every single person who argues that the DSM totally agrees with endogenic plurality because the DSM doesn't have trauma in the diagnostic criteria for DID despite the much more reasonable explanation being amnesia that may involve your childhood being a criteria and maybe that's to account for the people who literally might not be able to remember any of their trauma and maybe their whole childhoods and not the completely un proven notion that DID without trauma totally exists is an ableist and i'm tired of these people getting to go completely unchallenged by their own communities so much of the time
if you're wondering why i'm saying this i have two reasons
1. spreading misinformation about a disorder to validate yourself is ableist?????? hello?????
2. historically whenever people are challenging the trauma basis of DID they are doing so because they don't believe it's real eg the fantasy theory, the "your therapist made you like this" theory, and even the empowered multiples who thought multiple selves were simply a natural state of being that couldn't be caused by trauma, and whenever i see people explaining why they think there's some other cause they either have no other explanation besides misinterpreting the DSM or share a concerning amount of points with people who don't believe DID is real
edit: no this post is not referring to the claim that plurality or alters exist outside of DID it is specifically referring to the claim that DID does not require trauma to form because trauma is not a criteria in the DSM, it's also not referring to criterion D, loud sigh
