Stephen Gallagher has written novels (LOVE Kingdom of Bones, Chimera, Rain) and television scripts (for Doctor Who — for Rosemary & Thyme, Eleventh Hour, BBC series Murder Rooms, etc.) I’ve known Steve for ages, and in addition to being a brilliant writer, he’s an extremely generous person with a keen wit and wonderful sense of humor. He also makes a good guide round Leeds, where we spent today. Tried to stop at the Book Barge (going to pick up a book by @neil-gaiman to pose with) but it was closed. Sorry Neil! Also went to the art gallery … and discovered we have similar taste in pens.

It's a strong #Episode; again its very familiar horror film territory but it's done effectively and the narrative feels..classic rather than tired.#It is tho predictable at least to a seasoned viewer of this sort of nonsense; I'd guessed the primary twist within a few seconds #Still it's handled well and there are some suitably well prepared spooks and scares. Most interesting to a modern viewer probably for the #Presence of a young and feisty John Simm. A very fresh face indeed; he was only a couple of years into his career at this point #He's very good as a very troubled and sinister young man and he has excellent chemistry with his costars particularly Paul #Reynolds in a mutually dependent and deeply unhealthy relationship. A final minute secondary twist is a little too pat for me but it's the #Natural extension of the story I guess. Also nice to see the late Anna Keaveney; taken much too young and shining here in a nifty red #Herring of a role which keeps us guessing at the focus of the ep in the early scenes. It's a brief turn but she's superb
