The shirt Ilya was wearing THAT night at the club now hangs in the closet of their Ottawa home. Shane doesn't recognise it at first, and he's even intrigued by it. So one day he pulls it out and goes to ask Ilya "Where did you buy this, I never see you with it". And Ilya is confused, as the very thought of that thing feels like a hundred stabs to the heart. But Shane's questions sound genuine so he just stutters an unconvincing "I-I don't remember".
"Let me see how how it looks on you" Shane asks, handing over the shirt. "Are you- are you sure?" Ilya replies. "Um, yes?" now Shane is confused too "Why wouldn't I be?". Ilya looks at this husband with a defeated look as if to say you asked for this. He stands up and puts it on.
Shane is shell-shocked. His heart starts racing and he freezes with his mouth agape. The sight of him in that shirt instantly brings up all the memories of that traumatic night. When Ilya pulls him back into reality, Shane only manages to say "I didn't- Sorry, I didn't mean to-". Ilya shushes him by pulling him into a hug (not before taking the shirt off).
"You could've just said it" Shane whispers into Ilya's neck. "I didn't know how to" Ilya mumbles back.
