Wanted to message without anon but sideblogs aren’t allowed 💔 Anyway, wanted to ask what your thoughts are on the theory that Emma convinced Ilana (the SA victim) to complete the Kit exam because she’s had a similar experience herself and whether it could tie in with the babyshark au you’ve imagined with us?
Love your work, and thank you for the service you’ve given for the fandom! ❤️
ahhhhh. okay so this is just personal opinion (and i'm not attacking you in anyway, just sharing my thoughts on this hc!) but i'm not a fan of this particular headcanon—mainly because it feels like it's detracting from her core character, and making it seem like the only way she knew what to say was because this happened to her (and there's this insinuation that her being sexually assaulted made her a better person/more empathetic), and i much prefer the idea that Emma just knows what to tell people because she understands and empathizes with them over having shared experiences. it's also taking away from every interaction she has because if this is true, then we also should extrapolate that she's married since she told Digby something only a married daughter would know.
(and like. i have a lot more reasons for why i'm kinda exhausted by the "black girl cares a little too much about people?? well it can't be because that's just who she is as a person, it must be because she's a victim of assault" narrative. believe me, i'm fully aware that woc (particularly black and indigenous women, girls, and boys) are more than 3x as likely to a victim of assault than anyone else, but i don't vibe with the way it's being spun as a headcanon rn. let her be sweet and kind and gentle without having her be sexually exploited to push that.)
