i think the thing that makes me feel connected to dorlene is that they both want more. they're too big for their own skin and they're too big for just one lifetime. i think they both feel trapped in their lives as well as thinking they're destined for so much more and that the world has so much untapped potential to dig out. after setting themselves free they both would do just that. dig. dig and dig and dig until they realize the soil 6 feet below looks the same as the soil on the surface. it's an idealized feeling that they try to chase and they'll never live to feel it because it just doesn't exist. but over time after a lot of self-reflection, they'll come to terms with it and realize what they feel for each other is the same type of all-consuming feeling they've been looking for. they didn't know that because they just haven't felt anything less.

i hate those trying-to-be-cute "symbolic" ship names because how am i just now finding out that wiseflower is minnie x poppy and not minnie x pomona sprout AND that nobleflower is narcissa x alice and not narcissa x lily

I was thinking of shipnames and cooler names than just theirs squished together. Cause we have some really pretty ones like wolfstar, starchaser, sunseeker, nobleflower, wiseflower, etc, but some are just really bland. So,, here are some thing my little brain came up with :>

- Mary + Lily: rebelflower.

Explanation:

Mary: Hebrew -> bitter, rebellion

Lily: Latin -> a flower, pure, passion, rebirth

- James + Lily: sunflower !!

(Why do we always use jily when we could use sunflower??)

- Dorcas + Marlene: lightgazelle

Explanation:

Marlene: greek -> high tower, child of light

Dorcas: greek -> gazelle

oh i love all of these! for jily i've also seen flowerpott, and for marlene stargazelle, bearing in mind the fact that the name marlene means star of the sea!

I try so hard not to be a hater but then I see people try to make 'stargazelle' happen as a shipname for dorlene and god is really trying me... (marlene's name means Star of the Sea, apparently, and if you google "dorcas name meaning" it says gazelle. I'm gonna go ahead and assume I'm not the only one who didn't happen to guess that from the shipname)
