Some thoughts on autistic self-acceptance
Even though it's not Autism Acceptance Month yet I just wanted to share something I've realised recently. Which is that who I am beneath the mask is absolutely fine and OK and great. I'd say that all autistic people mask to some degree when we're in the NT world. I just want to say that who we are underneath the mask; the part of us that stims and rocks and flaps and hums and paces and repeats words and sounds when we're alone is absolutely 100 per cent fine and OK and valid. This might not be news to a lot of people but I just wanted to share my thoughts on this as it's something I've struggled with pretty much my whole life and I'm in a better headspace now I've realised this. I hope you are all well and you have a great week x
