This is a discussion we’ve had a million times but like, TikTok fandom vrs Tumblr fandom is SO weird.
Tumblr: We all care a lot about these characters, wow there sure are a lot of ships, it pisses me off when we mischaracterize this certain character, this is ONLY fictional you guys chill out!!!, wow this headcanon doesn’t seem close to canon but it sure is neat!
TT: This headcanon is so far from canon wtf are you doing man, they would never do that wtf is wrong with you man, this isn’t an acceptable ship I’m going to degrade and possibly threaten you now, it’s not cool to write smut or gore of this character bc they’re childcoded, it’s not cool to write uncomfortable things bc fandom is only for normal people actually. Not you because you aren’t normal.
Obviously these aren’t exclusive, and there’s tons of both IN both. I’m not saying we’re perfect cherubs and they all crawled up from hell to send death threats to a fourteen year old. We have tons of this too.
But there it seems much more apparent. No one seems to have fun. Maybe it’s more young people in fandoms who are both easily manipulated into thinking that they’re right being so strict and hateful and new to how fandoms have worked since Star Trek. Maybe that’s just what it’s like, because it just is. But it’s still weird.
Why do we care so much? Why are you getting so angry, for something you won’t remember. You won’t remember the lunter or whatever edit you left hate on, but the thirteen year old girl who made it will remember you telling her to hang herself. There is always room for anger in passion, but never room for hate.
Anyway. That was maybe coherent
