Dr. Henry Jekyll

Commissioned steampunk knife

I just decided that I had to be done with this knife before I overworked it. Brass, copper, steel, wenge wood. Old watch parts, screws, wire. I ground the convex blade by hand, and etched the filigree on both the blade and the copper part of the handle. The image inside the crystal was selected by the customer, and printed on polyester paper (so it's nice and waterproof.) The locking mechanism, which includes a tiny spring, was a bitch to get right, but persistence pays off.

Figuring out the BG was tricky. Namely because I didn’t set to make a scene of any kind to begin with, just some themed background that would fit together with the character portrait themes. Also decided to go for a more cell shading style with this series, just to practice it some more.
