#sudden chill

Today's polish is so beautiful in a way that was tough to capture in pictures. It has a blue base with purple to pink shifting aurora shimmer and silver light reflective glitter. What my pictures don't quite show is the way that the shimmer transforms the base color into an indigo color in just about all lighting. The closest I got to how it looks in real life is the picture in the kitchen on the bottom left and the direct sun picture on the top right. I did get a bottle shot so you can see the shimmer a little easier, but it's brighter there than it looked on the nail. Regardless, I loved this one in and it had a fantastic formula. Sudden Chill (Closed Starter)

Boots crunching against the snow beneath her feet, Tarma slowly made her way through the forest circling Snowdin, hands thoroughly digging into her pockets. As the icy air filled her nostrils and flared out into a visible puff of smoke, she did her best to avoid slipping on a sheet of ice, walking across with the utmost trepidation.

What was she doing here again?

{Of all the people to send to the outpost—I don’t even handle the repairs—why am I here!?}

She grumbled to no one in particular, doing her best to burrow her face into her scarf, encased in several jackets. If she were to stick her hands out now, they’d start crystallizing in an instant. And far be it from her to use fire magic, especially not after last time. Her stomach was still churning in knots simply by her coming here.

Sighing, she carried on through the woods, unaware of the other presence that was waiting to make itself known.

a sudden chill runs through my spine 

both of us rooted to the ground 

all the pent up emotion i kept hidden rushes to the surface

a few years ago, day one of my masters’ degree, a soon to be good friend remarked after exchanging pleasantries; “cello eh, do you like Arthur Russell?”  

with no previous knowledge of this unique individual and his output, the last three years have been a truly fascinating experience - discovering the sheer depth in Russell’s music.

the obsessive nature in which Arthur utilized the studio as a compositional tool, combined with his stunningly crafted mixing of sonic textures opened a whole new world for me.  And through these doors of discovery the beginning of just how amazing the cello can be as songwriting companion.   

focusing predominantly on his works featuring cello, voice and electronics I have completed a handful of transcriptions of Arthur’s songs performing some of them as part of my set in my solo project.  www.vaudreymusic.com
