Cas, obviously, can never know. Castiel has admired his neighbor Dean for years. Unfortunately, being a witch, it would be unwise for him to pursue a relationship with a mortal. Still, when Dean is injured in a fall, he can’t help wanting to take care of the object of his affections. If only he could tell Dean the truth.

Have you ever wanted to read a romcom about a witch and a vampire pining over each other and have it be about Dean and Cas?

No, I hadn’t realized I wanted it either, but as soon as I saw the summary for this fic I had to read it.

What follows is a cute story of a comedy of errors. Dean and Cas are dealing with parallel problems— not that they know it. I had a great time watching Dean and Cas try to hide their identities from each other. Everything about this fic is fun and funny. Yes, even the blood drinking (wait ‘till you see the name of the delivery service!).

With an enjoyable cast of side characters— including raven familiar Jack— this fic is sure to amuse and warm the heart. A great read if you’re in need of a pick me up. Or, simply, it’s great for anyone who enjoys a well written story.

In return, she bespelled him: whenever he spoke, fresh mini-pies fell from his lips. From that day on, he never spoke lest he reveal the forbidden magic that inhabited him. Now Castiel sells pies from his food truck, Honey Pies, and silence is second nature. One day he meets Dean Winchester, an engineer who promises a miracle. After years of solitude and secrets, can Dean pull Castiel from the shadows? Castiel signs on as his test subject and hopes for normalcy; the last thing he expects is to fall in love.

Right off the bat this fic introduces its fairy tale inspired world with a magical (and beautiful) description of the setting of Maltese City. The prose employs folktale-like writing and draws the reader into the enchanted— he would say cursed— life of Castiel. 

This fic is magical. That is the best word for it. Everything in this world has a sprinkle of fairy dust and makes the reader want to live in it. Told through Cas’s eyes as he tries to carry on a relationship with Dean while attempting to navigate his secret curse, this story is a treat to read. Dean and Cas are as sweet as pie together. 

Also, the character of Charlie is well used. She is Cas’s best friend and supportive of him, but she also has her own life to deal with. The friendship is well written and will warm your heart.

Fair warning to readers: you will be craving so much pie once you finish this fic. Make sure you have one ready to go! It will be the perfect dessert once you finish reading the fulfilling and satisfying ending of this fic (seriously, that ending is amazing!).

You look like you’re about to pass out right there.” “If I could do that, this wouldn’t be happening,” Castiel muttered, but he obligingly put his hand in Dean’s and allowed the man to help pull him up. He swayed dangerously, and Dean rested a hand to his back, steadying him. His touch was warm, and Castiel found himself leaning into it. Castiel is getting desperate for sleep, and when his roommate suggests he find a cuddle buddy, he figures it can’t hurt to give it a shot.

Or the one where Cas is so sleep-deprived, he is positively hilarious to watch. And while Charlie does snicker a bit at his antics, she is also very worried, which is why she tells him to find a warm body to sleep next to.

Now, she might have had something entirely different in mind, but finding someone to cuddle up to turns out to be just what the doctor ordered. Or maybe, it was all just Dean. He is kind and his voice is soothing and he knows exactly what to do and what to say. Really, the perfect, most softest pillow.

Someone Cas might want to get to know better... After he wakes up.

The Bird Professor

“Is this—” a voice slurs through the phone. Though its owner is obviously drunk, the voice—Dean’s voice—is deep and sort of rough, and a shiver runs down Castiel’s spine before he can really register what’s happening. “This the— the bird inspector?” “Uh.” Castiel blinks. “The bird inspector? Do you mean the bird professor?” “That’s the shit!” “What the fuck?” Gabriel mouths. Castiel. “Um, yes. This is the bird professor.” “Give it to me straight, doc, I gotta settle something,” Dean drawls. “Do hummingbirds have feet?”

Based on a funny tweet by icon and legend NorthernSparrow, this fun little fic is a quick but hilarious read. Dean gets into a disagreement at a bar about whether hummingbirds have feet and ends up calling the hot ornithology professor who teaches at the same college with him.

They are both disaster men in this one with mutual crushes. The fic also makes great use of Gabriel and Charlie as enablers-slash-bad influences. It's a memorably cute and awkward fic that has me grinning every time I revisit it.

