Hey guys! How's it going?🙂. . Another week, another weekend 😉 This Friday I am trying a new one from The Balvenie, it's the new 12yo, The Sweet Toast of American Oak 👌🏻🥃? . Inspired to produce an even fruitier, sweeter Balvenie, Apprentice Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie had the bright idea to import Virgin Oak barrels from Kentucky. After deep toasting them at The Balvenie Cooperage they were filled with Balvenie aged in ex-bourbon barrels. The result is a delectably complex whisky with notes of candied fruit, coconut and delicate vanilla. . So let's see what we have here:. . Nose: Sweet and malty, then comes the citrus and vanilla oak notes, fudge, spicy oak, cinnamon, cloves and gingerbread. . Palate: Spicy cream of candied oranges, chocolate orange, coconut and lots of oak. Sweet, like brown sugar, butterscotch, citrus zest, toffee. . Finish: Rich, medium length. Lingering oak and vanilla spices. . It's not the most complex whisky, but I must say that I really like it 🙂 I recommend you try it 😉. . Cheers my friends and have a great weekend! Toast with cheese, apples and caramelised onions - Sponsored

I got a bit wild and I will not write how many toasts I had for the past weeks, I’ll just say that I liked each one of them. The whole thing is that they released this perfect toast and burger cheese which melts like heaven. This is a real thing, because not each cheese will melt well and give you this lovely chewy effect.

Toast with cheese, apples and caramelised onions reminds me of my home country - Poland, as we love apples over there. My parents have an apple tree in a garden and I think many people used to have it when I was a kid. I also love lavender, which makes everything smell so much better and has a unique flavour. Onion is my personal choice, as I love caramelised onion :D  When you combine everything in one, you will achieve your perfect toast. And I mean! My trick is to put  more cheese on my bread as I want it to melt and touch the surface of the pan, so it’s fries on the edges a bit and has this unique flavour. Soooooo gooood!

You’ll need for 2:

1 medium onion

1 medium apple

2 slices of bread

4 slices of Leerdammer Toast & Burger Herzhaft-intensiv

few springs of lavender

pinch of pepper

1 tbsp butter for frying

1/2 tsp sugar

1 tbsp olive oil

Let’s start with caramelised onion. Cut Onion in about 3mm slices. Heat 1 tbsp of oil on a pan and start to fry onion over a medium heat. After about 10 minutes, add sugar and fry 5 more minutes. Mix it from time to time, so it won’t burn. Add apple cut in wedges and a few springs of lavender and fry a few more minutes so it gets tender. Set it on the side. 

Melt butter in a pan and start to fry slices of bread, when you switch on the other side, place two slices of cheese on both slices and cover pan with a lid. Fry till the cheese melts (about 3-5 minutes). Top toasts with onion and apples, season with a bit of pepper and enjoy each bite.

I'm up at 7am on a Sunday morning which is rather unusual because Sunday's are my sleep in day since my HIIT class only starts at 1pm. But I needed to be at my grandma's place for lunch so I'm just gonna get my lift in the morning instead. Giving up my pancake stack for toasts because pancakes takes way too long to make and I'm in a rush 😩 but still ain't gonna lose out on the breakfast game 😈 The deets: • Savory toast: mashed avocado and a soft boiled egg with black pepper. • Sweet toast: cinnamon swirl proyo (@chobani plain yogurt, @cellucor cinnamon swirl whey and ground cinnamon) spread topped with warmed blueberries and raspberries, @picspeanutbutter smooth peanut butter, homemade chocolate sauce and ghirardelli's dark chocolate pepper mint bark pieces. The sweet toast is literally on point. The chocolate was a little melty due to the warmed berries sauce and the entire combo was literally heaven in the mouth. I don't know about you guys, but I have a serious chocolate addiction. I could finish the entire bar of Lindt's 90% chocolate in a serving.
