it that you noticed?” he countered, to which he was met with silence.

“I just knew.”

Kaeya chuckled heartily, wrapping his arm even tighter around their shoulders. It was strange - how light his chest felt around them.

They didn’t mind how much he teased, nor how genuine he could be with his feelings for them. Albeit clearly embarrassed, they took it headstrong.

He felt the heave of their chest as they sighed and sunk deeper into his embrace.

“I’ll be setting off at 8PM sharp tomorrow.”

And suddenly his heart sank.

There was a pause in the air as Kaeya tried to regain his confidence to speak. He shouldn’t be all that surprised at this point, however he couldn’t stop the tension rising in his body at the thought of not being able to see them for so long.

He cleared his throat.

“So soon? I was hoping to spend some time with you before you left.” Kaeya offered with a fake cheeriness in his tone. Forever an actor - he would much rather hide his hurt from the one he cared for than to have them see how deprived he was of their love and attention.

To say Kaeya was popular with the ladies would be an understatement. Women adored him and grandparents wished to have him as their grandson. Countless times he had led someone on only to inform them that he wasn’t interested. A heartbreaker, true. A fool, even.

Yet the one person in the world he craved most was always just out of reach.

He was far from being a good man deserving of a love - but just this once, couldn’t they just stay?

“I can’t. They want me in Liyue to help deal with some brokers who crossed boundaries within their contracts. If I don’t go, it won’t look good.”

A silence overtook them. Neither knew what to say.

Shuffling began to stir from next to Kaeya before they began to depart from him entirely.

“It was a mistake to come here, I’m sorry-”

Quickly cupping the side of their face, Kaeya turned them so that their eyes connected. His icy blue eyes which once were full of mirth were now filled with panic and uncertainty.

“Don’t leave.”

Another silence.

“Just . . . for tonight, let’s not think about it. It doesn’t matter. Just continue to let me hold you, okay?”

For a few moments, no one moved - too afraid to break the stillness between them. His partner nodded their head slowly and Kaeya found himself swallowing his nerves.

Running his thumb over their cheek, his eyes carefully glanced down towards their lips. When was the last time he had indulged himself in those sweet lips? Two, no, three months ago? Some time around Christmas if he remembered correctly.

Leaning forward, he sighed in relief as his own pair came into contact with theirs. It was almost ludicrous how euphoric it felt to be this near to his lover again.

One kiss turned into another, and Kaeya somehow found himself maneuvering to tower over them.

He placed a kiss against their temple, then their nose, then each of their cheeks before moving to hover over their lips once more.

“. . . I’ve missed you.”

a/n: sorry this is short i very exhausted tonight 😭 (edit: i posted this before midnight on accident LMFAOO oh well)

the knights of favonius was holding a small christmas party tonight (it was just between the knights & their +1)

of course kaeya had to bring you. you were his s/o— how could he not? he lowkey loved flaunting around that you were his (not in a creepy way just more of a protective way ig)

it was honestly a lot smaller than you had expected. you knew most of the people there (lisa, jean, amber, eula, sucrose, albedo, klee, huffman, and kaeya ofc) and it was nice catching up with them

there was a whole assortment of snacks and drinks— crackers, mini sandwiches, christmas cookies, candy canes, a yule log, trifles, wine, eggnog, hot chocolate, water, and a bit more.

kaeya decided on eggnog to drink— which was fine except that it had some heavy rum in it (he was aware of it. did he care? no)

you just picked water to drink because you really weren’t in a drinking mood— plus you knew you’d have to be sober to get kaeya home tonight

the party went pretty well. you two stayed for about 3-4 hours, talking with everyone you knew and just catching up with them

kaeya had his hands on you for pretty much the whole time you were there. didn’t matter if it was just a simple hand on your thigh, resting his hand on top of yours on the table, his arm wrapped around your waist, he always found a way to touch you. you weren’t exactly sure why he did it but you didn’t mind, you loved his touch

near the end of the night he got a lot more touchy though. nuzzling his head into your neck, giving small kisses to your neck, even pulling you onto his lap a few times. this told you he was pretty drunk because he usually isn’t that cuddly at events like these. you two decided to leave at that time (it was getting a little late too)

once you got home you two immediately went to the bedroom. both of you were exhausted and just needed some sleep (after your makeout session tho— kaeya 100% enjoys drunken makeout sessions with you)

the next morning was… a little rough

when you woke up (way earlier than usual) kaeya was sick off his ass from a hangover. the first hour or so of your day was just you holding his hair and rubbing his back while he threw up (you didn’t mind though, he’s done it for you countless of times)

after all of that was over you brought him back to bed and got some water and medicine. he insisted he was fine but you knew damn well he wasn’t. you knew he was obviously dehydrated and probably had an awful headache

“love, i promise you i’m okay. i don’t need anything—“ you and kaeya had been going back and forth about this for about 5 minutes. he always claimed to be okay when he clearly was not.

“no, you’re not. alcohol causes dehydration and you throwing up only worsened it. please just drink the water and take the advil,” you held the water and pills out a bit further towards him.

with an exasperated sigh, he took everything out of your hands. he knew you wouldn’t back down from this and it’d just go on forever. he sat down on the bed and popped the pills in his mouth, chasing them with the water.

“ah, what would i do without you?”

“probably fucking die,” you joked, crawling onto the bed and resting your back against the pillows. you separated your legs a bit, motioning for kaeya to come lay there. he shifted around some and laid back, resting his head on your chest.

this was something the two of you did a lot when the other wasn’t feeling well— whether it be from a hangover or an actual illness. one would always place themselves between the other’s legs and lean back until their head was rested on the other’s chest. then you’d just play with each other’s hair until you two fell asleep.

kaeya hummed when he felt your hands raking through his hair, massaging his scalp gently.

“thank you for taking care of me hun,” you could hear the tiredness coming back into kaeya’s voice. he always got a certain tone in his voice when he was sleepy— that flirty tone would drop and his voice would sound a bit raspier.

“of course,” you hummed, placing a small kiss to the top of his head. “now get some more rest bub, you’re tired and need it.”

within a few minutes you could tell kaeya had drifted off to sleep. it didn’t take long for you to fall back asleep either.
