Are home workouts as effective as gym workouts? The answer is absolutely… depending on what your goals are. 😁 If your goal is to torch fat, gain & tone muscle, improve endurance, and get healthy, then Metabolic Resistance Training (MRT) is the perfect formula for your home workouts. What is MRT? It involves performing a sequence of exercises with a resistance (dumbbells, resistance bands, bodyweight) with little to no rest in between movements. This is commonly known as HIIT training, circuit training, supersets, etc. Light to moderate weight with higher rep ranges (12-20+) is ideal for MRT. If using an interval timer, work/rest ratios of 20/10, 30/15, 40/20, 45/15 are most commonly found in your fitness classes at the gym, and for good reason. The intensity of MRT greatly increases your EPOC (excess post-exercise oxygen consumption). This basically means that your body will burn a TON of calories in a shorter period of time during your workout, and it will continue to be a fat torching machine for hours afterward. So can home workouts be effective?
