Ed's Kraken tattoo redesign?!

Just noticed they did a pretty big redesign of Ed's upper arm octopus... that I haven't seen anyone comment on.

it's hard to say for certain because I haven’t been able to get a better image from season 1, but while they switched up the tentacles a bit, at least the skull part looks like it could be a somewhat plausible cover-up of / addition to the original sweet octopus head that Ed might have had done as the Kraken... (even though it doesn't look fresh 🤫)

What's everyone's interpretation?

You can catch a glimpse of the skull while Ed is getting tortured in s02e06, so it isn't just some weird gravy basket exclusive symbolism
