do you have any recommendations for chewy/mouth stim toys? I have one of the chewy necklaces from stimtastic but they're all way too big - I'm hoping to find something a little less obtrusive/more subtle. it doesn't even need to be particularly robust either - I do less chewing and more just... holding it in my mouth if that makes sense. thanks in advance for any ideas!
Hey there! My fave chew necklace is a little more expensive than stimtastic’s stuff but it’s thinner than many of their options: it’s this "krypto-bite” necklace from Ark Therapeutic. They also have a saber tooth one that I liked. Since you don’t chew super hard you’d probably want to go with the soft option.
Beyond chewelry, some subtle options include:
Pencils or pens; wooden pencils are especially nice but maybe have just one at a time that is designated for chewing rather than writing so you can try to keep it less germy
Your fingers (my main go-to tbh)
Drink from a styrofoam or plastic cup, or get a water bottle that has a nice chewy lid/straw/place you sip from. I have this camelback water bottle and not only is it wonderfully durable; the part you sip from is a sturdy plastic that i love to chew on for some reason
A rubber spatula -- i found one at Bed Bath and Beyond that’s thinner than an average spatula, only like half an inch wide and i love it for chewing
Baby chew toys are sooooo good. i like the kind that have liquid inside that you can put in the freezer if you like chewing cold things. you might also try a pacifier.
