A Spell For When Things Seem Bleak
Spell: Motivation, Perseverance, Candle, Moon
I use this spell when it feels like the future is lost to me; when I feel the hopelessness bearing down on me and I just need to remind myself that I have the power and the means to get myself through rough waters. This spell can be done during any moon phase, it simply draws on the energy of the moon cycle.
Paper, small and combustible
Draw out the moon cycle any way you'd like. You must have the quarter waning/waxing moons, the full moon, and the new moon represented but you can also draw any phase in between those as well.
Above, below, or inside your drawing, draw a sigil that you create or find online which represents motivation/empowerment/perseverance. As you draw, you'll want to think about how you want to find motivation or what you want motivation for. This should be the only thing you are thinking about, other than the drawing itself. The act of drawing is meant to help get you into a meditative state so that you are calm and focused as you preform the actual spell.
Light the white candle and focus on what you can feel about the power of the moon cycle and, specifically, the full moon. Hold the drawing in your hands and infuse it with your energy and the energy of the moon cycle. You can do this by concentrating on what you associate the ideas of the moon and yourself with. When you feel ready, move onto step 4.
Light the drawing on fire and, when you are sure it has caught, drop it into the fire-safe bowl. Practice fire safety! Remember to have some way to extinguish fire near you if you are doing this spell inside your home, and keep flammable objects away from the flame.
As you watch your drawing burn, recite the following incantation:
"As the moon waxes and wanes,
As the tides rise and fall,
So do my resolve and motivation.
I ask the energy of the full moon
To aide me in the waning times ahead,
To keep me motivated,
To help me persevere.
Surround me with all the strength
Of your pale light
And empower me to find success in my endeavors
So that I may return to you
A light that rivals the sun."
Once the ashes have cooled, take them outside and allow the wind to carry them towards the sky.
