I'm proud to say I've finally finished Splinter Cell Chaos Theory (again). My first experience with this game and Splinter Cell in general, believe it or not, was Splinter Cell 3D on the 3DS. An unusual place to start the series, but I was just a kid with a 3DS, and it was one of the games my dad bought for me. I remember having so much fun with that game and the amount of freedom you got. The amount of cool ways to approach a situation, distract enemies, playing around with the light and noise and shit. It was incredible and I must have played it like 5 times.
I only found out later in life it was based on Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, and it was actually an inferior version. So I had bought the game on Steam hoping to play it, but got disappointed it didn't have controller support on the PC Version, so I simply emulated the Xbox version on xemu. I was having a lot of fun until I got to that Bathhouse level. It was going pretty fine at first, until I got to that room with the 3 mercenaries and the part where you need to defuse the bombs. I don't exactly remember how this went in Splinter Cell 3D. It must have been a different level. I heard it was based of the PS2/Gamecube version.
It was a very painful experience. Shetland's mercenaries spot you so ridiculously fast it was annoying. It led to me to quit playing the game for several months. But there was a part of me that didn't want to leave any unfinished business behind, but didn't know how to address that annoying section of the Bathhouse, so I was simply waiting until I got interested in the game again.
I eventually found a thread on Steam that actually modifies the game to give it proper controller support like the Xbox version except for browsing menus, so I downloaded that, and replayed Chaos Theory all over again. This time I had to strictly follow a guide just to get by that one portion of Bathhouse. You notice it's the only level below 95%. I don't care much for that level and I'm glad I've finally moved past it and properly finish the game.
