To my witches, polytheist witches, and polytheists in general:

Can all of you help me cast a spell of protection over me, my family, the rest of my loved ones, my loved one’s property and homes, the place that I work, my home, my animals, and all of our property?  Can you please send prayers to all storm deities, family deities, and home deities to protect everything above?  South Carolina is directly in the path of Hurricane Florence.  The last forecast I saw, landfall is supposed to hit SC and plow straight through it.  This storm is a monster, covering the whole state, all of NC, part of Virginia, and half of Georgia.  Please just send up protection spells and prayers.

If you’ve been watching meteorologists’ predictions this past week, you’ll have noticed how frequently and wildly projections of her path have changed. She is a massive, powerful, and unpredictable force. Storms like Florence remind us of Mother Nature’s terrible power and that, in spite of all our cunning and advanced technology, we cannot control her; we remain subject to her, a small part of the greater tapestry of teeming, whirling life.

Hi, I have been looking to study gods or goddesses of rain and storms (apart from Thor) and also others of strength, like physical strength, and maybe determination? I am having difficulty finding a good list or even ones that quite match that on the Internet. I thought maybe you guys could point me in a good direction? Thanks for whatever help you can give :)

There are all different types of strength and ways that manifests, craftsman deities might be something looking in to if that is something that draws your attention.

The Dagda might be worth checking in to, maybe Hephaestus, it really has a lot to do with what sort of strength you're really looking for. Deities that have strong ties to athletics will be good choices.

As far as storm deities go though...

Cailleach is a Celtic Goddess of winter and much of her imagery leads to that of storms, I believe in Scotland she gets referred to as a Storm Hag. Beira is another goddess with similar role and function. Sometimes these two are considered different translations of the same goddess.

Aegier and Ran are Norse giants who dwell beneath the oceans, Ran specifically is a goddess of seas and storms.

There are going to be many examples in Greek mythos: Zeus, Poseidon various smaller gods of the winds. Theoi is the place to go for them.

Off of the top of my head, those are the ones that I can immediately think of. Anyone else?

The Tempestates and Iuno are associated with storms, while Iuppiter and Summanus are associated with thunder and lightning.  Those were for the Roman pantheon; for the Greek pantheon, there's Zeus.

In the Etruscan pantheon, Tinia is the chief god who wields lightning and creates thunder, but Uni, Menrva, Sethlans, Laran, and several others are capable of wielding lightning as well.  In addition, Satre is a god who can make thunder.

The Kemetics have Set, a god of storms; the Norse have Thor; there's Perun, a Slavic god of thunder and lightning; Adad is an Akkadian god of storms and thunder.
