Between Sordward and Shielbert, I think it’s clear who the least favorite uncle is.
please let one of these two be at least somewhat featured in the main story tomorrow pLEASEEEEEE
Avery’s outfit in Pokemon Sword and Shield is so disgusting it makes me feel enraged, I like Avery, but I hate looking at him, they truly did him DIRTY. As the psychic Gym leader, he deserved at least a partial upgrade. I’ve tried to keep some of his original dorky style, without it making me rage.
as an update to my post about Avery saying he blocks things with force fields in actual fights
Avery sweetie I am so sorry, I wasn’t aware all the dumbass extra shit he was doing was things the rest of his family was legit capable of
Pokemon Sword and Shield: World Headcannons
I’ve been sitting on these forever and I don’t know if I’m going to get around to writing it, so here are my thoughts! I am also hoping to make a character head cannon one that will most likely be A LOT longer than this.
(The protagonist in this AU is Gloria)
-Unlike the other regions, Galar’s Pokemon League is much more like a spectator event instead of a personal journey. Because of this, I head cannon that the GPL (Galarian Pokemon League) is not a year round thing. They have one Fall League and one Spring League, meaning there is two a year. The off seasons are Summer and Winter due to the harsher weather.
-Some Gyms elect to take advantage of the two season year by having rotating gym leaders. Bea and Allister switch for Stow-In-Side because they are both still students and have to spend the rest of the year focusing on their studies (much more info on my headcannons for them in the character post). Melody and Gordie switch off in Circhester mainly due to Melody. She is growing older and wants to focus more on her family, but she is also too stubborn to step down. Gordie is helping cover so that he can eventually take the gym over altogether.
-Although a lot of fan favourite League participants transition into becoming a gym leader if they do not beat the champion, this is not the only way you can become a gym leader. The standing gym leader of a representative town can step down and give the position to you if they think you can handle it (this would be the former gym leader for Stow-In-Side, Edmund, who has retired out of his role). The town can also elect to have a gym leader, so long as their is a building to house them. The gym will likely not become in the main league right away, but word of mouth can travel fast if the leader is powerful (Avery/Klara would be the best current example of this). Finally, potential Pokemon trainers can challenge current gym leaders to take their place. This is usually much more difficult than just battling them as a League Participant because the leaders put their all into protecting their role. This does not happen often, but Nessa is a gym leader that has taken this path to obtain her role.
-Gym Leaders can become Champions during the final championship in the GLP (aka when you fight in the bracket before you battle the champion). If the Gym Challenger does not beat the gym leader they are against, they do not proceed. Raihan and Bea have both surpassed their gym challenger and fought Leon for his title. Allister eventually challenges Gloria and DOES take her title.
-I mentioned above that towns can elect to have a gym. I headcannon that Spikemuth is only about three years into the GLP when Gloria joins the League, which explains why it does not yet have a Dynamax hotspot or a stadium.
-The official age to join the GLP is 16 years old, and you are only allowed to perform in the league once. You also have to have a sponsorship in order to join. You can get this from a gym leader, the chairman, or the champion. In conclusion, it is incredibly difficult to participate in the GLP. That is why people get incredibly attached to the league challengers; they are like famous athletes there.
-There are many minor leagues in Galar as well. There is the JGLP (Junior Galarian Pokemon League) for children ages 10-18 to participate in. This is not a one time exclusive thing and is treated much more like a club through their school. The WGC (Women’s Galarian Challenge) is a female-only training league started through a feminist movement against the GC (Galarian Challenge) which used to only allow men to enter (both genders can enter now. Think of it like different sports leagues). Finally, there is the GSL (Galarian Senior League) run by Gym Leader Kabu!
-There have been many League Champions, but Gloria is the first female one! She was under everyone’s radar when she first joined the league, but her and Marnie quickly became fan favourites.
-It was a common belief that Leon would overtake Mustard’s previous record and become the longest standing champion. Gloria, unfortunately, breaks his 10 year streak.
-This is the order of Gym Leaders (That we know). I am not including every former champion here because I don’t want to add a bunch of names between Mustard and Peony (His card says it’s been 50ish years since he was champion):
1. Mustard (Held for 18 years)
2. Edmund (Held for 9 years) (Mentioned above as former Stow-In-Side Leader)
3. Peony (Held for 7 years)
4. Leon (Held for 10 years)
5. Gloria (Held for 7 years)
6. Allister (Held for 7 years)
-You have to apply to attend Mustard’s Dojo at the Isle of Armor, but he is much more interested in potential than brute strength. Many people who have attended say that it is a much more nurturing/familial environment as opposed to Galar’s cutthroat nature.
I think that’s it for now! Let me know your headcannons and keep an eye out for my character analysis!
