16. …to comfort them.

The news is quiet; the admission more heavy than it ought to be. It’s not as if this is her fault, Toni made quiet, and staring, from across the table. Hannah’s spine is bent slightly, as if sagging beneath the WEIGHT of what she’s had to carry, having admitted everything. The tapes, the rape, that boy left at home carrying on as if the world hadn’t stopped for someone, how he was, without a doubt from all that’s been described, an asshole in much need of justice. Still. It isn’t about revenge, holy as that might feel right now, her hands in her lap, the leather of her jacket pulled up over her wrists, a quiet that’s impacted everything.

Around them, the diner still moves with its own life, people eating, laughing, smiling, arguing. A microcosm within Riverdale. Just Toni and Hannah left within that booth at the back, both of their heads bowed in SILENCE, waiting for the shoe to drop. But, no. It’s on her isn’t it, Toni reaching out over the table to take the hand that’s there still across the surface of it, allowing her fingers to wind around her own, keeping that physical touch because it’s a reminder, she thinks, that she’s not dirty or broken or wounded. She’s still Hannah, even if this happened. 

Toni stands and leans in across the table, a kiss pressed to the top of her head, a soft motion as she shifts from where she’s been sitting to slide into the seat beside the other girl, an arm wrapping around her. “That must have been hard to talk about.” the words are murmured over a sleepy tongue, head shaking slightly from side to side. “It’s okay. You’re safe now. And that guy? Will never... EVER... be able to hurt you again. Do you understand me?”

WALKING IN ON MY MUSE IN THE SHOWER [ accepting ] ;; @tapegrief

           EVER SINCE THE drive-in had been torn down, he found himself living in an abandoned closet on school grounds. that meant showering in the boys locker room before anyone showed up to school. that included the janitors. the hot water was broken in the boys room that morning so, he found himself in the women’s locker room. it’s not like anyone was there and he was definitely starting to smell. 

          THROWING THE TOWEL on its hook, he stepped in the shower when the steam started to cover the locker room. his eyes closed as he started to rub the shampoo into his hair. it was then that he heard the sudden ‘whoosh’ of the shower curtain opening. he was stunned to say the least, that’s how he ended up making eye contact with the intruder, saying nothing in return. no sooner than the curtain opened did it close back up again. once the shampoo was rinsed from his hair, he stepped out of the shower, wrapping a towel around his waist. “ do you regularly go around opening shower curtains or is this a special occasion? ” jughead wasn’t exactly sure if his joke was well received, so he decided to flip switch, “ sorry the.. the men’s room doesn’t have hot water... wait – what are you doing here this early? ”

                 ❛   —   intuitive   or   emotional   ?   ❜   because   even   if   lydia’s   never   been   too   expressive   on   the   surface,   she   definitely   needs   to   figure   out   better   ways    to   mute   the   latter   if   she   can’t   erase   the   them   completely.   lydia   is   HIGHLY   emotional   for   someone   who   delights   in   minimizing   the   effects   of   a   hyperactive   amygdala.   SHE   FEELS   TOO   MUCH,   loves   too   hard   &   her   poise   might   be   made   of   marble   but   everything   would   be   so   much   easier   without   the   lingering   insecurity   &   emotional   magnitude   making   such   a   mess   of   her.   the   strawberry   blonde   is   more   fragile   than   she   looks   &   she   hates   that.   she   wishes   she   wasn’t   so   vulnerable   ---   it   never   ends   well.     ❛   that   would   be   IDEAL  ...  if   you’re   into   antisocial   lifestyles   and   sociopathy.   there’s   always   a   catch,   isn’t   there   ?   ❜    there’s   still  a   50/50   chance   of   ruining   everything.

“RUDE. back home rude people got hit in the face.“ with an invisible fire ball, but she did promised her dad no magic or outburst. apparently, living amongst normal kids would be nice for lizzie and separating the twins was good; according to her mom. “i know all about being an asshole, you know. I kind of perfected it but this   is a whole new level.“ and she brushes a hand over the material of her shirt, now all sticky with drink and god knows what else. baby blues light up as they look back at the girl and rolls her eyes playfully. “WHO AM I GOING TO TELL? i can already seeing myself as the outcast. at least I look hot. you know, the whole hot trash is very in right now.”  she was already hatin’ this place. “    i’m lizzie saltzman. lizzie is fine. and you are by far the best person i met so far.”
