Well, heyyy! First Sterek art of the year, this time for @sterekvalentineweek!
I haven’t made art in a while, and I’ve been heads down in a lot of writing (for both work and fic, so yeah, a lot of words). Then, I looked at an WIP art piece I had in my queue yesterday, and the idea struck me to make some Movie Fix-It art with a drabble to change things up and get into another headspace. I also wanted something nice to treat myself and others, so yeah, this is 100% self-indulgent.
24 hours later, I present some romantic Sterek fluff to you. Just imagine Derek filling pages of a journal trying to document his process to make the Jeep good as new again. And Stiles seeing this for the first time? So many feels!
Inspired by the prompts “confession” and “rose” (the latter influencing the color palette and vibes).
Cheers, and hope you enjoy! Happy Valentine’s Day, and spread all the Sterek love! <3

It’s surreal to see Stiles flipping through the pages of his precious journal, soaking in every single word and drawing he’s documented over the years.
“You’re a dumbass, Derek,” Stiles declares plainly.
[Or: Derek tells Stiles how he really feels about him after all these years apart from each other. Because it's written down on paper now, and it's about damn time.]

Summary: Derek was a weird kid. He tried not to become a weird adult, but things never go as planned. Stiles helps him through his insecurities.
It was a weird habit to get into. Not at first, though.
At first, the habit could be passed off as childish tempers getting the better of childish kids. Petty actions that seemed justifiable due to unlawful wrongdoing or mismanaged belongings. A way to stake a claim on something someone at some point unreasonably believed to be theirs.
That was how the licking started: harmless. Childish, but normal.
But then it evolved. In so many ways, the licking evolved.
Stiles: Omigodomigod, I love this song! You gotta dance with me, Der!
Der: Okay. But no grinding, Stiles. There are kids present.
Stiles: *mocking* Bleugh-bleugh-bleugh!
Derek: Stiles, I am not adverse to biting you on the dancefloor.
Stiles: Derek! There are kids present, you know!
Derek: Shut up and follow my lead, you lunatic.
Stiles: Daaaw! I love you too, Der-bear!
okay so i cheated and smooshed together the last four prompts for @sterekvalentineweek which were CANDY, DANCE, BITE, & TUXEDO. sue me lol. and in case you're wondering, the boys are attending scott+allison+isaac's wedding on st. valentine's day—the date was scott's idea bc he's a romantic sap ofc 💕

Title: It’s A Love Story, Baby, Just Say Yes
Fandom: Teen Wolf
Relationship: Derek Hale x Stiles Stilinski
Characters: Derek Hale x Erica Reyes x Isaac Lahey x Lydia Martin x Scott McCall x Sheriff Noah Stilinski x Stiles Stilinski x Vernon Boyd
Summary: For a while, there's a whole lot of nothing, just the sound of water splashing against tile, the scent of Stiles's Old Spice body wash wafting in the summer air, and—
Wait.
Is that…is Stiles singing Taylor Swift?
Derek tilts his head to the side, catching sight of what is unmistakably Stiles's silhouette framed in the open window, towel wrapped around his waist, using a hairbrush as a makeshift microphone and belting out what Derek is 99% sure is the song Love Story by Taylor Swift.
Written for Sterek Valentine Week 2021 for the theme “Love Song” and inspired by this amazing fan art (x) (x)
@sterekvalentineweek For Day 5’s theme ‘poem’, and inspired by Valentine by Carol Ann Duffy.

