#don't answer the phone!#strangling tw #violent imagery #video nasty #1980 #robert hammer #michael d. castle #michael curtis #james westmoreland #flo lawrence #ben frank #nicholas worth #denise galik #stan haze #gary allen #pamela jean bryant #paula warner #gail jensen #dale kalberg #victor mohica #a procedural indie slasher not unlike (in shape and form) similar movies to meld those themes (The Zodiac Killer or Mardi Gras Massacre #come to mind‚ I've posts on both somewhere). this distinguishes itself by its sheen of professionalism; it's a damn site better looking #than those other two films‚ better written and acted too. don't get me wrong‚ this is still trashy cinema; it's just that it's so #competently made and looks so good that‚ with some minor edits‚ this same script could very easily have been made (for a lot more money) in #the mid 90s as a mainstream psychological thriller. performances are largely pretty strong too‚ particularly Worth's gutsy‚ manic turn as #the killer; sadly most recognisable name Westmoreland is out of kilter with the rest‚ seems bored with the film and faintly embarrassed to #be there. also the location work (shot without permits on the streets of LA) is some impressive guerilla stuff that helps with that #impressive look that sells this film so well. my main confusion was the female lead being a radio psychiatrist #I honestly thought that Frasier had invented the concept‚ it's such a profoundly weird idea to me

The killing game between Amai's class had ended with the mastermind defeated. While there were a few waking up and trying to get to their families, Amai was looking for their victim. Yukihiko had almost done something terrible, sure, but they were the one that ultimately took his life, something that they still regretted as they made their way to Yukihiko's hospital room.

Knocking on the door, they open it slowly. They were struggling due to the inactivity they were forced through, but so was everyone else in their class with only Masao, Yotsuba, and Botan able to walk and start working out without any aid so far. "I-I know you probably don't want to see me, but-"

Their apology was cut off as soon as it started, Yukihiko didn't say a word as he gets out of bed and rushes forward, hands around Amai's neck as he pushes them against the wall, tightening his grip on his neck. Amai's eyes are wide with surprise, but... they don't fight back. Their hands that had instinctively went up to defend themself go limp at their side as they stare up at him, waiting to see what he will do, neither of them realizing that someone is watching them.

ok wait. revamping izdajas death. i think what izdaja said to mel that finally made him snap and kill him was percieved differently from how it was said. izdaja says something within the context of the situation but also thinking a little about how it is compared to how his brother died. something like "we're alone, just do it. no one will see you." but how mel takes it is in the context of like a lot of his life. this is a culmination of all that he's done. he's alone. he's pushed everyone away from him, one of the very dragons he cared for is suffocating under the weight of his claws. no one will see him. he's nothing, again. in the eyes of his mother, the eyes of an entire kingdom, the eyes of the world. the eyes of the dragon who is about to die, the eyes of the dragon who he's proven his power to time and time again. that makes him nothing. all he's worked for, equates to nothing. and so he snaps and strangles izdaja to death.
