Superman Treasury 2025
I make no secret I adore the work of Dan Jurgens. He really introduced me to what Superman could be, and he formed a bridge between my fondness for Man of Steel and the actual Man of Steel. So when I found out he would be writing Superman Treasury 2025 I was all in.
The result was... lackluster, I feel. A lot of it is abrupt, moving at breakneck pace from event to event with no room to breathe. This include moments that are fast-paced and brutal, and moments that are less so.
I also feel some disappointment that this is just a rehash of Superman's history. The conflict being purposefully-designed to take him off the board before an invasion is intriguing and would have made for some compelling drama had I not known there were other extremely powerful champions of Earth who could have filled in for him. Their loss felt like jobbing so Superman can look good in the end.
It's fun, but I think if you think about it for too long the plot won't hang together too well. If you're looking to read something like that then give this a read.