Now Derek’s the first to admit that he’s maybe not got the best track record when it comes to romance, but even he knows this is the weirdest possible thing Stiles could’ve given him for their first Valentine’s Day together as a couple.
“You got me an onion. For Valentine’s Day.” He could feel how high his eyebrows had climbed, knew they were practically touching his hairline. “You shouldn’t have. No. Really. You shouldn’t have,” he deadpanned, voice flat, pretty sure Stiles could hear the unsaid what the fuck behind it anyway.
Stiles stopped biting his thumbnail just long enough to roll his eyes.
“It’s supposed to be symbolic.”
“It is??” Derek asked, still confused.
“Yeah, you know… like the poem?”
Derek didn’t know. Not right away, at least. Then he remembered the book of poems by Carol Ann Duffy that Stiles had been studying a few months back for one of his college classes. There had been one poem in it called Valentine and he and Stiles had once sat up all night debating the meaning of it and what it said about love and the relationship at the centre of it. It had been one of the best nights of Derek’s life. He couldn’t believe he hadn’t put it together sooner.
Smiling now, he pulled Stiles gently to him, wrapped his arms around his waist and murmured softly, “Why don’t you remind me of its symbolism again then, huh?”
Stiles rolled his eyes again, but fondly, a small smile spreading across his face too.
“Well, like the poem says, ‘I give you an onion. It is a moon wrapped in brown paper. It promises light.’ You’re a werewolf and the moon is important in your culture.” He ducked his head shyly before adding, “But I also want to bring you light.”
“You do,” Derek stated firmly, slipping one hand under Stiles’ chin and lifting his head so he could look him in the eye, hoping Stiles could see how sincerely he meant that, before pressing a soft kiss to his lips. Stiles kissed back and Derek could feel him smiling against his lips. But when he pulled back Stiles’ face became serious again, sober. Sombre, even.
“But that’s not all the poem says about the onion. It also says ‘It will blind you with tears like a lover.’ I don’t want to make you cry, Derek, but I probably will. I love you. I love you so much. But I’m not perfect. I’m not soft. I’m hard edges and broken glass. I’m sharp words and a harsh tongue. I don’t want to cut you, but I probably will. And you’ll probably do the same to me. Because you’re not perfect either. I know it’s not the most romantic of sentiments, but, like the poem says, ‘I am trying to be truthful’. Not cute, but truthful. Because no matter what happens, no matter how we’ll sometimes inevitably hurt each other with thoughtless words or bitter retorts or brutal honesty, I’ll always stay. I’ll always want to be with you. I’ll always love you.”
“I’ll always love you too, Stiles,” Derek whispered, drawing him close again and burying his nose in the juncture of Stiles’ neck and shoulder.
“You’d better,” Stiles muttered darkly, causing Derek to laugh at his tone.
“Oh, really?”
“Yes, really. Because just like this onion my ‘fierce kiss will stay on your lips, possessive and faithful as we are, for as long as we are.’”
“I think I can live with that,” Derek smiled, leaning in for another kiss. “I’ve always liked onions.”
“Good,” said Stiles. “Because their ‘platinum loops shrink to a wedding ring, if you like’. No, don’t worry! I’m not proposing. Yet. But I wanted you to know that that’s where I see this going, where I want it to go, Derek. And I guess I just needed to check that we’re on the same page, that we want the same things. A home, a marriage, a famil-“
“Yes.” Derek cut him off. “Yes, Stiles, we want the same things. I want all those things. With you.”
Derek hadn’t realized just how tense Stiles had been until he felt him practically melt against him, relief rolling off him in waves.
“Good,” he whispered. “That’s… that’s good.”
“But Stiles?”
“Yeah?”
“If you give me cabbage for Christmas or broccoli for my birthday I’m out of here, just so you know.”
Stiles snorted, a comeback already forming on his lips, but it was instantly forgotten as Derek once again pulled him into a fierce, lingering kiss.
And if Derek was already planning in his head exactly how he was going to propose to Stiles next Valentine’s Day, well, that was for him to know and Stiles to find out.
The bed was warm and he was content to stay here, under the thick duvet and blanketed in their combined scents, and snuggle in the warmth forever. What would make it even better is if Stiles is in the bed with him.
Eyes still closed, one arm traversed under the thick covers to search for his bed partner. An errant bed partner, apparently.
Derek slid an eye open to survey the room. Early morning light filtered through the window curtains, showing him that he is indeed the only one in bed. Where is Stiles?
He stretched his senses and searched the apartment within the comforts of his bed. If possible, Derek would love to stay the whole day in bed. It's the weekend, he deserves a relaxing time as a byproduct of a quiet Beacon Hills. He knocked his knuckles on the wooden bedside table, just in case, if he jinxed himself.
A sound caught his attention. Several sounds, actually. Several sounds that came from the kitchen. Stiles is cooking in the kitchen instead of lazing in bed, as per usual. How their roles have changed.
He groaned into the pillows before sitting up and stretched his sleep loose limbs and made his way out of bed.
↬
Feet padded quietly out of their bedroom and into the kitchen. He wasn't trying to be sneaky or anything, it's just after all this time it's kind of second nature to walk quietly instead of loudly and alerting your enemies. Well, his enemy right now is that his boyfriend is awake and moving around instead of indulging in some sleepy cuddles after last night.
Derek leaned at the kitchen island as he watched Stiles putter around the kitchen, making what looked like an elaborate breakfast, for some reason. He couldn't keep quiet anymore.
"What are you doing, Stiles?"
Stiles made a squeaking sound as he turned around, hand on his chest. "What are you doing up?"
He raised his brows. "I was enjoying my sleep until I realized that my boyfriend isn't in bed with me." He stared pointedly and repeated, "what are you doing, Stiles?"
Stiles exhaled loudly, as if exasperated. He probably is. "I was going to make breakfast for you to eat in bed."
Derek's eyebrows stayed where they were.
"Ugh. I just wanted to make the day after special," he pouted.
Derek chuckled. "Just because I planned our Valentine's date? I was hoping we could sleep in today." He looked at the assorted meal. "Since I'm already wide awake, are you done cooking or do you need help?"
"Well, you can cook bacon. I was saving that for last," Stiles waves his hand around and turned back to the remaining pancake batter.
Derek slipped behind him, arms enveloping his waist and kissing him tenderly on his crown and neck. The tension in Stiles melted at the tender touches.
Derek moved to the other stove, pan already on it, and greased the pan before placing the bacon in the pan.
A few moments later, a platter of bacon is done alongside a mountain of pancakes. Oranges are juiced and coffees are brewed.
"Okay, let's bring them to bed and have breakfast in bed," Derek said as he pulled out a large wooden tray and placed their breakfast on the tray and moved towards their bedroom.
Stiles followed suit after blinking his eyes and gaping like a fish for a few long moments.
