Happy Sixth Birthday, Soybeef Tacos
As of today, I’ve been posting about Netrunner on this blog for six years. Six years! I haven’t ever run a blog that ran that long.
And it shows; looking it over, I’ve tried a lot of things here. There was the year where I posted every day. There was also a year where I didn’t post at all. I’ve embraced silly jank and mocked competitive players. I spent a year trying to play the competitive game, with only meager success. I excitedly joined NISEI, then I frustratingly got kicked out of NISEI. I made and gave away a great many acrylic IDs and tokens. I published academic articles about Netrunner like this one and this one about Netrunner. I made multiple silly playmat designs like this one and this one. I often talked about packing up my game, giving it up for good, and shoving it in the closet. I’ve certainly had my ups and downs with this game, many documented here for y’all to see.
But through it all, I’m still here. I can’t stop playing or writing about it for long. I’m trying again to get back into the world of Netrunner in the 2k21, and I’m using this space to keep talking about what I still love about this game and its community. So, here’s a genuine and hearty thank you to everyone who reads these posts, as you are some subset of that community. I appreciate any and all comments, likes, reblogs, retweets, etc.
So, thanks to you for reading, and thank you especially for putting up with my many ups and downs with this great game.
