Teach Men to Respect Women, Not Women to Fear Men

I get exhausted and frustrated with comments like “women- always be aware of your surroundings!” or advice on what to/not to do when we’re alone. Or comments and warnings about women traveling alone or living alone even. I get it, the world can never be 100% safe, that’s just reality. But why aren’t we emphasizing things like that men should respect women and each other, that men shouldn’t take advantage of others. Shouldn’t we say things like “be respectful!” just as much as warnings to “be safe!” It’s just as important, or probably more so, to teach men to be compassionate and respectful as it is to teach women to be wary of them. I want to see men as compassionate and trustworthy people. Men aren’t monsters, so let’s raise them to be kind and strong and full of integrity and respect.

Educate Men

Teach men how to treat and respect women. Tell them about consent. Tell them that disrespecting a woman doesn’t make them a man, it makes them a coward, a disgrace to the human population. Tell them that when a girl is being kind, it does not in any way mean that she is flirting with them. Tell them that being sensitive doesn’t make them any less of a man, if anything, it makes them more human. Tell them that when a girl walks by them, it is not an invitation for them to gawk at her. Tell them that when a girl is alone with them, it is their duty to protect her, not scare her. Please, please teach them the basic etiquettes of any basic human before they go outside, rather than keeping women locked within four walls.

FEAR and HATE...or how the BIG MONEY in government WINS

So, follow this train of thought.   

So, if education can bring change.....it is a good thing for all.

It can also be scary..........because people often fear what they don't understand.  This is even true for parents and their youth.  The youth of our society always are at the helm of our society and cultural ideas. Art, Music and politics.  Which creates descention 

So, education can challenge and explain what people do not understand and with the new information, can alleviate fear. So, for......

Hence, the world is not flat, but round, and you will NOT fall off but continue to travel the globe,...That is a fairly easy example of education.

So, if the education is the answer to fear, might it also be the answer to hate? Since often Hate is a result of fear....

If Education does not make its way into the impovershed areas of America and is met with resistance, you can have a communities holding on to fear, lead by hate, and isolated into obsolesence.

So, I promote education. And I mean, through creative means. Street Theatre, Music Fair's, gatherings and  Slam Poet Jam's.
