i saw a comic the other day that was describing a very real abuse tactic very accurately, but it bothered me how the abuser was drawn. their back was crooked and their face was sort of twisted, and their eyes were squinted.
i know it probably wasn’t the attention, the author said they tried to draw the abusers as a “silly monster”, as they had a simplistic and child-like art style, but to me it sounded like having those features made you monster-like.
just rubbed me the wrong way i guess… idk lol
This is deformimisia. People with spinal deformities and craniofacial deformities exist.
When you use physical characteristics to represent behavior, you're spreading stereotypes about people who actually have those traits.
The squinted eyes also could be interpreted as a racial thing, potentially.
