I know people are only sort of into a stitch in time but I NEED to talk more about the lokar/palandine/garak dynamic bc. it's fascinating and insane and such a look into garaks character. like lokar as a representation of ideal cardassian Heterosexual Male whom garak cannot help but be in love with and palandine showing him the slightest flash of kindness which immediately makes garak ride or die for her. she gave him his love of poetry. they both gave him a few nights of feeling at peace and loved. they planned their seduction of him together. they were two older students who sought out a lonely younger student to guide him into a relationship with them, build him up, take advantage of him, and betray him.

then there's the added tain element that he was watching all of this. aware of all of it. not only did lokar and palandine take advantage of garak for their own sakes but they sold him out to tain. and the way tain sees garak finding love as a personal betrayal and needing to intercede in that relationship. the way he looks down on garak for being in it... it's all so fucked up.