Right Where You Left Me

Most of their class left town after school. On to bigger and better things than what Lawrence had to offer. Not Dean. He still lives in the same house, drives the same car, and sits in the same corner booth at the local diner. Right where Cas left him a decade ago. When Dean’s best friend (and secret crush) left town after graduation and all but disappeared, he never expected to hear from him ever again. But when Charlie reminds him of their upcoming ten year reunion, Dean wonders if there might be a second chance to tell his best friend what he should’ve when he had the chance.

While this fic is short, it really packs a lot of punches. The good kind, like miscommunication, mutual pining, and even a reunion, as the summary hints. In this fic, we’re with Dean as he’s gearing up to finally confess his feelings for his best friend, only for Cas to spring on him the worst news he possibly could: that he’s leaving town, and most likely won’t be looking back. It hurts, but we move on with Dean, ten years down the road where he’s still right where Cas left him, still harboring his feelings. 

And then his new bff Charlie announces that she’s planning their ten year reunion. Dean tries his best not to let on that he’s hoping Cas shows, but by the end of the night when he’s still missing, Dean is definitely the first to leave— until a taxi pulling into the parking lot slows his feet. 

It’s no surprise that Cas is inside, but what follows is a really sweet reunion, filled with revelations and some cute surprises that had me cheering this version of them on. This is a sweet fic that shouldn’t be missed!

Three Funerals and a Wedding

“So, um…basically, it’s this… I need you to marry me. For plot.” Castiel stares at him. “What?” Dean asks, rubbing the back of his neck uncomfortably. “I cannot believe gay marriage came to Moondoor before a significant part of America.”

A fake marriage, only one tent, delightfully tropey light read for your consideration.

When Charlie discovers that Cas is considering quitting their regular LARP events, she comes up with a plan to make Dean and Cas get fake married for plot purposes. They are both very into each other and also very dumb about it. There's enough mutual pine to LARP in. As their characters progress in their relationship, things stop being quite so clear in real life.

The fic is largely sweet and fluffy with some light angst (despite a few heavy topics being touched on). Charlie ships it hard and adorably. Plus Dean gets to live out his dorkiest dreams. It's a winning combination!

Dean Winchester inherited his father’s garage (and their family home, and his 14-year-old genius of a brother) shortly after his eighteenth birthday. Their Uncle Bobby comes down to help Dean learn how to run the business, and Sam convinces his brother to take some classes so he’ll be equipped to expand the mom and pop garage into the classic restoration shop he’s dreamed about for years. Now five years later, a little foray onto the internet to promote his shop leads Dean to a very interesting corner of Tumblr, and a mysterious online friend who only knows Dean as his #Fiance Anon. What happens after more than a year of increasingly fond anonymous correspondence?

This is one of my all time favorite AUs because of the author’s fun and familiar incorporation of Tumblr and their brilliant characterizations of everyone and the incredibly witty banter that had me giggling throughout their story. We vividly see Dean’s and Cas’ characteristic self-doubt from Dean’s point of view that has them pining anonymously on Tumblr for a year and correspondingly tugs at our heartstrings and wish that we could lock them in a room together. I really enjoyed reading Sam’s big brain at work, and although he is a bit too prying, it was amusing and sometimes comical how he enlists their found family on a project to bring personal happiness to his older brother by sussing out Dean’s anonymous crush. The interactions between Dean’s found family are playful and thoroughly help to flesh out the story while offering us some comic relief amidst the mutual pining. Readers will adore the Cas and Charlie dynamic, as well. I also love the immediate profound bond Dean and Cas felt for each other even though they didn’t meet in person. It’s through these anonymous Tumblr communications that give them a safe environment to be more revealing about themselves to each other than to the people in their own lives.

The author’s style of writing is always so comforting and leaves me in a state of joy by the last chapter. Even though Project Beyonce is filled with fluff and humor, this story is also about Dean and Cas saving each other from a life that isn’t quite fulfilled and believing they are worthy and deserve happiness, especially with each other. Readers will definitely be invested in our boys’ journey, and luckily for us, the author has created this into a Tumblr Anonymous series with more stories and timestamps, so you will surely become very attached and fall in love with this Dean and Cas!
