People 50+ years ago made STAR TREK about their favorite gay ship. That's how fanfic started getting popular. People make Sherlock Holmes about their favorite ship. People were having full on fandom wars because of ships at the end of Naruto. None of the above are primarily romances.

I make HAIKYUU all about Bokuaka, who aren't canon or even in the protagonist's team! Do you think I care what genre the show I'm watching is if I like a ship dynamic? Spoiler: I don't.

Cry all you want about it but people have never limited themselves to only carrying about romance in a strictly romance focused medium. And you liking it or not jinmao is clearly endgame so what the fuck is the problem with being excited about it when it's given to us? If you don't want to see it just block people instead of whining about it all the damn time.

Telling people they can't get excited that the canon slow burn romance is slow burning or romancing because "there's more to the show" is kinda dumb because of course there is more to the show, but the scene I'm reacting to is also there??? I love episodes where it's just Maomao solving mysteries or being silly about her poisons. Heck, my favorite episode/scene doesn't even involve EITHER of them (Lakan's backstory) but I also love their romance and that's 100% ok.

And it's so funny when I see people posting about "jinmao shippers are so mean to Shisui :(" when the post directly below that on their blogs is literally talking shit about Jinshi and they say "guys I do like jinmao" to safe face but I see a lot more positive Shisui posts on supposedly "toxic jinmao shippers" then positive Jinshi/jinmao post on their blogs. If you want to be a hater, fine. But don't be a liar or a hypocrite. The same goes to people who tell others not to reduce Maomao's character to "going to be in love with Jinshi someday" but do a similar thing about Shisui and make her arc exclusively about "being maomao's first romantic love". There's a lot more to her character than her interactions with Maomao but suddenly it's ok to focus on romance?

And I did like their interaction and the ship before getting to see the pettiness and the way people tried to rewrite canon to "justify" it and make it the "moral choice" between the 2 ships. No it's not more morally correct to ship shimao (the same way it's not more morally correct to ship jinmao). It's fun to ship them and that's all it needs to be for you to ship it. Stop making it about morals!!
