so I'm gonna repurpose this tumblr as a place to share a wider range of art I make...

so I thought I would quickly reintroduce myself here!

so there's, like, a huge dump of process and studio photos up there, if that's your jam - go forth and dowse through them for secrets about the arcane rituals I use to make art

I'm Shel Kahn, you may remember me from such projects as: By Crom!, a cromulent autobio comic or The Corruption of Pelursk, a cursed ttrpg module or Lomy and the Abyss, a comic that asks 'why heavy metal tho' and answers 'fuck you, that's why' but also feels bad about swearing ....or maybe you just really like crystal islands.

I'm an art director by day at an indie videogame studio, and by night, and on weekends, and on vacation, and really wherever I can squeeze it in, I like to draw, and paint, and write, and make things. I love watercolour and gouache, designing toys and games, making comics and zines, and the joy of colour!

I found this Novation Launchpad in a second hand store a few months ago. I’ve been after one of these for years and, after a bit of fiddling, I have it fully set up as a custom control surface for my audio editing setup.

It’s also real pretty, and looks vaguely Trekkie.

Můžu se zeptat, co používáš za DAW? A jaký jsou tvoje oblíbený pluginy?

už pár let jedu přes Cubase, momentálně používám Cubase LE AI Elements 8 (a mouthfull i know lol), na některý věci jako jsou pitch shifty a další blbinky který mají Elementy okleštěný, mám pořád po ruce starý dobrý Audacity.

ohledně pluginů budu basic, ale momentálně jsem naprosto obsessed s Ample Guitar M Lite. moje tlapky jsou přivyklé nástrojům klávesovým a ze strunných nástrojů zvládám basu a ukulele, ale kytara? no ma’am. tlapky say nono. a AGML mi zachraňuje už nějakou dobu při nahrávání život.

jinak jsem cheap bitch, takže z ostatních pluginů využívám hlavně Halion Sonic SE pro přirozený zvuky, Prologue na nějakou oldschool elektroniku, a MiniLab od Arturie, páč na hardware MiniLabu dělám téměř všecko.
