Because A Spoonful of Sugar is relatively slice-of-life style with a loose, long-term plot, in my head I kind of think of each chapter as an "episode". I have the overarching plot laid out and most of the chapters designated, although there's some wiggle room in the order so I can adjust as needed for pacing and plot needs. The nice thing about this format is that I can write one somewhat self-contained chapter and it doesn't have to be in order. The bad thing about this is that I can write one somewhat self-contained chapter and it doesn't have to be in order. I've actually toyed with putting out chapters just in whatever order I write them and basically letting people experience the fic on shuffle, but I've held off because I don't want to accidentally write myself into a corner and then have to retcon myself in the most confusing way possible.
With all that context out of the way, the events of the Hawkeye house file take place quite a ways out from what I've published so far. Roy and Riza find themselves in need of financing for a business venture, and Riza offers up a piece of her past to secure it. They also get milkshakes.
I'm really excited to eventually get to this point in the story, because this chapter does a lot of heavy lifting in terms of exposition around Riza's father and their relationship. It's also where a big shift happens for her emotionally that ripples out to impact quite a lot in the rest of the story 😏
